VRaptor117: Mitt Romney warned us. He told us if we didn't get tough on China this would happen. And now China has our streetlight technology. For shame, Obama, for shame.

Probably using them to manipulate their currency to.

For goodness sake, they're call CHINESE lanterns for a reason folks.

"As the object approached, some in the group raised the alarm, Dhar said, and it ascended back up the hill, changed color from white to metallic black and went airborne, hovering for about 10 minutes before disappearing.

"We were all amazed," he said. "We thought it was some UFO, some object from some place that may not be the Earth."

They provided photos to authorities, they said, but the government never issued a report."

And let me guess...they don't have a single copy of a single photo anymore, eh?

Probably no big announcement ahead of time or long term stay afterwards.

If I had to guess, they'll extract and super-cool for transport all the nitrogen from our atmosphere and use it as a base component in their fertilizer plants before distributing the end product for use on one of the many "Farm-Planets" under their management.

If we have a problem with that... well that's just too bad.

Must mean something big is going down, swarms of sightings portend major events.

In this case I'm not saying it's aliens, but...

It's more likely to be surveillance drones, rockets, and biowarfare missiles.

Hmm... Almost 100; perhaps say 99. Maybe Nena was prescient.

Cool, semi bilingual, remake from her a few years ago; and damn has she aged well!

They're going to need one really tall fence to keep those aliens out. A Great Fence, if you will.

In their gutters? That's decidedly odd. The last thing I want to do when I have to shiat is climb a ladder.

PS. For those who only heard the English translation, the original German lyrics are an anti-war/protest song:

Have you some time for me,
then I'll sing a song for you
about 99 balloons
on their way to the horizon.
If you're perhaps thinking about me right now
then I'll sing a song for you
about 99 balloons
and that such a thing comes from such a thing.

99 balloons
on their way to the horizon
People think they're UFO's from space
so a general sent up
a fighter squadron after them
Sound the alarm if it's so
but there on the horizon were
only 99 balloons.

99 fighter jets
Each one's a great warrior
Thought they were Captain Kirk
then came a lot of fireworks
the neighbors didn't understand anything
and felt like they were being provoked
so they shot at the horizon
at 99 balloons.

99 war ministers
matches and gasoline canisters
They thought they were clever people
already smelled a nice bounty
Called for war and wanted power.
Man, who would've thought
that things would someday go so far
because of 99 balloons.

99 years of war
left no room for victors.
There are no more war ministers
nor any jet fighters.
Today I'm making my rounds
see the world lying in ruins.
I found a balloon,
think of you and let it fly (away).

Well, there is a 100% chance of intelligent life existing in the universe. There is a likely chance it is elsewhere than on this planet. Our chances of meeting that life are probably quite small.

CruJones: Somaticasual: ladyfortuna: You know, in re-watching The X-Files, I am reminded how much more exposure the 'UFO' chasers had back in the 90s and even a little into the early 'aughts. These days you hardly hear about them, but I can't help but think that someone must still be tracking reports or something...

MUFON, a hobbyist organization. still tracks of sightings per year, if not thousands.

I mean, there are only about a dozen shows on TV about alien encounters. It's so little known that in no way could one of them even become a meme.... But yeah, don't hear much about them these days...

[insert hipster joke about not having cable or watching tv here]

No seriously, I don't. Netflix all the way. Also back in the 90s you couldn't freakin' avoid the UFO subject, now, obviously you can, since I have done so with absolutely no effort.

I do love the 'Aliens' guy picture from History channel though.

i got a real good look at it for about twenty seconds.
