As someone who played casters exclusively (the three clothies, elemental/restoration shaman) from Zul'Gurub through Ulduar, I would never vote for a rogue.

Trocadero: As someone who played casters exclusively (the three clothies, elemental/restoration shaman) from Zul'Gurub through Ulduar, I would never vote for a rogue.

I remember the first time a rogue camped my priest. Within the first few weeks of playing (started in BC), I was somewhere in the 20's and this d-bag who was significantly higher level than me decided it would be a good time to kill me over and over. It was frustrating. When I mentioned it to a friend of mine, he came over on his warrior and rescued me. Then he set up a little camp fire next to the rogues corpse and sat down. I asked him what he was doing and he told me he was letting the rogue know they were going to be there for a while.

What I found really amusing was that the GOP was trying to make her out as a violent person, when really, her most recent activity was fishing in Northrend, which is actually very relaxing.

As for her getting to 85, this might be her only character and she has been a WoW player for a number of years.

The President:
Would the clerk of the Senate please continue to record roll call.

Senator Baker?

Sen Baker: Present.

The President:
Senator Tompkins?

Sen Tompkins: Present

The President:
Senator Lachowicz?

Sen Lachowicz: Ready to work!

The President: Fine.

The present motion on the agenda is amendment IV, subsection four A of the proposed $3 million spending to improve highway sections four, six and seven on the DOT appropriation bill. Senators shall vote by voice.

Senator Baker?

Sen Baker: Aye.

The President:
Senator Tomkins?

Sen Tomkins: Nay

The President:
Senator Lachowicz?

Sen Lachowicz: FOR THE HORDE!

The President: Senator Lachowicz, for the last time, please indicate either "aye" "nay" or "present"

Sen Lachowicz: (grumbling) Grombolar

The President: What was that?

Sen Lachowicz: Nothing, my Warchief.

The President: And stop calling me... that. You're a Senator duly elected to serve the state of Maine, not some yahoo Newfie.

Sen Lachowicz: Swo'bu.

The President: So, how do you vote?

Sen Lachowicz: Zug zug.

The President: Alright, you leave me no choice. Sergeant of Arms, please escort Senator Lachowicz from the chamber until she starts speaking English again?

Sen Lachowicz withdraws a battleaxe from her cloak and quickly dispatches the Sergeant of Arms, turning her attention back to the President.

Sen Lachowicz: We need NEW Warchief now. (cleaves the President's head from his shoulders, holding it aloft with pride) Lok-Tar!

(The rest of the Senate watches in muted, horrified silence, Lachowicz ascends to the rostrum and buries the head of her axe in the wooden dias)

Sen Lachowicz: (grins and pulls a flask of bloodwine from her frostweave bag) Work complete!

(Graphic: ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED - ASCEND TO POWER - STATE SENATE PRESIDENT)

Seriously though, congrats and good luck!

SW:TOR is fun if you like story. The quests are a lot of fun for your character story, and even more fun if you do world levelling in a party. You get some hilarious results when people with different motives win the conversation roll-offs.

quatchi: Try grinding herbalism these days while questing, you gain ridiculous XP. I swear 40% of those 90 levels were gotten by picking a few flowers while questing. Between that and all the BOAs available even without RAF levelgrinding is easysauce.

My husband (tailor/enchant) is giving me crap for this (herb/inscription). I think he's jealous I'm outlevelling him without trying.

She would have got my vote for playing an orc.

Online games are just elves and more elves these days, so she must be a cool person to play a female orc rogue.
farking blood elves, man, they ruined my faction. I don't even play WoW any more and I still have hatred in me for blood elves.

Rogues can't use battleaxes (two-handers). I remember the days they couldn't even use regular axes.

As an Alliance player, I hold no ill will and wish her the best in her career. Hopefully when things cool down, she'll have some time to enjoy Mists, too.

FormlessOne: Monkeyhouse Zendo: Gwendolyn: Know when that is happening? I may reroll and try again.

SWTOR F2P is supposed to happen this month some time. You're limited on flashpoints, operations and space combat (who cares) but can play the leveling game and class stories all the way through 50.

...which is the only part of the game that actually matters, as SWTOR lacks any sort of endgame, balance, or economy. That's why the most expensive MMO to produce in history is going F2P less than a year after its release - because blowing your wad on voice talent is useless if you don't have a friggin' game to go with it. SWTOR was a major disappointment not just for folks looking to spend real time in a Star Wars MMO, but for anyone interested in playing an MMO.

Sadly, I agree with this. I'm playing through the class-storylines, because that's the only really cool thing about the game. Getting through group content (flashpoints) is nearly impossible: I have to deal with a**holes who sign up to run through it, and then either drop out for stupid reasons ("I'm hungry...gotta grab a snack...kthx"), or ragequit when things don't go their way.

Yeah, I know these things happen on all MMOs, but I didn't see too much of this when I was playing WoW...

Now she needs to start a senatorial guild. Reach across the aisles and help newbs level. Gridlock in government will not be because of partisan bickering, but loot drama and wipes. They can buy and sell bill support based on DKP. Lobbyists will become gold farmers. Maybe they can even do battlegrounds against senates of other states; imagine a Maine vs. Texas Alterac Valley showdown.

This is government I can get behind.

ShadowLAnCeR: ThatBillmanGuy: So SWTOR is a letdown, huh? Any idea when they're gonna make another sw mmo that takes place in the X-wing era?

/now that City of Heroes is being killed off, had to find a new mmo. Star Trek online is a pointless f2p "buy our lockboxes to get new stuff you have a 0.007% of actually obtaining, but thanks for the $10!" so I just started playing WoW for the first time.

Try Champions Online. Its kinda like CoH lite, the PVP is instanced, there are dayly events for crafting material, money, or XP. Some night complain it is grindy but ALL MMORPGs are grindy so the point is moot.

Just saying, might be worth checking out.

/you also get your travel power faster.

Fantasy-based, but LotRO is f2p/microtransaction, and they just released the Rohan expansion. I recently restarted on a new server and I'm having fun, taking my time with leveling and factions.

Monkeyhouse Zendo: quatchi: I ground a Pandaren Monk from level 1 to 90 in about 3 days. It doesn't take that long.

Pretty much why I walked away from WoW after WotLK. I was tempted by the Kung Fu Pandas but once SWTOR goes F2P I'll have my MMO habit taken care of until I play through all the class stories.

Well of course you can level fast if that's what you want to do. Of course you can also do it slowly and enjoy the game. "I powerleveled as fast as I possibly could and now there's nothing for me to do!" isn't a valid complaint.

quatchi: Victory or Death!

Aw wow, today has been great on so many levels but seeing Colleen Lachowicz win out in her Maine Senate campaign especially after having her opponent attempt to besmirch her just because she happened to play a little WOW is really the icing on the cake!

Welcome to the Senate, CL. I think you'll find it's a lot like Barrens chat in many ways.

No, you imbecile, it wasn't her opponent, it was her opponents party. Her opponent ran a 'clean' campaign to get elected the first time around, and was put in the difficult position of not telling his party to fark off while still maintaining that he was clean. It was a party funded campaign, not a candidate funded campaign - but don't let little things like facts interrupt your party warfare.

Don't level up that fast. The folks who do are the ones complaining that there is no content. Take your time and enjoy everything, it's not like you get a discount for rushing through 90% of the game.

Good advice. I am amazed at some of the details that go into the actual game world. And im often surprised at some of the stupid little things they throw in (like a bomb defused named Macgruder). The only reason I was in such a hurry was because i hear wow has an actual end game where you actually have things to do once you max out. Unlike Star Trek online which consumed a lot of my mmo time over the last couple of years.

WoW has a huge world and a ton of content to explore. Take it slow and check out everything, you'll be surprised how immersed you'll get into some things. And don't forget to check out both the Alliance and the Horde's sides.

After Cataclysm, there's a quest in the Swamp of Sorrows where the Prophen Velen makes a personal appearence. Seems he's saving up his power for some future final showdown with the Burning Legion, so he doesn't exert himself much.

Still, I wonder why the other Alliance leaders let young King Wrynn take the lead, considering the night elf and draenei leaders are tens of thousands of years older.

Yes. I also enjoyed Salt, On and Stone. Couldn't get into Polystom, though. The idea of flying a biplane from one planet to another intrigued me but for some reason the writing style turned me off.

Check out Karl Schroeder's Virga books if you like that one, though.

And parts of NMA reminded me a bit of Ken MacLeod's Star Fraction stuff.

LOL I was talking to an old guildie bud just yesterday and he finally got that. Had to bribe another guildy 16K after he lost the roll but he's got his transmog/bragging rights piece now. I don't get that whole collector mentality quite frankly but we all have our in game goals.

On the one hand, the attacks against her were stupid.

On the other hand, she's one of those Horde ruffians. I much prefer my Draenei resto shaman.

I injured my knee last summer, so I spent a few weeks playing WoW, and I only got to level 40 or so. I regained the ability to walk shortly after getting a multi-target healing spell, which made the game much more fun. I sort of wish I had more time for it these days so I could see if it gets better at higher levels, but I also wouldn't want to rush too much. Exploring and questing is just as fun as LFG dungeons, and it's a lot slower, so it doesn't bypass the game.

No kidding. I've done the Worgen starting questline multiple times and enjoyed it immensely. I wound up deleting all but one of them, but the point was to be engaged in a two hour story, not to max level them.
