Under the influence of alcohol and marijuana? Yeah right, more like 2358346943 hits of acid. Yes, very darwinesque.

2003-12-03 02:19:58 PM
So was the Neon alright?

2003-12-03 03:03:50 PM
Amazing how drunk people tend to walk away from these things unscathed.

When I totalled my car a long time ago, it looked like the car had been worked over by the Hulk with a sledgehammer, and I didn't get a scratch.

2003-12-03 03:16:28 PM
Actually I believe there is some science behind why drunk people often don't get hurt in accidents. I think the reason was that their muscles where more relaxed.

Dumbass indeed... a NEON?

2003-12-03 03:55:46 PM
WTF?

2003-12-03 03:56:55 PM
Didn't RTFA, but I bet $5 the Neon is worse off than the guy is.

2003-12-03 03:57:39 PM
Pretty extreme.

2003-12-03 03:58:09 PM
you know dodge has built one helluva a car when it LOOSES a collision with a naked man.

drunks - 1
dodge neons - 0

2003-12-03 03:59:09 PM
I'm not impressed, most bugs live through Neon collisions.

Neon traveling at 55 mph.
McVicker continued to act irrationally until his friends finally forced him into submission.

Getting hit by a neon traveling at 55 mph results in no apparent injury.

Whodathunkit.

About 15 years ago I was plastered and I plowed into a car in front of me. I went sailing through the windshield and finally came to rest on the hood of the car. After I was arrested and then taken to the hospital, the doctor asked me if I had been wearing a seat belt. I said no, and he told me I probably wouldn't have survived if I had been wearing a seat belt. As crazy as that sounds, it's true. To this day, and four tickets later, I do not wear a seat belt.

Sounds like someone needs a time out.. or a nap... or something...

2003-12-03 04:02:04 PM
Dang, this guy knows how to PAR-TAY!

2003-12-03 04:02:05 PM
Damn. No Darwin. This guy really deserved it.

Dodge Neon reaches 55 mph? Must've been the "turbo" model. :)

2003-12-03 04:02:13 PM
And this is wrong, how?

2003-12-03 04:04:40 PM
It's too bad it wasn't a Mack truck.

Sounds more like he'd been smoking methanol.

2003-12-03 04:05:26 PM
Didn't know a Neon can go that fast.

My mom has a Neon, it's shiaty car. It makes funny noises.

2003-12-03 04:07:11 PM
I can't remember ever wanting to run at all when high, let alone run across a street, into a river, up a hill naked and onto a car. Those guys need better pot.

2003-12-03 04:09:42 PM
Neon's suck.

I had a friend of mine in high school trade her 1967 Mustang for a Neon. As unreliable as the old Mustang was, the new Neon was even worse.

There's never a big rig around when you need one ...

2003-12-03 04:11:15 PM

When I read a manflung himself naked at a car, before seeing it was a Neon, I thought it was this car he was after ...

Did they check for any other drugs? Beer and weed sound pretty tame for the sheit he was doing. Did they check for PCP and Whitecastle?

Don't ever buy a car that has an "Espresso" version available.

Must've been the "turbo" model. :)

LOL!

Ever see really oversized people driving around in little cars like that? It doesn't look right. Looks funny.

2003-12-03 04:15:32 PM
How stupid was this guy, out of all the cars he could have thrown himself at he goes and picks a Dodge Neon. Let this be a warning to all you naked, drugged up, highway hopping suicidal maniacs out there. If you want to off yourself, a 55 mph Neon ain't gonna get the job done.

2003-12-03 04:15:34 PM
Was it one of these guys?

would have been a lot more fun if it was my truck
neons/focus =0
deer =0

this reminds me to order a large brush guard for my Avalanche..and a nice lift kit.
Neons are cool for their purpose (city driving where u want good gas mileage and dont care about any passengers in the back seat)
but what i dont get is how Dodge has riced them out to be fast.. yet they are still as ugly as sin. their huge round headlights make them look like the Jerry's Kids of cars.

Neon RT driver: Im fast, im so fast
Other driver: ..and so ugly. making you the first person to get laughed at no matter where u go.

Criminal Diversion Program?
Is that like Jail?

Hmm, people die waiting for organ transplants and the like, and this guy survives. Um yea, there is a god, not.

2003-12-03 04:22:04 PM
I drive an '89 Chevy Celebrity, and I rammed a Neon once at 35 MPH when the stupid ditz driving it pulled out in front of me - ten feet away - onto a main artery. Neon was torn apart, my bumper got dented. Fortunately, no one was really hurt.

I'd be really surprised if a naked man didn't rip a Neon apart.

2003-12-03 04:22:37 PM
Nevermind. I read the rest of the article.

It should be jail, though.

2003-12-03 04:29:20 PM
Just wait 'til this guy turns around and tries to sue the fark out of Dodge.

2003-12-03 04:31:41 PM
How the hell did this guy run 55 mph, naked? My best naked highway sprinting time was only 15 mph.

Dear Chris:

I really won't tbe offended if you can't make it to tonight's cocktail party. Really.

Actually I cancelled it so don't bother coming over.

Also, I won't be needing to carpool next week. I um, prefer the bus.

I see the know-nothings are having a real Neon hate fest here. Hitting a human wouldn't be too much different than hitting a deer at speed. Economy cars are often totaled when hitting a large pile of muscle and gristle in the middle of the road. Yep, even Hondas.
By the way, my 96 with 153,000 still runs fine, got other friends with high mileage Neons. Now if you want to see yard ornaments, just drive around and count all the Geos and Hondas in back yards sometime. Not very good storage sheds though, seeing how those imports rust.

Yeah they say when you don't know that your going to get hit it's better because if you know it's coming you tense up and that leads to worse injuries.

Geos aren't really imports. Geo was a joint venture between GM and Suzuki.

252,000 miles on my 1998 R/T. Paid $5K less for it than I would have paid for a Civic, and Honda only made 130 hp beaters at the time anyway (no Si yet). I beat the crap out of this car every day and it keeps coming back for more. I never have to drive my Vette in the snow because of the Neon.

A woman I know was asleep (passenger) when the car got t-boned (on her side). She was seriously injured had brain damage, etc., but they said if she had been awake she probably would have died. Something to do with how your body relaxes when sleeping.

Strips naked.

Strips. Naked.

Huh.

Geos aren't really imports. Geo was a joint venture between GM and Suzuki.

Prizm: Toyota Corolla
Tracker: Suzuki Sidekick
Metro: Suzuki Swift
Storm: Mitsubishi Impulse

Am I right? And wasn't the old Dodge 50 truck a Mitsubishi P'up? And the Dodge Conquest a Mitsubishi Starion? And the Mitsubishi Precis a Hyundai Excel?

I could go on...

2003-12-03 06:09:18 PM
Safeinsane: Isuzu made the Impulse :) Otherwise, you're right.

As for you folks with high- mileage neons: Yes, they will go that long... but with how many repairs? How many head gaskets have had to be replaced? how many door seals have been changed? (or do you just deal with the whistling?) I don't look at mileage when I consider how good a car is- ANY car built today can easily make 150,000 with minimal care, and 200,000 miles with good care. What matters is how many repairs are made along the way.

As for the guy with the '89 Celebrity: I assume you T- boned the Neon? have it be the other way around, and the damage will be the other way around as well. Why? because front ends are made to take a lot of shiat before collapsing, whereas the sides of any car are made from thin sheet metal.
I'm no fan of Neons, as they are generally utter shiat as far as reliability goes, but they are far from slow. The standard model is faster than the standard model of any other domestic car in its class, as well as the standard model of most Imports in its class. The higher- output versions are damn quick.
