When you wake up to hearing that the American people have decided against rape as a political policy, that working classes should be represented, that prohibition is stupid, that equality should be for all people regardless and that we have another 4 years of an improving, worthwhile growth as a nation; it renews your faith in the people and this country. It's morning in America and I couldn't be happier.

Good morning, America. I missed you.

The Congress' mean intelligence just rose about 20 IQ points with the Bill Foster win. A particle physicist who started up a company that sells most of the theatre lighting in the US.

Get this man on all congressional science advisory boards, ASAP.

No, for the most part the House remained unchanged.

It kind of feels like the country is settling into some form of equilibrium with respect to partisan polarization

When your team hits a game winning home run, you don't lament how he dirtied his shoes as he rounds the bases.

True, but Bachmann BARELY won an election in a completely re-districted area that was designed solely to keep her elected. That's good almost any way you slice it.

Allen West was unhinged. He accused Democratic Congresspeople of being literally card-carrying communists. Like that even happens nowadays. Good riddance. The average IQ of washington just went up a point.

As a Romney supporter and someon with generally conservative values, if asked about whether I would support an abortion of a fetus brought about by rape my answer would be simple: What in the world does this have to do about getting the economy back on track?

You know who gives answers like this? Chris Christie.

Yup. I think we should be pushing for referendums to get independent panels to do redistricting.

And vote by mail.

Spent a bit of time soaking up the Freeper fury last night.

There was something soul-cleansing about watching these people who subsist entirely on rage and fear, completely blind to objective reality suddenly getting slapped in the face by that aforementioned reality.

But I learned something: They're not really stupid at all. They're just stubbornly defiant of reality.

I saw numerous posts in threads like 'how the fark did this happen???' where people simply posted:

"There's more of them than there is of us."

Morose and spiteful, but simply right. They understand that they're dying out.

The fact that they grasp their inevitable fate to dwindle to an insignificant handful, a political joke and a shameful footnote in history books to come...The fact that they 'know' it, well, that just makes it all the more delicious to read.

Igor Jakovsky: read a local article saying west stayed in the back room the whole time and supposedly left around midnight without even addressing his supporters who were at his party. Tells you a bit about the kind of guy he is.

I'm sure his supporters were just as butthurt as he was.

Weepy Boehner needs to just crawl away. The "Gone Old Party" is done. Please, someone, stick a fork in it.

You think any of the people who voted for free stuff yesterday would have been dissuaded by Gingrich successfully painting Obama as a communist?

Most people vote for whoever promises free stuff, no matter what. But as ye reap, so shall ye sow. Meanwhile, maybe I can get one of those free Obama "pho's" ...

Yes indeed. So much talk here on FR is about how to strategize, who to nominate in 2016, and so on. This is all useless. American needs repentance. Polls show Obama one because single women wanted free abortion and free birth control. There is only one reason single women would want those things: They are rejecting God's moral will and going headlong into fornication and promiscuity, and they want someone else to pay for the consequences.

If America is not brought to repentance in sackcloth and ashes, it doesn't matter who we nominate or what political strategies we pursue. Truth cannot win.

Even so, come Lord Jesus.

As a single woman, I would like freepers to know that birthcontrol (free or otherwise), will take care of the abortions part of their worries.

On the contrary. With the Tea Party pretty much defanged, her presence will continue to serve up useful sound bites to remind people of why they were a terrible idea.

Bachmann had a massive cash advantage in a very red district and eked out a win by 3,937 votes out of more than 355,000. A few more wins like it and the GOP is lost.

Minnesota is a weird farking state. Urban St. Paul/Minneapolis is dark, dark blue. Rural Minnesota is light blue. Sandwhiched between them is suburbia St. Paul, so deep red they keep re-electing a Congresswoman too DERP for even Iowa GOP Primary voters to stomach.

Lost in this: 20-year incumbent (and Tea Partier - the guy once compared government-backed student loans to the Holocaust) Roscoe Bartlett (R-MD) was defeated by John Delaney (D-MD). I guess it remains to be seen where Delaney's politics lie - he's the son of union laborers, but made his fortune in business - but this is good for Montgomery County.

Bartlett was also the "victim" of redistricting. I won't argue that it probably helped them on balance, but there are other wins.
