ChaoticLimbs: Isn't anyone concerned with her Horde affiliation?

It's assumed. She's a politician.

t3knomanser: fusillade762: "I'm not magic. You lead yourselves."

God that book was preachy. It was an enjoyable, light read, but daaaammmmnnnnn does Doctorow really climb up on the pulpit these days. REAMDE covered similar territory, but in the context of a political thriller, and was much better (aside from the, "Hi, I'm Neal Stephenson, and I will cram my book full of ideas, but can't write an ending, so we'll just slam the plot into a brick wall and call it a day.")

Agreed for the most part. I liked the spirit of the book. I wouldn't say preachy, but he does seem to launch into passages overexplaining things a number of times.

I need to revisit Stephenson. I'm utterly intimidated by the Baroque Cycle. And I haven't read README and oddly enough a quick google gets me this:

Stephenson's REAMDE: perfectly executed, mammoth, ambitious technothriller

I can't tell if the image at the top of the article is intended as an attack ad against her or a positive ad towards her.
The page at the URL in question, which basically just lists a variety of semi-awesome quotes of hers isn't helping in that department either.

I say skip it. I got about 25% into the first book and lost interest. No way I'm reading all of that.

Snow Crash, Cryptonomicon, The Diamond Age, REAMDE all great books.
Anathem was a good story but had room for improvement (and the "lemme just throw an ending together"ness was pretty apparent).
I have Zodiac on my Kindle but haven't read it yet.

quatchi: I ground a Pandaren Monk from level 1 to 90 in about 3 days. It doesn't take that long.

Pretty much why I walked away from WoW after WotLK. I was tempted by the Kung Fu Pandas but once SWTOR goes F2P I'll have my MMO habit taken care of until I play through all the class stories.

SWTOR F2P is supposed to happen this month some time. You're limited on flashpoints, operations and space combat (who cares) but can play the leveling game and class stories all the way through 50.

I walked away after Cata with 10 85s ground cos I kinda burned out and then played the shiat outta Skyrim and D3 before returning. I was on the fence about returning for MOP but then I heard that Blizz had made a new 11th slot available.

[challengeaccepted] I thought to meself.

Brewmaster tanking is just too darn sweet to not play with. Still like my tankadin, my DK tank, my Warrior Tank and my Beartank but hot damn is Panda tanking a blast. The stagger mechanic alone is a worthy addition to the game.

...which is the only part of the game that actually matters, as SWTOR lacks any sort of endgame, balance, or economy. That's why the most expensive MMO to produce in history is going F2P less than a year after its release - because blowing your wad on voice talent is useless if you don't have a friggin' game to go with it. SWTOR was a major disappointment not just for folks looking to spend real time in a Star Wars MMO, but for anyone interested in playing an MMO.

I'll try monk eventually, but with 28 other characters.. every class and spec already.. it can wait.

Started on my brother's account originally, 2 months after launch.

Totally agree. I stuck it out longer than most solely because I'd followed its development for so long but once you hit end game there was nothing that engaged you especially if you'd come from games that had burned you out on the dailies treadmill. SWTOR took the themepark model to its extreme and completely overlooked areas where games had engaged and retained subs outside that model.

Clinton was on The Daily Show when the subject of video games came up. Bill Clinton mentioned being able to relate to video game addiction, and made a gesture of holding a control pad. I suspect it was an x-box, but not being a console person I don't know for sure. I started a TF thread about it, but no one knew what game he plays.

Leisure Suit Larry was one of the better answers.

Did I sound just a bit disappointed? :) I'm an avid MMO consumer, and so SWTOR was a huge letdown for both me and my wife, as we were huge SWG fans before "Smedley's Folly" destroyed that game. But, no, we ended up with a lavish "Choose Your Own Adventure" book, complete with fake choices and railed content, but with no real payoff at the end other than "Whee! You finished the story!"

So SWTOR is a letdown, huh? Any idea when they're gonna make another sw mmo that takes place in the X-wing era?

/now that City of Heroes is being killed off, had to find a new mmo. Star Trek online is a pointless f2p "buy our lockboxes to get new stuff you have a 0.007% of actually obtaining, but thanks for the $10!" so I just started playing WoW for the first time.

Don't level up that fast. The folks who do are the ones complaining that there is no content. Take your time and enjoy everything, it's not like you get a discount for rushing through 90% of the game.

Try Champions Online. Its kinda like CoH lite, the PVP is instanced, there are dayly events for crafting material, money, or XP. Some night complain it is grindy but ALL MMORPGs are grindy so the point is moot.

Just saying, might be worth checking out.

/you also get your travel power faster.
