quickdraw: Weaver95: authoritarians all over are gonna scream bloody murder all week.

I must admit - this pleases me greatly.

lets see how Limbaugh and the other major GOP pundits call it today. He might say something classy and low key! hey, it could happen.

Who are you and what have you done with Weaver95?

Yeah, he won't be able to get much done with the idiots in the House playing as if they were grown ups. But having him in place to stop those people in the House who think 1875 was America's best year is exactly where we need Obama. Senate and Obama veto over the unsophisticated, reactionary House might not be the ideal, but it is much better than the nutters in control.

Don't expect the GOP for a second to recognize that the voters picked the Democrats. They're going to go further to the right and become even more intransigent if they can.

There will be no movement to end the Bush tax cuts for the rich so they will expire for everyone. The fiscal cliff will end with the automatic cuts. And we still have a farm bill that will never get passed, Medicare payments to doctors which will never get passed and we hit a deficit ceiling in March.

The GOP is going to block every single one of those, mark my words.

vernonFL: How cute. Krauthammer still thinks he's relevant.

Its reckoning time for all your lies and spin. Your career is as dead as your legs.

Krauthammer is one of the most revered minds in the entire conservative movement. NRO runs a weekly column called "Krauthammer's Take" where he essentially lays the groundwork for that week's GOP talking points. He is one of the main authors of the "official narrative." He's probably the second-most powerful non-politician in the entire GOP behind Rush Limbaugh. He's not going anywhere.

He's a detestable human being and a liar, of course, and he's driving the GOP off a cliff, but he's not going anywhere.

Well, they needed to do something about it before 2012 rolled around.

If the tax cuts expire and sequestration goes in place, we may not hit the debt ceiling.

Sorry GOP, but the more old white geezers that die, the more you fade into irrelevence.

When you were younger, issues like gay rights and civil rights were about "us not giving them more rights"

Today, young people grow up knowing gays. They grow up knowing minorities. So when you try to do the same conservative nonsense, it becomes "they are trying to take rights from us.

The sooner you realize the difference, the better.

They will never realize it. They will, as you stated, die off and fade into irrelevance.

Remember, when you lose there's no reason to stop and question how you might have done better. Instead, blame everyone around you and pretend that there's nothing wrong.

Was hearing that a lot last night; that Obama has no mandate. He won in a landslide. If it was a Republican that won they would be pounding home the point they had a mandate. If I was Obama I'd be teabagging the GOP right now. They have no chance of fighting back against him until 2015 or it'll harm they politically. Seriously, they can't. He doesn't have to worry about an election, they do. I fully expect that he'll be very aggressive for at least the next two years.

DamnYankees: For what it's worth, Barack Obama is now only the third Democrat in history to win 2 elections with 50%+ of the vote - FDR and Jackson.

Obama is a DINO, and wouldn't even come close to being nominated as a Democrat in either FDR's or Jackson's time.

The last time any Republican got as many electoral votes as Obama has TWICE was in 1988.

It has been 24 years!

Obama has MORE MANDATE than Dubya ever had. Suck it GOP! You farking losers.

tnpir: Cythraul: 'Quite bright,' eh? I think y'all need to do something about your 'minority problem' before 2050 rolls around. Unless you want to lose the electoral votes in Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, and Florida, that is.

Chuck Todd spoke to this very point this morning. The demographic changes are already (according to him) turning Georgia, Texas and Arizona slightly more purple (not enough to flip as yet, obviously), and unless the GOP finds a way to reach out to the Hispanic community, they are royally screwed.

And I'm perfectly okay with that.

You know, whoever gets the Dem nod in 2016 would do well to run a GOTV campaign in the more brown areas of Texas and Arizona. I'm not saying they can flip either state, but if they can push them in a more competitive direction, and get more Hispanics in those areas comfortable with voting, we could see some serious shiat go down.

2012-11-07 12:59:50 PM
No mandate? Even for Chuck, that's a stretch. Even the most optimistic of us libs thought Obama would lose the popular vote.

2012-11-07 01:00:01 PM

quatchi: If by "no mandate" Krautie means "a bigger mandate than Bush" he'd have a point.

Why so sour, Charles Kraut?

Was this what you were going for?

It's going to be funny watching a democrat get 430+ electoral votes in 20 years or so

I can get enterainment from almost anyone on Fox, but I cannot listen to Krauthammer speak. That Imperial glare, that blank emotionless stone face, that hoarse croaking voice, and then of course there's the crap he says. He's never entertaining, just mildly nauseating.

Ugliest person to ever appear on a TV screen. Well, maybe the woman who had her face ripped off by the gorilla was a wee bit worse.

Is there actually a Mrs. Krauthummer out there who sleeps with this ogre?

2012-11-07 01:04:47 PM

zedster: Republican Math:
2004: 286 EV with 50.7% of popular vote (Kerry got 48.3%) = Mandate
2012: 300 EV with 50.3% of the popular vote (Romney got 48.1%) ≠ Mandate
Additionally, Gary Johnson got 1% of the vote, which can most likely be attributed to upset right wing voters, and Jill Stein .3% which is lower then Nader in 2008 who had .56% of the vote.

Here ya go: Krauthammer after 2004 election

The more time the GOP nominee spends shoring up Texas and Arizona, the less time they have to campaign in Ohio and Florida.
