This is my first time voting in Maryland. I am not use to having to wait in a line to vote. I'm from Philly and there are hundreds of voting places, so you are basically in and out.

I can see why some people are discouraged to vote, but this is important.

//Maryland needs more voting places

Or, if you had read the article.

"I first thought the calibration was off and tried selecting Jill Stein to actually highlight Obama. Nope. Jill Stein was selected just fine."

The problem is that the "hot" area for Romney is way too big and Obama's is just a small sliver.

I'm just gonna leave this one alone and move on.

So. At the gym, they had on FOX, and they were predicting a 315 EV "landslide" for Romney. Will they still call it a landslide if Obama wins by 315 or more?

In 04 Zogby exit polls (as shown all day on Drudge) had John Kerry pretty much across the board but then whoops they were all wrong.

Why do you even need touch screen for voting. The machine I use has a scroll wheel and you just spin it around until it highlights what you want and you hit an "enter" button.

xenophon10k: Anarchangel: Hey look, a voting machine turning an Obama vote into a Romney vote. Confirmed by NBC News.

But yeah, your vote totally means something.

Oh, FFS. It was a poorly calibrated touchscreen. It didn't change the vote. It wasn't like Obama was actually selected on screen, and then the machine flipped it to Romney. They tapped Obama, and it selected Romney. If they had tapped the button for Jill Stein, Obama would have been selected.

So, yes it should be taken out of service, but let's not attribute to malice that which can be adequately be explained by a poll worker messing up the settings. Hell, I'm amazed the damn things work at all, given the average technical expertise on display at most polling places.

No, that's what I thought at first, too. All the other button areas were working correctly. It was not a calibration issue. Read the article:

inner ted: Fark Griswald: FinFangFark: Tor_Eckman: In case anyone cares, Halo 4 is quite good so far.

I hate you...I have it sitting at my gaming desk at home...ready to go.

I haven't played Halo since Halo 2

I've never played Mass Effect.

Do you recommend Halo 4 or Mass Effect Trilogy?

Discuss

i just played Mass Effect for the first time- it's freaking great - though the main plot line is kinda short - i completed it & didn't realize the game just ended (was hoping to be able to still bump around and do misc. tasks - but no... unless i'm missing something)

will probably play through again & from what i understand, you get to progress the same character into Mass Effect 2 & 3 - which is super cool.

halo is halo - awesome, but getting pwned by 10 year olds with squeaky voices and a list of curse words longer than you can imagine can get old.

/on topic - haven't voted yet
//booga booga booga

Mass Effect isn't really short per se... and it's very obvious you've reached the end when you have. If there wasn't any "closure" involving the Council and the Citadel, you might have missed something.

I had pretty much written off Florida as it seemed stuck on Romney +2, Romney +3. If Obama can swipe those 29 EVs anyway, Romney's toast.

Yes, it actually happened, back in June, 2011, hence my desire to relentlessly mock Gary Johnson supporters. Ditto Ron Paul, who took part in a similar farce on Stossel's show.

I've been lurking here since just before the 2008 election, and I've been here pretty much every night until 3:00AM since the GOP primaries. You've kept me sane. I finally decided to join but it took a while because of the verbal beatdown I feared I might get, but now I think I can take it. I just wanted to say that I was here, when the walls fell. I'll post something more useless later, I've got way to much crow to prepare right now.

I believe the networks have agreed to sit on the exit polling numbers until 5pm ET, due to accuracy concerns since they farked it up in 2004 and had people thinking Kerry was going to win. Any exit poll figures you hear before then should be taken with a big grain of salt.

Actually, the Obama button was the only one that "wasn't calibrated", so it wasn't a calibration issue. Touching Jill Stein voted for Jill Stein. I doubt whatever the problem was, was intentional though.

I had to go out of the country.... and chose BBC and Reuters. Sad, really.
