The headline makes perfect sense as long as "he" refers to McConnell.

clowncar on fire: dericwater: Obama will not compromise with the right this term. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. He knows the meaning of compromise by the right: accept our plans or you're not compromising. So he will fight back.

According to last night's election results, he'll be out numbered and probably not get much done without some sort of compromise. I think the whole point of playing fill in the blanks (or poking the touchscreen) was that all Americans would have a chance at representation by their elected officials. Sadly, not all these elected members are not going to necessarily reflect your view on how things should be run, nor will they always reflect the POTUS desires. That's trhe beauty of a republic- ALL of us get a say through our elected officials, not just the ones who voted for Obama. Seems like all that counting would have become a pointless endeavor if Barry was just gonna wander off and do whatever the hell he saw fit; definitely counter productive to compromise and progression.

Outnumbered? Yes. But the debt ceiling fiasco and the sequestration have the GOP on a no-win situation... and has Obama and the Dems in a position that, while not ideal, is something they can tolerate. That's the point... this time if the GOP decides not to cooperate in any way, shape, or form... everyone suffers, but the GOP suffers much more than anyone else. Obama doing absolutely nothing for the next few months will cause military spending to take a huge hit, along with interest payments, Medicare, Education, and others from the discretionary budget. The Bush Tax Cuts will also expire, which is an entirely different matter altogether.

But here's the funny part about the sequestration... as several accountants have explained on their own blogs: it doesn't help the debt. It's a punishment, not a plan. The discretionary budget can only cut back costs so much, in fact you could eliminate the discretionary budget entirely, and it wouldn't get rid of all the deficit. Sequestration and the Bush Tax Cuts expiring would actually make serious progress, albeit in a way that'll be rough for pretty much everyone. Both matters are a pissing match where Obama holds every advantage.

lennavan: "The American people did two things: They gave President Obama a second chance to fix the problems that even he admits he failed to solve during his first four years in office, and they preserved Republican control of the House of Representatives," McConnell said in a statement.

Yeah, they also preserved Democrat control of the Senate, Mr Minority Leader.

"The American people voted to make Barack Obama a lame-duck president."

Hey Turtle Face, hope you have enough clout to block the inevitable nom to the SCOTUS that Obama should get a crack at.

Blue_Blazer: Dusk-You-n-Me: Most of the reporting I've read today on John Boehner's post-election messaging on the Bush tax cuts is too savvy and inside baseball to correctly convey what's happening. So here's what's happening. The Bush tax cuts are scheduled to fully expire at the end of the year. Barack Obama does not favor this large tax increase and is proposing substitute legislation that would reduce taxes relative to current law. House Republicans are refusing to pass this tax cut, claiming to believe that they'd rather have a larger tax hike and retain the ability to whine than to strike a deal. Link

Holy shiat.

Obama gave him 98% of what he wanted, reached out to him and the right many times, and how does Mitch repay him? With even more biatching, whining, demanding 100%, and complaining about Obama being "too far left", never mind that for Republicans "too far left" is anything to the left of center-right. And now here Mitch is, saying he'll do whatever it takes to keep America, THE COUNTRY HE LIVES IN AND HELPS DECIDE ON IMPORTANT MATTERS, as much as a shiathole as he can out of spite, anger, and hate, which was his policy for the last four years.

Fark you, Mitch. You're the very definition of a traitor. Instead of being a spiteful little biatch, try working on helping to fix this country. And that goes to all of your obstructionist Republicans out there.

Pretty much as I was inferring- a stalemate (pissing match) in which we all lose. Compromise will be needed on all sides. Nobody is a winner when you have to (or give the apparance of) override the wishes of your people, no matter how noble your cause.

Is it too late to propose we "take turns" between the parties during presidential cycles- that way we all get what we want, we just may have to wait a few years for our turn to get it.

Republicans- I know you mean well but must you alienate an entire nation in your endeavors?
Democrats- are you sure you can afford that? I'm not sure we have the money to pay for that....

My tinfoil helmut tells me that the ramping down of the gas prices the last few weeks was an effort on the 'tards part to "ease the pain" at the pumps as a feel good incentive to vote for them. Now that victory is complete, there's no reason to offer this incentive any more. Jokes on you Barry- all the 'tards ride bicycles or Prius's so they never noticed the reduction. The sneer is gone from Mitten's lip, his teeth are clenched in hate;
He pounds with cruel violence upon his blonde and vapid mate.
And now the media gives the results, and admits Nate Silver's right,
And now the GOP is shattered by the force of Obama's night.

Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright;
The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light,
And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout;
But there is no joy in Freeperville - mighty Mittens has struck out.

It is very good that you are refusing to work with the President once again. There are many enemies of our country depending upon people like you who would rather watch our country burn for idealism. It will save much effort on their behalf. Good Christians like you should consider how your actions affect others. Now instead of them affecting us from the outside you can do the work for them on the inside. Patriots like you would have saved countless British lives during the revolution days.

I find it hilarious that the ridiculous right seems to believe that Obama is at once a complete failure and a conspiratorial mastermind.

The reason Romney lost was because he was a crappy candidate backed by a party more determined to undermine the country for political gain than help fix anything. Party of personal responsibility, my ass.

I say let them try and obstruct. Let them further marginalize themselves. And in 2014, we will make sure they have no control. We will relieve them of what little control they still have.

Hint to Republicans: Do only good for the country or we will bury you.

Heck... if you don't do enough good, we still might bury you.

Why would the Republicans support blanket amnesty for millions upon millions of Democratic voters? Face it, the reason the Left is against any type of voter ID or verification is to allow ALL individuals within an area to vote regardless of citizenship. To a Progressive we are all "Citizen's of the World".

Also Obama shoved the Dream Act through via Executive Order when he didn't get his way. Bush may have utilized Executive Order's as well but his were minor compared to what Obama is going to do.

He was perfect tactic. He just has to invite each Republican Representative individually to the White House. Get one photo shaking hands with them. Later, E-mail them the photo and promise never to release if they play ball. Or you will release it with a voice over as an official endorsement.

Rann Xerox: I want Boehner and McConnell sitting in a room at the White House when, suddenly, they hear someone whistling "The Farmer in the Dell" on the other side of the door.

Slowly the door opens and Barack Obama, dressed in a long black duster and body armor, walks in. He stares into their eyes for a moment, reaches into a side pocket, pulls out a pack of Newports (soft pack), puts one to his lips, lights it, takes a long drag, blows smoke in their direction and says in a deep voice: "The Cheese stands alone."
