Nadie_AZ: inner ted: halo is halo - awesome, but getting pwned by 10 year olds with squeaky voices and a list of curse words longer than you can imagine can get old.

I've only played online with others twice. I liked the storyline in CE. I've yet to see it repeated since. But I may check out Halo 4. We'll see. I'm not hearing good things about AC3.

the story in CE was one of the most memorable gaming experiences i've had. the others were forgettable - but by then, they were more focused on the multiplayer / online aspect i think.

/played online quite a bit with halo 3 & reach
//got destroyed quite a bit with halo 3 & reach

Signs you've lost the culture war.

a) Black President wins re-election, thanks largely to votes of minorities and women.

b) Senate stays Democratic largely because of pushback against candidates voicing paleolithic anti-choice opinions (in red states).

c) Colorado and Washington legalize marijuana.

d) Maine, Maryland and Washington vote for favor of marriage equality propositions.

Dey dun tooked ur country.

Clearly the Republicans need to run a MORE CONSERVATIVE candidate in 2016.

Just woke up. I work third shift so I needed some sleep. Got about 3 hours. It's going to be a long night, but I just don't see how I could get much more sleep at this point.

Going to vote around 5:30pm. I live in DC on a Seminary campus and we're having a 'let's not all hate each other after the election' service at 5:00pm. Sadly we aren't representative of the country, and I wager a lot of people will be full of hate and vitriol after things wrap up tonight.

I would expect Romney won't conceded early as it makes him look less legitimate (and by extension the entire party) so it will drag on, and on, and on...

Hopefully I'll get to see the final call later tonight with some of my students.

Heh - sounds like you eavesdropped on my conversation with my dad.

He asked me why the hell would I vote for Obama again? I'm all - uh Dad...do you not get how the GOP views me? I'm a 40 something divorced middle-aged woman and who had a college education and makes a good living: I have no place in GOP America. When the GOP can convince me that their version of smaller government doesn't mean one that will fit in my uterus, I'll give them some consideration.

I am very angry with the GOP for hijacking my once very cool dad and replacing him with a replicant.

There are not 2 choices for president. There are 6 candidates. Vote for which best represents you and your beliefs, not who you are told will or should win.

(As a former Obama voter, may I direct my fellow disillusioned Democrats toward Ross Anderson of the Justice party...)

hmm, not in NC there isn't. We had two choices.

I'm in North Carolina, and I had more than two choices on my ballot for President. I don't remember seeing Ross Anderson's name, but I did see Gary Johnson and Jill Stein as options.

Odd, I'm in NC as well, but I only saw Gary Johnson as an alternative to obama/romney. Would've definitely considered voting for Jill Stein if she had been on my ballot. Maybe it's a county by county thing?

You want to know the "cop-out"? It is everyone who equates "both sides are undesirable" or "I don't match up well with either party" with "both sides are the exactly the same". That part particularly smacked my gob. Is he not aware the high marks Obama and the federal government received on their response to Sandy? High marks given by the American people at large, and people not exactly friendly to Obama such as Chris Christie. To claim Obama and FEMA failed in their response is to completely ignore reality in favor of political rage. The woman interviewing him just kinda stood there, not sure how to respond. I wonder if she thought about bringing up counterpoints and just decided, "fark it", but knowing CNN, it's not their business to challenge talking points.

He was on MSNBC earlier saying FEMA's lack of response to Sandy was the most important issue. And yes, he brought up 9/11. Tried to post this earlier from my phone but apparently it didn't take.

California transplanted in Texas. Voted last Saturday and it was a piece of cake. I think I am the only white male in south Texas who voted for Obama.

I do have to say that I get some small joy trolling some knuckle dragger down here whose vote is canceled out by my own.

The Fox News guys are really going hard right now with the "thousands is incidents" of voting problems, all of which have to do with fraud and electioneering benefiting Obama. They even got a photo of the New Black Panther guy in Philly. I mean, he is standing by himself out in front of some building. What with his beret and all, he is quite menacing! Oddly, though, no mention of the non-imaginary, very real ACTUAL voter suppression that has been the goal of the GOP this entire election cycle. See also the Ohio voting machines thread from last evening. Fox still hasn't heard about that...

I will be glad when this is over.

xenophon10k: Anarchangel: Hey look, a voting machine turning an Obama vote into a Romney vote. Confirmed by NBC News.

But yeah, your vote totally means something.

Oh, FFS. It was a poorly calibrated touchscreen. It didn't change the vote. It wasn't like Obama was actually selected on screen, and then the machine flipped it to Romney. They tapped Obama, and it selected Romney. If they had tapped the button for Jill Stein, Obama would have been selected.

So, yes it should be taken out of service, but let's not attribute to malice that which can be adequately be explained by a poll worker messing up the settings. Hell, I'm amazed the damn things work at all, given the average technical expertise on display at most polling places.

Seriously - when is the last time you have had to calibrate a touchscreen? When we were using them in medical environments in 2000 we didn't need to calibrate them - you ran them at their normal resolution and they "just worked." The last touchscreen I've actually had to calibrate was back in the late 90's, and that was on a windows CE phone.

And based on his troubleshooting "miscalibration" doesn't seem to be correct. If it was, when he pressed on the Jill Stein button, it should have registered for Obama (screen miscalibrated on the Y axis). In his case he had to go push a nonsensical area of the screen to get it to work for Obama, while all other buttons worked correctly. That doesn't sound like a miscalibration to me - does it sound like one to you? When you have a cartesian plane defined in software (calibrated), you don't suddenly lose a section of it and place it somewhere else on the plane - the whole plane shifts.

And don't understand how a Democracy works.

I find a lot of third party people don't really understand how democracy works. They think because lots of people need to compromise on a candidate it means it's a failure, where that is actually the goal of a democracy.

It's not to come up with the candidate YOU like the best. It's to get a candidate that a majority (or plurality I know some pedantic fark will flip out if I don't say that) can settle with.

If you don't like that then you don't like democracy.
