Welcome to Farktography! This Week's Theme: "Close Encounters of the Third Kind"

Description
: Create photos of the paranormal or extraterrestrial, ie UFOs, Sasquatch, alien autopsies and so on. Inspired by the cheesy photographs manufactured by people from the 1950-1970 era, in all their grainy goodness. Standard farktography rules apply.
We ask that before submitting your photos you read and adhere to the following submission rules, including but not limited to the following:
- Submissions must be photographs; screen captures do not count as photographs.
- You must be the original photographer of your entry. Do not submit anyone else's photography as your own.
- You are only allowed to enter a photograph once. Do not submit the same photo to another contest later.
- You may enter 3 photos in each contest as long as each photo is of a different composition.
- Please post each photo separately so they can be voted for individually.

Please note:
The overarching ideal behind Farktography is that image corrections are acceptable, while adding or removing elements in the image (e.g. removing telephone poles, adding Elvis) is not acceptable. HDR, stitching, or otherwise combining exposures in post processing are not allowed unless specified for a particular theme (multiple exposures done in-camera are acceptable, however). See the rules for more information on acceptable modifications, or check in at the Farktography Forums.

Legal: All photographers submitting photos to this contest are the legal copyright holders for the photos submitted and the photos are not to be considered free for any other use without written consent from the submitting photographers.
- Drop by the Farktography Forum on Fark (new window) or Farktography.net (for chatting, critique, techtalk and so on)
- Stats can be found here.
- Image hosting sites can be found here.

The biggest orb I ever saw appeared in this photo I took of my neighbor's house one night. It wasn't in the original scene when I took the photo, and it's obviously proof of ghosts!

Took this one in Quintana Roo, MX, in an underground river. The image is SOOC, scanned negative, didn't even do a noise reduction.

I saw a straight up "scratch in the heavens" meteroite the other day, but it was that briefest of things while I was out grabbing a smoke. I wish I could relay, but it was that most classical scratch in the cosmos.

It's an orb weaving spider of the type I used to have in my front yard in San Leon. They almost look like they have plastic bodies.

Cool--double exposure in camera or composited image?

2012-11-09 07:09:08 AM
Elsinore, it's a composite. I thought that was OK in this week's contest due to the word "manufactured." If not, please delete and I have no hard feelings. I try to observe the rules.

Both pictures are mine: Antietam Bridge and the Pennsylvania 51st Regiment monument, which was my great, great grandfather's unit.

Yeah I can see the confusion--it does say standard rules apply, but the wonky spacing on my post might have jumbled that together.  I like the shot, though.  Went with disabling voting so it can still be displayed; we should have another software hootenanny theme at some point--that would definitely fit it!

This was a fun theme--thanks, Farktographers!  I'd like to take a moment and welcome back katerbug72, whom we hadn't seen in a long time.  Hope to see you back next week!

Results aren't final until the thread closes, but at this point, congrats to top finishers U-Man, ravnostic, and choo!  Winner will be recognized as always at farktography.net and in the Fark Farktography Forum

See everyone next week for "A Stitch in Time 2"!
