FTA: As midnight nears and reality sinks in, Megyn Kelly takes out her frustration on liberal colleague Susan Estrich: "You, having managed the Michael Dukakis campaign, are familiar with the losing feeling."

Agreed. The bottom half of the screen was a cluster fark

whatevs, BO's speech was nothing short of inspirational. Honestly, no sarcasm there. I am not a huge fan of the guy but that was an amazing bit of rhetoric. I was also wasted but if I watch it again, I bet I get the same USA! USA! feel

That's because he was using a teleprompter.

Oh, and one other beautiful thing.

The right spent $1,000,000,000 trying to force this three-legged horse across the finish line and untold millions more on creating a firewall against Obama in the event he won and they. Got. NOTHING. THEY LOSE. FARK OFF, SIRS.

It was obvious how all the news sources were going to cover the election returns after the first hour. ABCNews simply refused to report anything from a battleground state except "it's too close to call". Then they would breathlessly report the solid red and blue states as if there was a surprise in any of them. Obviously the need to keep pushing the "horse race" theme continued right into the returns, until the numbers were too obvious to ignore any longer.

/got to keep viewer attention on them, you know

Krauthammer is going to catch a little heat, isn't he? Physicians aren't supposed to say things like "Hey, need a scrip? Come on down, I've got a whole pad of blank ones. Oh, and bring your wallet." At least not on TV.

I realize it was intended as a joke of some kind, but the AMA and FCC aren't really known for their sense of humor.

Everyone gets that this is good for Fox right? Fox, Glenn beck, Rachel Maddow, Bill Maher, O'Reilly, all of them use outrage as the fuel for their ratings which = more $$$ for them.

I bet the conservative political commentators deep, deep down in places they don't talk about were secretly hoping for an Obama victory and left political commentators were secretly hoping for an Romney win because it's easier to provide outrage when your party doesn't have a super majority.

I never got the hate on Fox, they found their niche with convective viewers because it's less about activism it's about the money, that's what makes the world go round.

As long as there is a market for biased information there is always be left and right biased media. If you really want to get rid of Fox, teach people that nothing is ever 100% right or wrong, republicans and democrats, unions, abortion, drug legalization... all have positives and negatives associated.

The only thing holding humanity back are Egos are so big that we buy into an idea so hard and want to be true so bad we forget that there is chance we could be wrong about everything we know and believe.

Nucleus: Day 1 - It's the media's fault.

Actually FOX this morning was blaming Obama's negative campaign strategy.

I watched the whole thing unfold on FOX last night, it was awesome especially when the cameras followed Megan down the hallway for what seemed like 5 mins, then when she got there the "expert" said it was over.

Usually they work with pre-prepared "facts" that have been carefully massaged to fit the story line, processing reality is new for them.

It's bad news for Fox. It further proves that they are facing the same gradual demographic extinction as the Republican Party that they are a part of.

Sure, their viewers will still be riled up and angry and tuning in to hear Hannity and O'Reilly rant. But Fox's bigger problem is the same as the GOP's - those viewers are older, whiter, maler, and more religious than the general population, and there are fewer and fewer of them each year.

Even better as Fox News not only called Ohio for Obama while Rove was ranting, but FN had more electoral votes shown for obama than the other networks. They had him at 290 while the others were still at 274.

Guess FN is part of that liberal media msm media.

This was one of the first things I posted on FB about the election last night. NBC News/MSNBC looked professional while Fox News looked totally amateur. Absolutely no information hierarchy, designed exclusively for standard-def and using dated, 90's style design (cut corners, bevels, etc).

It was absolute shiate. Fox News content is what it is but it is usually much more polished than what they had last night. Someone's team is getting fired

Delicious... as anticipated.

Not as good as all the whining coming from my "conservative" friends, though. Most of them are in the acceptance phase right now after freaking out last night.

It was the media's fault for calling the election too early for Obama, apparently... That swayed over two million Americans on the west coast not to vote for Romney. Seriously, this is what one of them is saying. ...Along with the usual biatching about the Electoral College, of course.

keylock71: Not as good as all the whining coming from my "conservative" friends, though. Most of them are in the acceptance phase right now after freaking out last night.

I'm kind of amused by the degree in which the Republicans were caught surprised by Obama's win. They didn't just think he'd lose, but they thought the EV count would be reversed in Romney's favor. Hell, even though I was disappointed as a Kerry supporter in 2004, I at least knew going in that the race was going to be close either way.

This is odd. Traditionally, dems biatch about the EC, and repubs defend it.

Despite all that, Obama still won the popular vote.
