When I was in Barstow for a few months, I loved that every friday afternoon and night, and every Sunday evening, there was a traffic jam in Barstow due to all the commuters.

"I went out to Vegas in a $30,000 car and came back in a $150,000 bus."

One friend's solution to the return problem: She only took cash and filled her gas tank when she got to Vegas. Drove home when the money ran out or Sunday at midnight.

My favorite part of the LA-Las Vegas drive: seeing the remains (or just the black stain on the shoulder) of a car that burnt out every 100 meters or so.

Wasn't there a L.A. -to-Las Vegas high speed rail project in the works? If so, what happened to it?

/ likes riding trains
// hates riding Greyhound
/// ...would sooner pay $$$ to fly than ride Greyhound...

The sad part is that with TSA at LAX the trip over by bus may take you less time.

Never got built. It sure would be nice to get some of these California drivers off our roads, though...

More like, "It's hasn't been built yet". Looks like current plans are for the private-run train to go from Palmdale to Vegas, with a connection to the state-run LA to San Fran train. In theory, it might be up and running by 2018.

It's probably some sort of natural win that the Greyhound station is a few minutes walk from the Fremont St (Downtown) casinos. Because aside from the Nugget, what's left there is kinda bargain basement.

/Still wondering what the screenshot is from.

Every Thanksgiving we go out there to Zyzzx road with a bunch of RVs and trailers and ride dirt bikes and quads all over. There's all kinds of weird shiat to see out there in the Mojave desert.

An express inter-city bus line is news? I mean it is nice and long overdue, but isn't something I would lose my head over...
