From the Entertainment Weekly link: "The Veep handled his scene like a pro, even ad-libbing a response to a crazy Leslie retort that wound up in the final cut of the episode."

I'm really looking forward to this.

"Parks & Rec" was warned that if Biden's cameo appearance leaked before the election, than some provisions might have to be made for Paul Ryan to make a similar cameo.

Why does it make little sense? I'm busy Thursday nights so I DVR Office/big bang theory. I'm now going to DVR this as well. Simple concept.

As far as hating Parks and Rec goes. First of all, I despise Amy Poehler. Secondly, the writing is an obvious attempt at an Office clone. The savant-like leader, etc. The more it got hyped, the more I hated it.

Joe Biden is awesome, and is unconventionally appearing in a sitcom. I'm going to record it because I want to see this cutural event.

Parks and Rec is far too superior to The Office to be considered a clone anymore.

Have you tried the show and didn't like it? Or did you just not get into it in the first place? I didn't start watching until mid-way through the second season because I also couldn't stand Poehler. Turns out, she found a role that she's perfect for. Also, any similarities to The Office is probably due to the guy in charge of creating the US version of The Office is responsible for Parks and Rec. So if you like one, you will probably like the other.

Initially I was meh on Parks and Rec, but after the first season I think it really found its ground. There is a similarity to the Office in the format, but it has it's own more absurd sense of humor which really works for it and defines it. If you like the Biden episode consider giving Parks an earnest try, just know that season 1 just isn't as good as later seasons.

Who's the best character on this show?

I know most will answer Ron Swanson, and that might be the 'easy' pick, but it's so hard to say for me.

I'd accept arguments for Tom, Donna, April, Andy, Chris (though not this season) and maybe even Jerry.

I like Donna, because they haven't spent as much time on her as the other characters, meaning that she's not as far down the "parody of self" path that the other characters are. Chris is cringe-inducing to watch now, as he's gone completely over-the-top with this mental breakdown thing. April has also gotten kind of annoying.

Ironically enough, Ron Swanson, who was in danger of becoming waaay overexposed, has probably developed the most this season, and he's more interesting to me now.

Andy is pretty consistently great onscreen, and has been amazing at the physical comedy. My only concern about the character is that he's gradually turning into Kevin from The Office. By season six or seven, he'll be a barely functioning retard.

Honestly, it's hard to pick just one. I notice that Ann isn't on the list, and I agree with her exclusion. I identify with Leslie, and Ben's ST:TNG fan fiction pushed him further up my list, but overall I have to go with April Blart, mall cop. She's come so far as a character, and I love that they show how surprised and frightened she is when she actually cares about something. I didn't think pairing her with Andy made much sense initially, but they put her in situations where she cares about something, resists it, then completely embraces it--and suddenly her spur-of-the-moment wedding makes perfect sense.

/Though Andy has the best lines, by far. "I typed your symptoms into this thing, and it says you may have 'network connectivity problems.'"

I like that Rashida Jones is on the show, but Ann really has zero reason to be there most of the time. Her character made sense in the first season since it was all about The Pit, but after that she always feels shoehorned into every plot.

Oh, we should also discuss ancillary characters. I like Perd Hepley, though I think they're overdoing it with him this season.

I honestly felt the same way about her until this show. Leslie Knope is the perfect role for her. She's nothing like she was on SNL or anything else you might've seen her in.

And if not for her, give it a shot for everyone else on the show. It's truly one of the better comedies on TV today.

That's a pity. Anytime I recommend the show to someone I always make sure to say season one kind of sucks and they might want to skip it. I gave up on it at first too, then happened to catch an episode in the middle of season 2 (the camping episode) and was really surprised how good it was.

Cool the VP of the United States have been relegated to doing a cameo on a crappy sitcom. The citizens of the United States should be so proud.

What next is Obama going to be on Dancing with the Stars.

The last VP shot a guy in the face and is generally considered one of the most terrible/evil politicians alive.

The one before him is pretty universally mocked for his environmental crusading/hypocrisy (see also: Manbearpig).

And the one before THAT had the whole potatoe thing.

I'm sorry, but Biden's definitely winning the best VP slot for the last few decades.

Shooting a guy in the face is one thing. Getting that guy to then apologize to you for causing you a hassle is some Jedi shiat.

As far as Parks and Rec, I love the show, but I hope it doesn't overstay its welcome like The Office and 30 Rock. Thank goodness The Office is finally ending, and at least it's taking care to make the final season actually worth watching.

Community should end after the next season. A four-year run is plenty. It's already well into the self-parody phase.

Has nothing to do with the election and everything to do for my respect for the office of vp. I do not however respect the American Idol residence of that offices nor will I ever.

The fact that American Citizens believe it is appropriate for the two people that hold the highest offices in the US Government to show up on sitcoms, skit shows and nightly talk shows is pathetic and sad.

Yeah she started out as a female Michael Scott like rube that no one could identify with, but they made her character a little smarter and slightly less dorky and the show improved immensely.

Out of curiosity, have you watched anything past the first season? The first season was horrendous and, as you say, a pretty obvious attempt to create a clone of The Office. The ensuing seasons manage to put some distance between the two shows and IMO, Parks and Rec stands out as one of the best comedies of the last decade.

How can you possibly hate the show? The first season was terrible, but after that it just clicks so well. I love how every character on that show is likable and they all seem to care about each other in their own ways. I'm a huge fan of Community, well before it became popular on Fark, but I'd have to say that P&R is the funniest show on NBC right now.
