Wednesday with signs reading "closed due to weather." "They fly into disaster areas, but flee from raindrops," commented DNA.

I think calling the storm "raindrops" might be a bit of an understaitment. Should they stay open even if it is going to do more damage to their effort overall?

I guess NYC's liberal ways angered the great invisible sky wizard.

On a serious note; did someone open an ancient Egyptian box with a curse on it? If so, step forward so we can sacrifice you to Horus or whatever.

Last week they cancelled the Emergency Council's meeting about emergencies due to the actual emergency of [sort of] Hurricane Sandy. I found it humorous.

Um, no, it's not ironic. It would only be ironic if the disaster center were shuttered due to overly nice weather.

Damn it; that box had a note in it; "Do Not Open till December 21st 2012". You guys are going to cause the apocalypse early.

I hope your happy; just so you know, NYC is going to get hit with a plague of tea partyers after this. Don't even ask about the days of darkness.

That is conceivably the worst use of the word "literally" I've ever seen.

No, it would be ironic if the disaster center did something that resulted in an even bigger disaster.

Whether it's ironic or not, I think we can all agree it is humorous (to those not in need of services anyway).

The only ray of hope I have is the farksticks at FEMA are smart enough to realize they should consult experts. You know, Waffle House.

Too bad there aren't any in New York or New Jersey.

It would be ironic if it turned into some sort of "Spanish Inquisition".

And now an interlude from Urban Dictionary:

irony police
A large group of narrow-minded, usually internet dwelling people who attack anyone whose use of the term irony doesn't conform to their rigid, overly specific definition of it.

fun sucker
One who sucks fun. A person who can take any situation where others are enjoying themselves and remove all pleasure from it.

If you can't understand why...and I'll say it slowly for you...

the EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY

intended to MANAGE EMERGENCIES...

is shuttered due to bad weather, therefore...

being unable to MANAGE during an EMERGENCY

and therefore THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT WAS EXPECTED

If you still can't wrap your tiny tiny mind around just WHY that might be considered a teensy weensy bit ironic...

Umm...hold on, just let me check my definitions here

"Irony involving a situation in which actions have an effect that is opposite from what was intended, so that the outcome is contrary to what was expected."

well well...

no, it's precisely ironic.

/Unfortunately, the irony brigade threadshiatting as-per-usual is not even one-iota of ironic...
