(JSOnline)   Yeah, maybe we should have considered taking down the huge Obama banner right above that voting location entrance   (jsonline.com) divider line 27

Major fail.

That's because the building, now known as the Milwaukee Campus for Trades, Technology and Media, houses two schools. One is the School of Career and Technical Education. The other, formerly known as Thirty-Fifth Street School, was renamed Barack Obama K-8 School in April 2011.

Seems like it's just the name of the school. My voting place was plastered with Romney and Obama signs everywhere anyway, can't see how another would make much difference.

You can have candidate signs outside of the building (has to be x feet from the entrance, can't remember exactly how far), but the polling site should be devoid of anything that could influence candidates.

I guess they could have scribbled over the name of the school with a magic marker.

So Republicans are objecting to the name of the farking school being displayed because it's named after the President?

ih3.redbubble.net

/campaign signs are one thing
//a building name is something else entirely

If someone is going to vote and at the last second see a sign with Obama's name on it, then change their vote due to that, they're freakin idiots.

"Excuse me, where do I go to vote?"
"At the school."
"Which school?"
"I'm sorry, I can't say the name."

It's the north side of Milwaukee; if Romney gets double digits he should jump for joy.

That's interesting. I don't think I saw a single campaign sign when I turned my ballot in yesterday despite it being the only place to turn in ballots early and me being in a swing state.

In fact, it's kind of weird. I haven't seen many signs around town and very few bumper stickers. Almost all of the bumper stickers I have seen were for Obama though with one exception...some guy had huge Romney stickers all over his vehicle. I've only seen one yard sign and that said "Fire Obama". The other campaign signs I've seen have been to re-open medical marijuana dispensaries.

No they shouldn't have. It's the name of the school, it was named this back in April, and the only way it woud be illegal is if it were done specifically to influence the election. Besides, the Gov't dude in the article made a great point: "...People who would be bothered by it won't be voting for Obama anyway.".

Yeah, I think it's on the shoulders of whoever decided to make it a polling location.

I guess I wasn't that far off when I joked about it being like duct tape over the eyes.....which is kind of sad really.

The banner that has the school's name on it?

2012-11-07 05:10:09 PM
So there are people that show up to vote and haven't decided who to vote for yet ???

A picture on the way in can influence them that much !!!!

Why spend all that money on commercials ... they obviously are not as influential as a mural on the wall. Maybe just put up posters at all polling sites and use the $$$ to create jobs !!!
