Obama is gonna play "Coachman, Spare Your Horses" on the lute of Romney's entrails. Delicious.

Anarchangel: Hey look, a voting machine turning an Obama vote into a Romney vote. Confirmed by NBC News.

But yeah, your vote totally means something.

Paper ballots here in Nebraska, which is 100% forecasted for Romney.

So you're right about what my vote means.

Here is my proof of voting:

November 6, 2012 General Election

Your ballot was received on November 1, 2012.

Please Vote today, and please don't enable any disenfranchisement, voter interference or any other activity that stops voting of ANYONE. Agree with them or not, in America we must allow the vote to be clear of any perception of stealing, tampering or fraud. Vote stealing, rigging any thing disrupting someones ability to vote is treason.

My voting story.

2008 - Waited 1:45 to vote. School was hosting 4 precincts and my area of town has the largest subdivisions, most with 1/4 acre lots. Plenty of people.
2010 - Broke up the precincts some & moved mine plus one other to a different polling place. 1 minute wait & I saved America by zip-typing the flag to a post. Kept falling over.

2012 - Waited 1 hour, same place as 2010. I don't understand why, but the other precinct hosted there never has a line. Maybe 1 voter for every 50 in mine.

KY elections don't match up with national or local votes every time. So this political crap never really ends here. There's always yard signs out for something & a few crappy commercials. Farking governor, mayor, or dogcatcher election probably coming soon.

Small ballot this year. One cool KY Constitutional amendment to vote on. Trying to make it a right that hunting and fishing be used for conservation and wildlife management. I dig that even though I don't hunt & haven't fished in years.

When I vote for local politicos If i am unsure, I choose the candidate by gender and or race.

So Susan Thangangalong

would win over Chester Covington III

and I don't vote for lawyers.

Huggermugger: Amen to that. I also wish that people would pay more attention to state and local politics. Very few people I've asked know the names of their state senator, state representative, much less their mayor or county executive. Hell, lots of them can't recall the Governor's name, or their Senators'.

Too true. I'm embarrassed to say this, but my state representative showed up at our front door last weekend and I couldn't remember whether I had voted for him or his opponent.

RminusQ: As bad as political reporting is, at least it's not as totally bankrupt as business news reporting:

Stocks climbed on Tuesday on speculation the presidential election will produce a clear winner, removing a major source of uncertainty that has dogged investors. - Reuters

Note that there's basically no way anyone can be more sure now that the day has started than they were yesterday that there is not going to be a recount in any decisive state or some other nailbiter situation. The ONLY way Wall Street can be sure there will be a "clear winner" is if they think it's clear that Obama is winning. And they can't bear to say "The stock market is up on news that Obama is near certain to win re-election" so they ridiculously hedge it.

It's easier than simply repeating "The stock market changed due to random variance" pretty much every day

Fark Griswald: FinFangFark: Tor_Eckman: In case anyone cares, Halo 4 is quite good so far.

I hate you...I have it sitting at my gaming desk at home...ready to go.

I haven't played Halo since Halo 2

I've never played Mass Effect.

Do you recommend Halo 4 or Mass Effect Trilogy?

Discuss

i just played Mass Effect for the first time- it's freaking great - though the main plot line is kinda short - i completed it & didn't realize the game just ended (was hoping to be able to still bump around and do misc. tasks - but no... unless i'm missing something)

will probably play through again & from what i understand, you get to progress the same character into Mass Effect 2 & 3 - which is super cool.

halo is halo - awesome, but getting pwned by 10 year olds with squeaky voices and a list of curse words longer than you can imagine can get old.

/on topic - haven't voted yet

skullkrusher: imontheinternet: "Both sides are bad, so I'm not supporting either" is a cop-out, and many people choose it because they think it makes them look edgy and above it all. There are clearly-defined differences between the two candidates on a wide range of issues. The next term could see as many as three appointments to the Supreme Court, FFS. Stow the edgy teenager crap for one day, and do the right thing.

it's not a cop-out. It's an objectively untrue statement of opinion.

What is "do the right thing?"

ftfy

Doing the right thing is pulling your head out of the sand, looking at the differences between the candidates, which are real and easy to find, and then making a decision based on which candidate shares your views. Waiving off the candidates by saying, "they're all the same and corrupt anyway" is a cop-out. Full stop.

Voted on my lunch break. Took exactly 90 minutes.

Problem 1: Ballot Measures -- Florida had 11. Plus a few "questions."

Problem 2: One scanner machine. And some old dude filled in ballot wrong. Made a big fuss and worsened the situation.

This is the busiest I've seen it here.

Basically, it shows the breakdown of every VA county and what % of the vote Obama would need in each one in order to take the state. Obviously its an estimate, but you can compare the VA counties as they come in with this spreadsheet to see whether Obama is on target to take the state. And considering VA closes at 7 PM, there shouldn't be too much competition for our attention.

Waited less then 10 minutes. I was helping my father, who has a giant HALO device on his foot to immobilize it post-surgery, but he got in okay. Total time for my brother, myself and dad: 12 minutes.

Then I spent 15 minutes playing with my niece, who happened to come in with my half brother, her dad. She was all dolled up in red-white-and-blue. THey're adorable at 6.

The local news did a story about a guy out in the sticks of Massachusetts who had a big sign in his yard to the effect of "IT'S YOUR DUTY TO VOTE, DON'T RE-NIG". Tried to blame it on the sign maker, but his "McCain/Palin" hat didn't do him any favors.

Yeah, I was of two minds on that one. Strongly support the basic intent, not 100% on board with the idea of amending the bloody state constitution for it. Gave in and voted yes.

Just voted.

Apparently there's this thing going around on Facebook now saying if you select the "All Democrats" button before voting for Obama, the Obama vote gets tossed, but if you do it afterward, it's counted.

I don't know what neck of the woods this originated in...but I feel I'm not breaking any laws by saying there was no such button. At all. AT ALL. AT. ALL.

Eh, of all the things to hold against him, I won't count silly things when there are far more substantive issues to knock him on.

I guess it stuck with me since it happened early in primary season, when Johnson was trying to win as a Republican.

His "convenient" decision to run as a Libertarian after getting nowhere in the GOP primaries is another thing about him that amuses me.
