karnal: You're just making shiat up now.

These were two volunteers handing out sample ballots. The Republican was whining about "liberal Democrat lawyers." The Democratic volunteer explained that the VSB had lawyers there to insure that the laws were being applied correctly by the polling staff. The Republican wasn't having any of it. Sorry that you choose to disbelieve it.

I will give the Republicans credit on their sample ballot because they actually bothered to include the five ballot measures, which the Democrats did not.

What the hell is wrong with you people?

Yea but swimming to your polling location is a pain.

So the only thing that stops you from committing electoral fraud is the need to show ID? What an interesting insight into your complete lack of ethics and respect for the rule of law.

Virginia, Fairfax County, Precinct 843.

To be clear, these volunteers were more than 40 feet from the entrance, toward the back of a half-hour line, and were not in violation of any law pertaining to electioneering at a polling site.

I wouldn't be happy having to walk past an American serviceman to cast my vote, much less some guy who's signed up to battle for his personal cause, whatever it might be.

In my previous polling places, there were shiat tons of people still canvassing outside of the location, as well as signs, and all kinds of crap from both sides. I couldn't tell you if there were volunteers there to make sure of anything. I just ignored everyone outside and go in the place to vote.

What constitutes "patrolling"? Is it anything like the annoying Republican volunteer I saw this morning loudly trying to pick a fight with the Democratic volunteer over the presence of non-partisan poll watchers from the Virginia State Bar? Because he bothered me a lot more than a couple of dudes loitering and minding their own business.

Hehehe, the Republican "paperhander outer" at MY polling place was ALSO hassling the "I can explain the ID law" lady!

I have never, ever had to show ID to vote. I have been checked off on a list and had my signature compared to the one on file. Seems to me it would be difficult for me to vote twice, since I'm only on the roles once.

Beret's should have badges on it because it looks badass. I've got a rifle badge on a red beret I had when I was on the rifle team of my JROTC.

IF YOU LIVE NEAR THIS EVENT:

I beg of you, do one of three things- rush out and buy some helium balloons, make a 'Free Hugs' sign, or grab a puppy from your local shelter and bring it down to this guy. Fox will have a camera on him all day- what would be hilarious is if he's handing out balloons, hugs, and kitty pets to voters coming and going, as a demonstration of how intimidating he is.

2012-11-06 10:27:08 AM
I wish I lived near there. I'm about as pasty white as it gets. I'd love to be live on Fox News as I walked up to the guy, asked him if this is where we vote and then walk right in.

2012-11-06 10:27:37 AM
There was a black guy between me and my wife in line this morning. OMG INTIMIDATION!

/Seemed like a nice guy, was pushing the water fountain lever and entertaining my 18-month-old daughter. We both remarked that this was the biggest turnout we'd seen at that polling place. Line was out the door.

2012-11-06 10:27:53 AM
It's interesting that everyone is having such a hard time with voting. When I voted, the only inconvenience was that the line took about 30 minutes to get through. There were a few people with signs at the polling place, including one candidate's wife (I voted for her husband) and some firefighters holding the American flag (we had a ballot measure on unifying the volunteer and professional firefighters under one fire chief), but it was very congenial.

Having the courage to walk past a person makes one an ITG now? Holy shiat! I must have walked past dozens of people this morning. Some of them were even black! I must have the biggest set of brass balls in the world!

2012-11-06 10:30:56 AM
And I found it particularly moving today at my polling place how diverse (racially and economically) the polling place was. There was a disinterested black teenager directing people which line to get in. A big white guy directing me to the right booth. A black Muslim woman in a head scarf with the voter rolls and a farking Sesame Street rainbow of people in line. Everyone was pleasant and polite. Holding doors and helping the elderly find seats if they needed to rest.

I actually had a little moment where I choked up upon leaving. It must be exhausting to live in such constant fear.

Oh damn, you're right. He said "American serviceman" and not someone in paramilitary uniform, I confused my Farkers. I guess that makes the "internet" part of ITG disappear and it might also make me a racist. Also whoever was said to be a candy ass is definitely a candy ass now, in real life away from the internets. And he shouldn't vote.

Fact is if they were white and dressed exactly the same, the media and eventually the cops will be all over the scene. Want to impress me? Show up dressed like you aren't there for the Halloween party dressed as a hipster SWAT officer.
