Geotpf: Let's hope it doesn't come down to Florida. Nate's current projection on who will win Florida-exactly 50-50.

Ohio, Virginia, or Florida. Obama only needs one.

robsul82: GoldSpider: PA is still a fairly safe Obama state, so I'll probably make a statement vote for Johnson.

/huh huh "johnson".

Ehhhhhhh, just to be safe, vote Obama. Pretty please.

Another bad sign for Obama, Johnson is going to end up being this election's nader. Lot's of youth that were caught up in the Obama hysteria of 08 are going to stay home, or vote Libertarian..

It's all going to start unraveling after 7 eastern.

12349876: Carth: 12349876: DamnYankees: NeverDrunk23: DamnYankees: GardenWeasel: CNN exit polls coming up

I believe any exit poll released before 5 PM is bullshiat. They aren't allowed to release them before then (either by law or contract, I forget).

Probably the safest bet is to take any results before 8:30 with a grain of salt.

Well, we get real results starting at 7 when the polls close in NH, NC and VA.

North Carolina is 7:30, New Hampshire is 8. There should be some Florida results coming in too though not all polls close until 8.

Ohio closes at 730 too right?

Yep. Here's a list of all the states closing times.

Link

awesome it even adjusts for EST.

thanks

/damn dust
//remember the video @ Grant Park when CNN called it
///epic, it was

Admittedly, it was VERY dusty when I saw Obama declared the winner in '08. Mmhmm.

Yeah, it was amazing to see how far we've come as a county. Then the derpstorm backlash came and it was amazing to see how far we still have to go.

I remember listening to Jim Ladd on the radio when Obama won. I never heard somebody so utterly thrilled. The guy was seriously elated that Obama pulled it out.

Sadly, I won't get to hear his take on the election this time around. Cumulus fired him as a cost-cutting measure when they bought out KLOS. Which is a terrible thing to do to someone who's been a Los Angeles radio god just short of forever. I hear he has a show on Sirius XM now, but I don't have that, so...

DamnYankees: jasimo: I was just thinking....

Seeing all these pictures of long lines at polling places, and considering the open way in which some states -- I'm looking at YOU FL and OH -- have openly worked to make voting more difficult, I'm thinking that it may well have the opposite of its intended vote-squashing effect.

If I lived in a state where I knew the ruling party was actively working to discourage voting by causing long lines and constricting early voting, I would wait in line as long as needed to vote, regardless of how long it took.

Not only might it backfire in that way, but they're certainly alienating the vast majority of the country -- including just about everyone here -- who thinks that voting should be easy and EVERY vote should count.

Is there a rule about what happens if you're in line to vote when the polls close? Do they let you vote or do they shut you out?

I think all states allow everyone in line at closing time to vote. Damn sure SHOULD be the case at any rate.
/disenfranchisement/voter suppression makes me stabby

Crackers Are a Family Food: Weaver95: ShawnDoc: Weaver95: it's freaking WEIRD tho. we're pushing the vote hard core and have been all week, but most especially today of all days. And the GOP just...isn't there. like...at all. total ghost town. or full out retreat, if that suits you better.

I figured the Republicans would have put forth at least a token effort.

Aren't there at least some local/state races that they'd be trying to influence, even if they've given up on Romney?

we haven't seen the GOP out there AT ALL, not in central Pa.

That's because they're all out here visiting their diehard fans in suburban Philly. I haven't seen one Obama sign here. Chester County seems to be the Republican stronghold of Pennsylvania.

Yeah, it's where all the white people from Philly moved too. LoL

I think both sides can agree that we don't want Florida to decide again.

And the fact that they are still having problems with their voting equipment is infuriating to me. I know Florida is America's dick, but can't they stop acting like dicks just long enough to fix the problems with their polling stations?

Yes, "progressive" policies. Like being able to label people as "security threats" and detain them indefinitely. Getting felt-up by a high-school dropout at the airport before I can get on the plane is another "progressive" policy as well. Maybe we can have third-party candidates arrested for protesting being excluded from debates as well. You know. For "progress".

I'm not even going to debate any of that.

I just want to know where your army is. A few million people saying they're going to vote for Gary Johnson isn't going to cut it.

No shiat. Maybe if guys like you stopped saying "HURR, YER THROWIN' AWAY YER VOTE THERE, CLEETUS" whenever we actually speak our minds on a ballot, we wouldn't have to choose between two mediocre candidates every four years.

The hubris in your post is just too amusing.
