In an update, Mitt Romney now claims that giving all Chrysler employees Election Day off was originally his idea.

That sound you heard was Romney getting run over by a Ram dually with a lift kit and fog horns.

ThatGuyFromTheInternet: Why is this only Chrysler workers?

Because they can't give days off to people that don't work for them?

Did he look at the top of the map? It was there this morning.

We have vote-by-mail in Oregon. It's only fair that we get two weeks off.

I heard Koch Bros. is not only giving their employees the day off to vote but also giving them rides to their polling places and help filling out their ballots. Suck on that Chrysler.

His alternative was Lies With Goats, so he went with the best option he had.

killershark: KwameKilstrawberry: Pretty sure all UAW employees are off today, as it has been the tradition for years. My drive to the House of GM was remarkably smooth this morning and Lot C is empty.

The UAW negotiated it probably more than a decade ago and it actually covers all employees of the Big Three in Michigan, not just UAW members. Kos makes it sound like it was just something they did this year to get the vote out against Romney -- that's not the case.

Wasn't sure exactly when it began. As a native Detroiter, I've had little exposure to the auto industry, but I know when I was working briefly for a Canadian-owned auto supplier some 10 years ago, Election Day was Fark Off at the Office Day.

And yeah, why isn't voting day a holiday. Or why don't they have polling places at work?
