Forget Rasmussen, this is the game he's played for a long time. The real question is, WTF is up with Gallup? Gallup used to be cool, then 4 weeks before the election they changed their model and went all derp.

Chambers' official Electoral College prediction ended up being much more tame than other conservatives, including Dick Morris. Chambers predicted Romney would win 275 electoral votes to Obama's 263.

Yeah, but a couple of days earlier...

I think 'Dean Chambers' is Nate Silver's trolling alt. He's using it to call out Rasmussen.

Good that Chambers seems less in denial than Rove, at this point.

One incidental oddity is that Gallup was roughly as bad as Rassmussen, which leaves me wondering a little about this year's creationism poll results.

b) Insist polls are still wrong, and in fact Romney won by 200 EVs

c) Admit he farked up completely

Insist some black swan event occurred which completely surprised everyone and that Nate Silver was right by coincidence.

One explanation given for the discrepancy in polls is that the under 30 voters turned out a whole lot more than the pollsters had anticipated. The reason for that is that 70% of them (myself included, even though I'm nearly 40) don't have land lines, and so they simply couldn't get in contact with them to poll them.

See, here's the thing, when you have a party that aligns itself with "literal rape" and "rape is God's will" then you have a lot of people who are going to change their affiliation to Independent or even Democrat. And the people who are doing that aren't going to vote Republican.

This. Especially considering almost all of the other people on the conservative side of the ledger are making all sorts of excuses, making all sorts of dire predictions, at least he is just saying "I was wrong. I made bad assumptions, and I have real issues with the sources of my assumptions".

People on the left are quick to jump on anything any on the right does, and usually rightly so, so, you have to give credit where credit is due when someone acts responsibly.

He seems a little too quick to see his errors though. People don't do that. I've long suspected Chambers is just playing Republicans, and this is more evidence.

His analysis was actually hilarious if you read it as satire.

He gave ALL undecideds to Romney, because "no one would be undecided about voting for a sitting president."

His analysis showed Romney having the absolute largest landslide reasonably possible UNTIL the day of the election. Then it suddenly gave the absolute slimmest victory scenario for Romney that was reasonably possible. That in itself is a hilarious play on the "skewed pollsters gradually come into line with the mean shortly before the election" meme. Because he did that, and was not subtle about it at all.

He's an Andy Kaufman.

that IS a screwy poll. My only guess is, it's socially beneficial in some places to say you believe that stuff, even if you don't?

You know what your posting of the Republican polls reminds me of? How I wished I had saved a scrapbook of newspaper clippings, articles, and cited quotes during the run up to the Iraq war. I KNEW those sonsofbiatches would change their stories at will, I knew their original promises would go unfulfilled, and I knew they'd deny everything when the shiat hit the fan.
