Brian Blessed's Bastard Boy: Fatty Waffles

That is one of the best names ever for a cat.

This is Tora. I found him crying under a stack of pallets at work on Monday. After a checkup and neutering at the vet, he is now happy, fed, and running around the house like a nutter when he's not cuddling with my face. The poor guy has a healing-weird broken leg (already setting itself when I found him, so he's just going to be a limpy cat) and a kinked tail, in addition to a large assortment of scratches and a thing on the tip of his ear. You'd never guess he had such a hard life until now from his wonderful personality, so long as you don't try and pet him from directly overhead.

We ended up with 11 baby beardies. So we ended up losing 6 eggs, which is a pretty good ratio given that we would have considered ourselves lucky if we had only had 8 hatch. I tried a couple of times to get one of the ferrets named Falafel, but always got shot down by the rest of the family. If and when (yes, I know we have way too many to begin with, but I know my family) we get another animal in the house, I'm going for either Hagis, Merlot, or Shawarma.

Waffles is her name, but we call her Fatty because she's fat, and has been for about 7 years now. Or she's Fatty momma seeing as how she's the oldest pet we own.

I was going thru some of my old photos this weekend and found this one. Sadly every one in this photo is no longer with us. Every Sunday morning I used to pack up the dogs and go over to visit my parents for breakfast. The Brittany is Shadow, the little one is Baby and the baggy tan lump is Elsa and my Mom with her hair up in curlers. ( I will be haunted in my sleep for posting a picture with her hair in curlers.) Sorry no cats but I didn't get Gremie until about 10 years after this picture was taken.

Talked again to the pet store this morning and they are taking our baby beardies from us in three weeks. Daughter is a little put out by it, but she's known they would not be staying with us after they were hatched. At least we know they'll be lightening up a bunch of people's Christmas this year. So, Nutmeg, Paprika, Ghost Chile, Salt, Pepper, Corriander, Cinnamon, Garlic, Clove, Poppy Seed, and Marjoram enjoyed their time with us, but will be finding forever homes in another few weeks. As for everyone else, aside from the wife's flu problem, the mom is taking the kids to the beach today for a walk along the boardwalk, I'm cleaning and avoiding the rampaging kittehs while using the vacuum.

So, I did a little more research on beardies. I don't have a tank to support one when it's grown. Maybe another day, just not now.

I had an old roommate who got one and named him Pablo.
Pablo was the chillest lizard ever - annnnnd then Pablo grew to the length of the couch...and bigger...
/I started to doubt Pablo's true lizard heritage after that
//Pablo is now living the life of luxuary at some santuary :)
