FTFA: You have a whole rising young generation - Kelly Ayotte, you've got Bobby Jindal, Nikki Haley, Ted Cruz, the new senator from Texas, Marco Rubio, this whole generation who a just a year or two short in their careers from running this time are all going to be in the fray next time.

Krauthammer can't even tell Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz apart.

One thing's for sure; after the "fiscal cliff" hits, it will be highly amusing to watch the party of "fiscal responsibility" argue in favor of deliberately unbalancing the budget and taking on more debt to pay for upper-income tax cuts and more military spending.

More predictions from the guy who said this:

WI = GOP has put together fantastic gound game that has outperformed polling over the last three election cycles.
OH = Has gone republican 77% of the time since 1960 and Obama only won there by 4.6% in 2008 which was a "wave" election where the laws of demographics got thrown out the window and his opponents ground game was non existent.
You can camp out and campaign for 4 years in a state like Ohio, but if you are a shiatty president it won't matter. This is why the president needs a +11 Democrat sample from CNN to make the race look like a dead heat in their latest poll.

Romney has got this.

5) If you are a doctor begin limiting your patients or only take cash payments.
6) If you produce food (farmers) consider reducing your output to drive up prices and help Michelle O. with her fight on fat.
7)Do not associate, coach, elevate, or help in any way those who trend Democrat. This includes charities or even your own family.
8)If you are working hard to try and get ahead. Stop - enjoy your life and family while you still can.

Modguy: Flappyhead: Cythraul: 'Quite bright,' eh? I think y'all need to do something about your 'minority problem' before 2050 rolls around. Unless you want to lose the electoral votes in Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, and Florida, that is.

Was watching the CNN broadcast(don't get FOX, wish I did for teh lulz) and everyone who was doing the roundtable with Cooper, from Carville, the former Obama strategist to even the blonde GOP hottie pundit all agreed that the Republicans were dead in the water until they realized and did something about the huge gap in the demographic vote. The only person who didn't? The fiftysomething neo-con who just wanted to spout talking points and ignore the fact that only voter group the GOP has a stangelhold on are retired white people. The mid-terms this time around are gonna be fun to watch.

Mid terms are still going to favor the GOP. So long as the only people who truly "get out the vote" during the Mid Terms/Primaries are old white people, the GOP will still be relevant in that regard.

From "On the Issues":

Cruz accused Dewhurst of using his position as head of the Texas Senate to kill a bill last year that would have given police more power to ask anyone they detain about their citizenship status--a charge Dewhurst denied.

Both agreed that the US has failed to secure its border with Mexico, and said they oppose amnesty for illegal immigrants and the Obama administration's new directive allowing many young illegal immigrants brought to the US as children to be exempted from deportation.

The GOP is farked.

2012-11-07 02:29:33 PM

quickdraw: SlothB77: I hate saying this, but Obama has a mandate. The GOP was soundly defeated. In every key race, we lost. We lost Virginia and Ohio. We might lose Florida. Scott Brown lost in Mass. Mourdock and Akin soundly defeated. Kaine over Allen. It was a thumping.

Thank you! You now are farkied as "graceful in defeat."

Seriously man--congratulations on really being an outsider from your party. Even Romney's concession speech was halfhearted and sounded really, really insincere.

I've heard next to no republicans look in the mirror on this election. Just a ton of excuses and bullshiat as to why they lost. It could be time to say "Uh...people aren't exactly happy with us. Maybe we need to change a little."

Carn: CygnusDarius: Carn: He threw in a lot of liberal code words last night, as well as made it perfectly clear the Republicans would get one chance to immediately come to the table or they are going to learn thing or two about brass knuckles.

Let's hope that's true, because the republicans in the house will fight tooth and nail, and there's nothing more dangerous than a cornered rat.

Boehner actually sounds like he understands his predicament (cooperate or die). McConnell is the one who will stick to his intransigence no matter what, but if King leads them to change the filibuster to be less ridiculous he might be muted. Of course, Cantor and the teahadists are still strong in the House so you're right. I truly think they wasted all their political capital at the worst time. They tried to convince everyone that liberal policies would never let our economy recover. During the next four years, we're going to see them pay off in spades. They can either try to join the party or set themselves up for complete slaughter in 2016. I'm ok with either.

My worry is, there's still money in politics. The Kochs, the bankers, anyone that might have something to lose with progressive ideas in the government will move up to bribe/bully/remove key Democrats and progressives. They'll use Fox News (again) and CNN (have noticed this for some time now) to drop the fear on people, and they'll use the Tea Party as the vanguard for more vicious attacks.

Democrats better be ready to man the walls, shields and swords, because, as the Romans used to say: Barbari ad portas (Barbarians at the gates).

To SlothB77's defense, he conceded defeat quite graciously, which I felt was a good gesture. Check out his post on this thread at 10:42 AM

To counter: I Boobiesed the image at 7.55AM. Being gracious when everyone's looking at you is not grace. Which was one of the reasons Romney lost in the first place. A person tells people to fark themselves (or in Sloth's case, suck someone else off) like that, they're hedging their bets.

It shows they drank the Kool-Aid. It shows they eschew facts for a comforting narrative. It shows if he/she will switch to an alt or not, because if there's one thing this election should make PERFECTLY CLEAR to the [f]right[ened] wing, it is this...

You will not get away with your tantrums any more. You will get called out. You will be ridiculed if you are ridiculous. Don't like it? Stop having tantrums and being ridiculous. You're American adults. farking act like it.

The only problem I have with it is the usage of the word news. I got no beef with what the media wants to do. But I think we all agree, it's not news, it's entertainment. By all means, pretend the race is close even though all facts say otherwise. But then you shouldn't get to call yourself news.

I agree. We need to hold our "journalists" to higher standards. They are supposed to be the watchdogs of our society. How do we go about getting them to do their job?

Personally I'd like to see regulation of the word "news." Just like how in newspapers the Opinion and Comics sections are clearly defined, I'd like to see entertainment and opinion clearly defined from factual news. Then let the various news sources sue each other when major infractions occur and if successful in a lawsuit, that TV show/channel/whatever has to clearly state they are not news but rather whatever they actually are. The end result will hopefully be a premium put on being able to call yourself news. That if you heard something clearly declared as news, you knew it came with some minimum level of credibility.

Of course the problem with this is the GOP/Fox has built such a fabricated reality, if this were to happen, their viewers would call it a big government conspiracy and not "oh, turns out Fox isn't so accurate."

What a thoughtful, rational commenter:

What a pile of bullshiat. I am so sick of the "bright future" that never arrives. Krauthammer is predicating his comments on a huge assumption: that there will ever be free elections again after Obama gets done forfeiting our sovereignty to the UN, or giving amnesty to every brown skinned, uneducated, illegal alien who manages to get across our impenetrable border. (oh dear, now someone will call me a racist for speaking the truth. What will I do?) Obama wants to destroy the same country that Krauthammer has deluded himself into thinking will be there when all of these incandescent candidates mature.
...
We are fighting a political crime syndicate. Charles needs to lay off the serotonin re-uptake inhibitors and face the dark reality of who Obama is and what he is intent on doing.

Thomas Jefferson had an interesting prescription for the tyranny we are seeing from the Left. If our future is bright, it is bright red.

I don't know if it's just me but, I detect a little anger it the righties today. Might be about Romney, or is it Allen West? It might be
Elizabeth Warren, or Allen Grayson that has their dander up. Give me a day or two, I'll put my finger on it.

zedster: Republican Math:
2004: 286 EV with 50.7% of popular vote (Kerry got 48.3%) = Mandate
2012: 300 EV with 50.3% of the popular vote (Romney got 48.1%) ≠ Mandate
Additionally, Gary Johnson got 1% of the vote, which can most likely be attributed to upset right wing voters, and Jill Stein .3% which is lower then Nader in 2008 who had .56% of the vote.

Why Obama Won

What we have now is a society where the traditional male role of husband/father has been supplanted by the government. 40% of all children are being born to single mothers, more than 70% if the mother is African American. America's voting population has experienced a dramatic change in the past 30 years.

Vodka Zombie: Nadie_AZ: Why do we pay attention to these people? They are never right on anything.

That's the thing. You have to kind of think that Republicans are waking up this morning, looking at Nate Silver, and then looking at Fox News and other right wing talking heads, and they might start realizing that facts can not be trumped by feelings. And, maybe they are starting to see the hazards of living in a bubble of information that pushes a dying ideology over a hard and easily provable reality.

Wow. You've never MET a Republican have you? Their reaction to the blow they suffered last night isn't to wonder how they could have been so wrong, but to pretend that they never said things they said, and neither did thier leaders and gurus. They are this morning grasping for any explanation that will soothe thier upset, no matter how far fetched. So some will believe that Obama stole the election using ballot machine chicanery (even though Bain capital controls the company that makes them), or hordes of illegals who committed Ballot fraud, or bribed black people (who are a gaint percentage of the US population in thier minds) with Obamaphones.

Others will claim they knew defeat was inevitable . THEY knew all along Romney was a disaster waiting to happen. He wasn't Nearly conservative ENOOUGH and that's why he lost.

But whatever they believe, they will desperately cling to pundits like krauthammer dispensing words of soothing comfort, no matter how out of whck with reality, because the alternative is to undergo a stark re-examination of the principles by which they've lived thier lives. Ideals which they've come to believe are not only right but divinely ordained and therefore cannot be questioned.

NateGrey: Why Obama Won

What we have now is a society where the traditional male role of husband/father has been supplanted by the government. 40% of all children are being born to single mothers, more than 70% if the mother is African American. America's voting population has experienced a dramatic change in the past 30 years.

As much as I abhor the extremist right wing, all this butthurt is getting kind of old.

From a friends sister:
I had to vote for Romney. I voted for Ron Paul 4 years ago and look how that turned out. But now that I know the majority of Americans really ARE stupid, and 4 years ago wasn't just a fluke, I will go back to voting my conscience.

...And we're back in reality.
Look at the conservative projections on what Obama. Still got your guns? yup. so that one is wrong. Taxes up? Nope, that one is wrong. Death panels? End of democracy? Not so much. He's not that bad, if you quit hating him and started working WITH him, things will be better.

I think what really chaffs the Rightyies is that they know things will be better despite them and after convincing themselves that only they are smart enough to get it right, having to admit the other side ISN'T full of idiots kills them.

They would rather be correct and destroy everything than admit being wrong and be successful.

The Iconoclast: Aren't there truth in advertizing laws? Why not have truth in journalism laws? Couldn't some kind of class-action be taken on behalf of the American people? A lot of stuff we're being fed by the "media" is just outright lies.

We have libel and slander laws, but the idea of the government being the arbiter of what is true, and being able to enforce that via law, runs counter to both the letter and spirit of the First Amendment.

qorkfiend: Carn: qorkfiend: The Iconoclast: We need to hold our "journalists" to higher standards. They are supposed to be the watchdogs of our society. How do we go about getting them to do their job?

Carn: He threw in a lot of liberal code words last night, as well as made it perfectly clear the Republicans would get one chance to immediately come to the table or they are going to learn thing or two about brass knuckles.

One thing's for sure; after the "fiscal cliff" hits, it will be highly amusing to watch the party of "fiscal responsibility" argue in favor of deliberately unbalancing the budget and taking on more debt to pay for upper-income tax cuts and more military spending.

But we need more boats! And stuff.

Listen - the US Navy's dwindling number of steam-powered sloops and tramp steamers is a huge national security risk! Why can't you see this? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!

Your obsession with boats will be our downfall! What good is having tons of boats if they will just fall off the Earth when they reach the edge? C'mon man, think!!!!

DamnYankees: For what it's worth, Barack Obama is now only the third Democrat in history to win 2 elections with 50%+ of the vote - FDR and Jackson.

Prank Call of Cthulhu: InmanRoshi: Andrew Sullivan has a chronological order of all of Morris' tweets from last night as the poll results come in.
It's pretty hilarious. Reminds me of watching people spin plates on the Johnny Carson show when I was a kid.

I don't know how the studio-to-studio transmission works, but I'd like to think that Dick sees a full-body shot of Megan in his monitor. She's sitting in her chair, wearing a short skirt, with bare legs and open-toed pumps. Her feet don't quite reach the floor, and she's letting one shoe slooooowly slip down, exposing her smooth arches, until it's just about to fall off, and then she crunches her toes, snapping the shoe back up with a slap against her bare foot. She repeats this over and over. Dick is trying furiously to remember what spin he's putting on the numbers, but oh sweet jesus there she goes again, just another inch and he'd see her whole foot, but no. SNAP. Up goes the shoe again. What was he talking about? Florida. Yeah, that's right, see, only 24% of the precincts are reporting in and oh my god there it goes again, look at those toes, oh how good they'd taste...

What a Krauthammer might look like.
