And this is why there's a growing rift between conservatives and freepers in the Republican Party, This is why the Republican Party will continue to lose electrons every time. As long as these people prioritize blocking legislation rather than improving upon it, 51% of America will not accept them. I know that McConnell probably doesn't believe in evolution, but here's a tip for him:

Evolve or die

So he wants Obama to become a right wing Republican, then he will work with him. Got it.

/these people are farking nuts

Zerochance: As a Kentuckian, allow me to apologize for this chicken-farking turtle motherfarker. I have never, ever voted for him and nothing would make me happier than to see him go.

Add Rand Paul to that. We're sorry.

as a new kentucky resident, lets work on getting this asshole out. if that doesn't work, lets have the golden triangle break off into it's own state of NKY. (maybe we can get cincy to join it, good for me, I don't know where you live).

I mean, with PR wanting to be a state now, we might as well do some map redrawing on the main land.

Offers of 9 parts cuts and 1 part revenue need to laid out and proposed once a week 50 weeks a year, and in as public a manner as possible until the American people see who is willing to, and unwilling to, compromise. Every week, every person who is insisting on being a part of Grover's pledge should be repeated by the president in a daily speech.

Here's hoping more than a few Republican senators see this as the career suicide that it is and tell him to fark off.

Came to mention this... although the Repuglicans are still in denial about that fact.

Dusk-You-n-Me: Political Science 101: The Grand Bargain is the sort of thing you might be forced into if you DIDN'T just kick ass in a national election.- David Waldman (@KagroX) November 7, 2012

Obama campaigned on raising taxes on the rich and walked to reelection. Dems are already bending over.

In all fairness, Boehner (or Cantor, however you want to spin it) controls the House.

There has to be some level of agreement between both sides.

Now, my opinion has always been that there are enough Republicans in the House who would go along with a moderate bill to pass, but Boehner still is the one who controls the docket.

Somacandra: We can only hope he'll become the arm twister now. Really take them on.

That really is not Obama's style. Obama has something the Republicans want; tax cuts. To get the tax cut the Republicans want they might have to agree to have them wrapped in a jobs bill for companies the repatriate jobs. Everyone wins.

2012-11-07 04:32:53 PM
That's Republican-style bipartisanship.

Also, the WH and Senate Ds haven't agreed to anything. I was being a bit pessimistic.

The Bush tax cuts completely expire without Obama having to lift a finger, much less meet McConnell halfway.

So when does McConnell plan this move to the political center?

There isn't going to be tax cuts.Maybe corporate tax cuts, but there won't be indidual tax cuts for the wealthy ,no matter how badly the GOP wants them.

A trillion will be be cut from the budget -- including defense -- unless everyone plays nice. That was the 98% of what Boner wanted.

BunkyBrewman: This coming from the same guy that stated his number one goal was to make Obama a one term president?

Keep farking that chicken Mitch. There's just a few feathers left at this point.

I'm sure plucked chicken is not much different then shaved pussy.

I'm seriously hoping for some major advances over the next 4 years. Barry's now a lame duck with nothing to prove (this could be a good thing for all constituency), the GOP has no further need to stymie America's forward progression again as Barry won't be re-elected if progress is achieved- in short, unprecedented cooperation toward advancement in which we can all claim a share to not seen in 20 years.

Even we conservatives can hope.

Oh, if it's not too much to ask, the banning of attack adds. If you can't sell a product on its merits, maybe its not worth selling.

2012-11-07 04:38:19 PM
Obama will not compromise with the right this term. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. He knows the meaning of compromise by the right: accept our plans or you're not compromising. So he will fight back.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) says that he will refuse to work with Obama during his second term until he moves to the political center

Honestly, the Senate should censure political extremists like McConnell.

He has no place to be making statements like this. God knows how many billions of dollars were wasted putting up with the right-wingers in Congress acting like spoiled children.

The Bush taxcuts automatically expire on December 31st. 600 billion in defense spending cuts over the next 10 years get automatically implemented n January 1st.

And Boehner can't do shiat about it without the Senate and Obama ratifiying an alternative he passes to the House.

That just means go all the way and declare yourself a Democrat. Cut a deal where the Dems will fund you in the primary and tolerate a certain degree of Blue Dog behavior out of you in exchange for you coming over. Then run like hell. Either you go hard core Tea Party and the moderates turn on you in the general or the Tea Party comes for you in the primary. Go Dem and try to the right of center moderates over with you.

I want Boehner and McConnell sitting in a room at the White House when, suddenly, they hear someone whistling "The Farmer in the Dell" on the other side of the door.

Slowly the door opens and Barack Obama, dressed in a long black duster and body armor, walks in. He stares into their eyes for a moment, reaches into a side pocket, pulls out a pack of Newports (soft pack), puts one to his lips, lights it, takes a long drag, blows smoke in their direction and says in a deep voice: "The Cheese stands alone."

Reform the filibuster and force this farker to hold the floor every time he wants to hold up legislation. Make him explain to the American people why he's actively and publicly preventing progress rather than doing so anonymously and with no consequences.

Make the filibuster a tool of principled dissent, not obstructionism.

McConnell's top priority now is losing the 2016 presidential elections apparently.
