Not only that but they got killed in many down ticket races especially here in MN, rep Corndog Deepthroat's narrow victory notwithstanding.
Majority Dems in state house and senate for the first time in decades and both derpy constitutional amendments shot down.

skullkrusher: Smallest margin of victory since Carter (and Bush but a negative margin of victory is undefined in this context)

Obama is the first President since FDR to win re-election with more than 50% of the popular vote.

So depending on what facts you choose to highlight it's either a huge deal or not decisive at all.

Cletus C.: I was laughing until this:

Ed Henry, reporting stone-faced from Obama headquarters as it erupts in jubiliation: "The crowd is near pandemonium now, despite the fact that unemployment is hovering near 8 percent."

That's just asswipey.

Better, from their "Obama wins" article last night:
"This will be Obama's last election, or so he claims."

skullkrusher: Fox's graphics were FOOKED. I was going between MSNBC and FNC and I literally had no idea what was going on when I watched Fox. It wasn't a deliberate propaganda thing or anything, they just couldn't get their shiat together in terms of displaying info

That's one thing I don't understand; I have a serious disrespect of Fox News, but in 2008? Their election map both on their network and online were top of the line, several orders of magnitude better then the other networks. Their online one especially made the other networks look like a Geocities page. This year? It was crap. Didn't they save any of the code/formats from 2008?

tforbes: i'll never watch that partisan hackery after a random clip of people dancing in Kenya after they called it Obama.

In their defense, BBC also did Kenya.

zappaisfrank: My Conservative friends are all still in resistance mode..

"We are SO SCREWED"..seems to be the general consensus.

Live in Texas. There's barely been a mention of it at work. These are the people who couldn't go one day without trashing Obama at random about ANYTHING and not a single damn mention of it. It's like the election didn't even happen.

It doesn't matter if it was decisive. If it was it wouldn't have changed anything anyway. See Obama's "mandate" in 2008.

I'd say a 36% EV margin and a 7.2% popular vote margin is a decent enough of a gap to be considered a mandate. No candidate today is going to pull a Reagan or a Roosevelt

I don't understand how they managed such a huge step backwards. Say what you will about Fox's ethics, their competency and production values have always been high; their 2008 website coverage was incredible. Curious as to what happened to all the people who were responsible for that, as they've obviously still not with the company.

Damn shame that it can be a bit pricey, though. Usually runs 12-15 a six pack here in Texas. Local alcohol chain, Specs, has it on sale this week for 9.99 for a six pack or 9.99 for a four pack of their higher end / special brew lines. Dropped 100+ yesterday on their products due to this. :0

Can't stand the markup at bars.

When I turned 21 friends took me out to a place just off campus, PK Pizza. This being a college down, every place on main street is a bar/grill/restaurant and most of them had very good food. Waitress came up, rattled out their current alcohol specials, and at the end "Oh, and our main beer special tonight is bottles of Sam Adams for $2.50 a bottle." And I thought to myself, "Wait, isn't Sam Adams currently $5.59 a six pack at Kroger? How the fark is tripling the price a farking special? You whore!"

This is odd. Traditionally, dems biatch about the EC, and repubs defend it.

Despite all that, Obama still won the popular vote.

The EC is dumb, the only state that mattered was Ohio, the minute they called it the election was over. Most of the central time zone was still counting (1% reporting) and the election was over. That is sad.

Even though the president we will have for the next four years is not considered pro-business, we, as a company and team, have already proven that we can excel in such an environment. What we need to do now is leave the gloom and doom behind us, and focus even harder on the things we can control. In closing, I would say good luck, but luck has nothing to do with it.
