beer4breakfast: GAT_00: thomps: the whole article is premised on the "fiscal cliff" not being averted. that's been a secret since never.

There's little reason to believe it will be averted.

Boehner has already stated he wants to extend the Bush tax cuts for another year and not do anything major until 2013. And since the Democrats have no spines that will probably be what happens. Kick the can down the road for another year....

Obama's got the cards here. If nothing gets done, what happens is he gets to name his own price to put the tax cuts back, if they even do. He's coming fresh off an election where he knows, and can point to numbers explicitly proving, that the American people have his back over the GOP's if push comes to shove. He can point to numbers explicitly showing that people didn't want Romney's plan. He is under no obligation to implement it and is free to respond to any pressure tactics with literal open laughter directly into Mitch McConnell's face if he wants. He has the GOP by the short ones and, if he's smart, he'll act like it.

Bullshiat. Oil companies are making BILLIONS IN PROFIT.

Milk them, and cut it out already with all the wars.

America: this will be your real test. Watch what your Congress people do. Then vote accordingly in the mid-terms. Yes, I'm betting the TP Repubilcans will go all out to block common sense again. Get rid of them.

Second best kept secret of the election season: The 2013 recession. This is a repeat from every month since 2010.

My mom's best friend was boohoooing about how much her stocks dropped the last two days.

If she was smart she would take the opportunity to buy, but whatever.

Market is nowhere near where it was in the recession.

Market goes up, market goes down. Buy low sell high. Get out if you can't handle cyclical ups and downs.

germ78: I won't be surprised when it turns out Colorado and Washington's economies weathered this coming storm the best.

I grew up in a state that still had dry counties. Now I live in Weedlandia. Guess which state has nicer roads, more amenities, better schools, and is attracting new residents? fark the Puritans.

i wish i could argue with you, but this congress has shown zero interest in putting the economy before their politics.

If by "congress" you mean the Democrat controlled senate and executive branch, then you are right on the money. The conservatives in the House did everything in their power to avert the travesty that the liberals foisted on our economy last year, and they'll do everything they can this time around.. I have my doubts, though - the Dems think they have a mandate, and will use that excuse to push us over the fiscal cliff if only to use it as an excuse to implement socialist martial law on the entire country.

Yeah, you really haven't been paying attention. Jobs bill killed, veterans bill killed, a whole bunch of things killed due to Republican arrogance.

Tax cuts must die

Alright, folks. We just kept you on the edge of your seats for a 'close' election. Sorry about that. We thought it would be a nail biter, no really.

Ok, so now that that is over OH MY GOD THE WORLD IS GONNA END. Stay tuned.

Dow will bounce back tomorrow and finish high as investors look for deals on the last two days largely symbolic drop. On Monday it will drop again probably for 2 or 3 days with another strong friday finish.
