Just yesterday a Hispanic man on my block was frantically loading the back of his truck up with the neighborhood's possessions, food, clothes, water, basically everything he could grab.

(He was taking the stuff to Staten Island for the people that were screwed over by Sandy)

And I found it particularly moving today at my polling place how diverse (racially and economically) the polling place was. There was a disinterested black teenager directing people which line to get in. A big white guy directing me to the right booth. A black Muslim woman in a head scarf with the voter rolls and a farking Sesame Street rainbow of people in line. Everyone was pleasant and polite. Holding doors and helping the elderly find seats if they needed to rest.

I actually had a little moment where I choked up upon leaving. It must be exhausting to live in such constant fear.

IF YOU LIVE NEAR THIS EVENT:

I beg of you, do one of three things- rush out and buy some helium balloons, make a 'Free Hugs' sign, or grab a puppy from your local shelter and bring it down to this guy. Fox will have a camera on him all day- what would be hilarious is if he's handing out balloons, hugs, and kitty pets to voters coming and going, as a demonstration of how intimidating he is.

Timmy spent the night in the abandon Marcus mansion!  They say it's haunted!

*mouths open in awe*

Oh yeah, Billy went to a local school and walked right by a black man in a beret to cast his ballot!

*jaws drop to the floor*

My polling place has black men and women with billy clubs in quasi-military garb at the front door too.

They are police officers.

karnal: Hey everyone - Meet Minister King Samir Shabazz ....he is chairman of the New Black Panther Party's Philadelphia chapter

racist hate speech

THIS IS RELEVANT!!!!!!

You should be real proud of standing up for a racist, hate mongering militant.

Not 'standing up' for him. Just pointing out that your post/link were completely irrelevant to anything related to TFA or the election.

But hey, keep on telling us how scary black people are intimidating decent white folks from voting for the Republican.

Lurking Fear: Look what an asshole you are.
Not from philly, could care less. Now be a good douche bag and eat a bowl of dicks.

Someone's an asshole because they pointed out that your bad joke is bad?

hdhale: Fact is if they were white and dressed exactly the same, the media and eventually the cops will be all over the scene.

Your paranoid delusions are facts now? Interesting...

This is why I'm glad I live in New Jersey. I walk in, there's never any lines at all because we have plenty of places to vote for everyone, tell them my name, sign a paper, then vote. 2 minutes tops, no one hanging out, bothering anyone, two forms of ID, or anything.

What the hell is wrong with you people?

How many times did you get to vote? Sure hope you took advantage of the no ID.

I have never, ever had to show ID to vote. I have been checked off on a list and had my signature compared to the one on file. Seems to me it would be difficult for me to vote twice, since I'm only on the roles once.

karnal: What state are you in?

Virginia, Fairfax County, Precinct 843.

To be clear, these volunteers were more than 40 feet from the entrance, toward the back of a half-hour line, and were not in violation of any law pertaining to electioneering at a polling site.

So the only thing that stops you from committing electoral fraud is the need to show ID? What an interesting insight into your complete lack of ethics and respect for the rule of law.

These were two volunteers handing out sample ballots. The Republican was whining about "liberal Democrat lawyers." The Democratic volunteer explained that the VSB had lawyers there to insure that the laws were being applied correctly by the polling staff. The Republican wasn't having any of it. Sorry that you choose to disbelieve it.

I will give the Republicans credit on their sample ballot because they actually bothered to include the five ballot measures, which the Democrats did not.

"They say they are merely monitoring the election process but some say it looks like intimidation, like in 2008."

2 things just that sentence. Fox' ever-present "some people are saying" BS and "2008 intimidation". "Some say"" = We Say. And no charges were filed on the dumbasses in 2008 because they left when they were asked to.

But this stunt is just mind-boggling stupid. Fox & Friends was playing the 2008 clip as recently as July 2012. Why the FARK would you open yourself up to ANOTHER 4+ years of criticism? Just go the fark home and let the professionals handle the election process, asshole.

I mean, a black guy wearing a beret? Are we sure it wasn't Samuel Jackson?

ilikeracecars: OK, I know nothing good ever comes from starting a sentence I'm not racist but...
If that was a white guy wearing the same exact thing, I'd feel a little bit intimidated. OK, I'd feel more intimidated actually, since the white guys that dress like that are militia idiots.

There were people in Arizona carrying guns and standing outside polling places a couple elections ago. People actually reported being intimidated as compared to 2008 in Philly when not one person complained other than Fox News and a college republican with a camera that wasn't voting.
