From 538:

Just more than three-quarters of the vote has been reported in Chesterfield County, Va., an important suburban and exurban region southwest of Richmond. In the tally so far, Mitt Romney leads President Obama 54 percent to 45 percent. If those percentages hold, Mr. Romney's performance there would match almost exactly Senator John McCain's margin of victory in Chesterfield County in 2008: 53 percent to 46 percent. Former President George W. Bush, however, when he carried the state in 2004, won Chesterfield County with 63 percent of the vote.

Greil: Greil: d-fens99: Who among us is brave enough to face the derp over at freerepublic and see what they're saying?

I shall go.

*dons armor*

oh god oh god oh god WHY DID I DO THAT?!

Levity aside, they're active but the derp isn't even at cruising speed yet. Romney's early calls have set them to "calm" for the moment. They are panincking over the number of women voting though.

I'm sure it's just surprise that women are allowed to vote.

29% in, Donnelly leads Mourdock by 39K votes.

rohar: Clowns are a Ten: They had to have farked up Florida. Broward County is the most democratic in the state, and Romney is winning there 3 to 1 atm.

Romney doing ATM? I figured the magic underwear would lead to kink, but I just didn't see that coming.

I totally saw him coming during atm.

Some seemed surprised that Nelson is the projected winner, for some reason.

Ever seen the movie The Mist? Where a guy volunteers to be roped out of the supermarket and then they pull back a bloody body part?

The same thing will happen to the poor fool that looks up FR.

fringedmyotis: Um, OK, maybe somebody can mansplain this to me:

I'm watching the 'live' maps on Google and Politico. Both just kicked Obama's EVs way up past Rmoney's, presumably based on some of the NE states. Only thing is, they still show 0.0% reporting.

Da fuq?

Exit polling?
A lot of projected winners are based off of exit polling and not actual results - until they have results.

I'm all set for the entertainment this evening.
I've got a 12+ of beer and plenty of hard stuff if needed.
And I don't have to work tomorrow ... ever. :)

Hate that MSNBC chose Al Sharpton to make the point I made on my twitter this morning. I sounded more eloquent in 140 characters.

OBAMA: 50%

53% in

Wow that's very different than before.

jayhawk88: the.swartz: The election coverage sounds and looks like a football game. Silly indeed.

National politics is basically the 5th major sport in America. If you needed any more proof of this, the "Predict the Electorals" things cinches it. In another 2 elections everyone will be using Yahoo to run their pools.

Calling politics a sport is like the 6th national sport.

OK guys, I'm out for the night. Hopefully this will all be somewhat resolved by the time I get up in the morning.

Night y'all.

The GA county I live in had almost every R running uncontested from Coroner to Congressman. I did lots of writing in this morning.

Obama took CT! And that's a wealthy state. Nice.

TheManofPA: robsul82: Murphy leading Linda McMahon by 79 points! W00t. lol

She's just playing the "face in peril". Give it til 78 percent of the vote. She'll shrug it off, hit her 5 moves of rhetoric and no-sell this election

Oh good, we can get back to the PG13 era of wrestling and BLOOD
2012-11-06 08:22:33 PM

serpent_sky: MSNBC just flashed Todd Akin in the lead in his Senate race. How the hell is that even remotely possible?

People in podunt have less votes to count than KC and STL. Akin doesn't stand a chance.

Remember people, it was expected Obama would have headstart in the OH votes. Let's stay cautious.

I_C_Weener: So, is Jill Stein still in this thing?

She needs 3% nationally to qualify for the free cookware and discount auto repair.
2012-11-06 08:22:53 PM

robsul82: CNN kicks it back down to 53% reporting and Obama leading by 46K...?

I distinctly remember something like that happening during the iran elections when a "Votes counted" number on the TV screen went down and the opposition guy lost his lead, then all of us screamed vote tampering.
2012-11-06 08:22:53 PM
The HuffPo graph to the Magic 270 in the middle looked like Rmoney was getting closer to that middle than Obama was. Then I noticed that a big chunk of that represents the state of California's EC votes.

Yeah HA HA! Good luck getting winning California, Moneybags!
2012-11-06 08:22:54 PM

Mistymtnhop: I'd like to just go to sleep and wake up with the President still the president. Right now, my girls are arguing on where we'd move to if Romney wins this. The oldest has chosen Japan, the middle child, Canada and the youngest (age 9) favors Great Britain.

Well you're in luck.
2012-11-06 08:22:54 PM
I think CNN just had a huge clerical mistake with their FL results. The vote totals on their online map for Leon county are completely exactly reversed from how they are on Leon County's website.
2012-11-06 08:23:01 PM
McMahon only 10% so far.

maybe when she loses we can get the attitude era back.
2012-11-06 08:23:01 PM

msnbc for vote geeks, younger, more liberal

nbc for plasterbrain righties and your mom.

FL: Romney +9067, 50% reporting (CNN)

2012-11-06 08:23:33 PM

WizardofToast: Yeah I'm figured Florida is in the bag for Romney and Ohio is in for Obama.

So the waiting continues.

I guess this means I need to put on another pot of coffee.

/Mmm... Coffee.
