There are not 2 choices for president. There are 6 candidates. Vote for which best represents you and your beliefs, not who you are told will or should win.

(As a former Obama voter, may I direct my fellow disillusioned Democrats toward Ross Anderson of the Justice party...)

hmm, not in NC there isn't. We had two choices.

I'm in North Carolina, and I had more than two choices on my ballot for President. I don't remember seeing Ross Anderson's name, but I did see Gary Johnson and Jill Stein as options.

You are correct. Sorry my mistake.

Barack Obama
Joe Biden
Democrat

Mitt Romney
Paul Ryan
Republican

Gary Johnson
James P. Gray
Libertarian

Both Sides Are The Same has never made sense.

It can make sense if its coming from someone that actually knows what they are talking about rather than just making broad statements. However, I disagree that the two parties are the EXACTLY the same though.

What I don't understand is why many people think "low information voters" are only within the Republican and Democratic parties.

WombatControl: badaboom: TV's Vinnie: I hope you republicans all had your bungholes waxed today. You're gonna be on all 4's by 10PM for sure.

I'm just curious how many liberals subscribe to this line of thinking. Given that the electorate is about 50/50 do you truly believe this about half your fellow Americans? Why so much hatred? Does anyone else here support what TV Vinnie thinks? Or is he an outlier?

Sadly, modern-day "liberals" talk about tolerance, they don't practice. Their idea of "tolerance" is more accurately termed "shutting the fark up and getting in line with the program."

Citation? What modern day liberal wants tolerance for hateful moronic Republicans?

Republicans hate women, minorities, gays and anyone else who isnt like them.

And then they expect tolerance? lol

NJ had more than six. Jeff Boss of the NSA Did 9/11 Party was a real highlight.

/must've been some nominating convention
//yes, I know there wasn't actually a convention

Are you serious?! That's messed up. Why not call it the "Fear and Loathing Party?" Jeez...

Yep. Obama, Mitt, Libertarian #1, Libertarian #2, Green Party, three other party names I can't remember, and the NSA Did 9/11 Party. NJ is very open about its ballots, lol.

I can't decide if that makes me sad or proud to be an American. Maybe a bit of both. I weep as I salute. Wow.

For those of you narrowed to two choices, well, that kind of sucks. Binary options applied to life never work out well in the long run. Eventually the disparities pile up to be insurmountable.

Raging Whore Moans: Although over on DailyKos they said they'll feel sorry for GOP voters in that polling place when Black people in the South no longer have to walk past statues of rebel soldiers on their way to vote, so y'know, grain of salt from evaporated neocon tears and all that.

that's a terrible comparison. There are actually laws against displaying signage for a candidate within 100 feet of a polling place. I'd imagine the law applies to inside the polling place itself. Statues of rebels soldiers don't mean dick unless those rebel soldiers are running for office

I didn't say they were exactly the same, either. However, if you look at what the corporations want they're 98% the same. That's why so much of the crazy SOCHULIZUM rhetoric was so stupid.

No, don't "pretend" to give a rat's ass. If you can't be bothered to educate yourself, then don't bother to vote. Some of us have paid attention and actually care about the outcome. If you can't be bothered to turn off Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and read something then you deserve whatever you get and I'd prefer you have no say in our government.

"Thier both like corporate and Wall Street and the electorate college is a scam anyway."

I don't think it is "edgy" to recognize that the two party system is more about big money than it is the natural result of candidate awesomeness

"Both sides are bad, so I'm not supporting either" is a cop-out, and many people choose it because they think it makes them look edgy and above it all. There are clearly-defined differences between the two candidates on a wide range of issues. The next term could see as many as three appointments to the Supreme Court, FFS. Stow the edgy teenager crap for one day, and do the right thing.

As bad as political reporting is, at least it's not as totally bankrupt as business news reporting:

Stocks climbed on Tuesday on speculation the presidential election will produce a clear winner, removing a major source of uncertainty that has dogged investors. - Reuters

Note that there's basically no way anyone can be more sure now that the day has started than they were yesterday that there is not going to be a recount in any decisive state or some other nailbiter situation. The ONLY way Wall Street can be sure there will be a "clear winner" is if they think it's clear that Obama is winning. And they can't bear to say "The stock market is up on news that Obama is near certain to win re-election" so they ridiculously hedge it.

This is an interesting link: Link

Basically, it shows the breakdown of every VA county and what % of the vote Obama would need in each one in order to take the state. Obviously its an estimate, but you can compare the VA counties as they come in with this spreadsheet to see whether Obama is on target to take the state. And considering VA closes at 7 PM, there shouldn't be too much competition for our attention.

To: RKBA Democrat; a fool in paradise; Slings and Arrows

Eye woted, as our friends the Austrians would say. In Austrian, of course. At the same time I remembered that I forgot to show up for jury duty yesterday. Dang me! At the polling place which was located inside a grammar school library, I was genuinely shocked to see female and unwhite people voting, has something changed recently? Roseanne Barr was on the presidential ballot, and I hope she wins IF, IF Romney loses, we'd all rather have a fat idiot lesbo there than a committed marxist, no? The ballot was four pages long, primitive method of voting this year by connecting lines using a borrowed pen, a whole load of propositions, state, county, city. I came unprepared this time, because last time, when I had prepared, the next day I couldn't remember how I voted for any of the propositions. And a note to those who are quick and angry to correct anyone saying the word "democracy" with the word "republic", as if there was a pure democracy anywhere in the world: what are these ballots with a dozen plus propositions if not pure democracy?! The half filled out four pages were at last inserted into a box with a sign that said "scanner", and had a LED counter on top. I asked the fellow who was stuffing my pages while sneaking looks at how I woted if the box instantly transmitted the results to somewhere out there. He only replied: "That lady over there!" In the meantime, a hot looking babe walked in dressed in a miniskirt. I saw her from the back. When she turned I saw that she was an old, old hag. Afterwards, before leaving, I picked up an oval sticker saying something in Chinese.
