Bummer. Looks like they enjoyed themselves on stage together. I am guessing the new mom wants to stay home with her kids.

That's a shame. They're one of the few "country" acts even remotely interesting.

They did a set on Prairie Home Companion that was absolutely amazing. They're studio work isn't nearly as good, though.

Yes, they had accompaniment, but essentially they are a husband/wife duo.

Shame. I enjoyed their music.

Too bad about their break-up. She'll be able to make it in pop music because she's hot. He'll have to go back to making Pirates of the Caribbean 4.

Not a trend - women performers are still having babies quite often. It seems so much easier than back in the prime of Linda Ronstadt/Stevie Nicks/ONJ.

But I digress. I also agree that if she's leaving the act to be a SAHM, more power to her.

Downloaded one of their albums a few years ago before a road trip and loaded into the playlist for the trip. Honest, that was the worst 45 minutes of the trip. With their limited instrumentation and choice of songs, the whole thing blended into one dull drone. Amazed I didn't drive into the ditch, lulled into a stupor.

I'm still trying to figure out what the fuss is/was all about with them

First time I saw one of their videos, I thought it was Johnny Depp in some side project. Like how Russell Crowe was in a band for a while.

My girlfriend is pretty bummed about this. But it has strengthened her thinking that babies ruin everything, which makes me very happy. Plus I dont really care about their music, so its nothing but a win for me.

Doubt it. I suspect there's more to it than that. If it was mutual they would have put out a press release saying...

"With the new baby we're going to take a break for a couple of months... but don't worry. We'll be back better than ever!!!"

I'm in the biz here in Nashville. I'll ask around and see if I can find out what the real deal is.

I'll wager that she and her hubby think she could do as well, if not better, as a solo act.

I have heard she is a super devout Christian type. Perhaps hubby doesn't want her hanging out with musicians all night long.
