Linux_Yes: Wyalt Derp: I've given this election a great deal of thought, and I'm afraid I simply can't vote for either candidate.

when you don't vote, you are saying 'yes' to someone else's plan. ---Rachel Maddow, MSNBC.

Err what? When you vote, you are saying yes to someone else's plan.

A vote for the lesser of two evils is a vote for evil.

Tigger: BeesNuts: GhostFish: BeesNuts: Elvis_Bogart: Just vote, damn you. I don't care who you vote for, just get off your ass and do it. At least pretend to give a rat's ass.

This morning's conversation with an "undecided coworker".

"You vote yet?"
"No. I just hate them both so much."
"Yeah, It's been tough to deal with this election season for sure."
"I mean, if you can't get gas prices down, why should I vote for you?"
"Well, .. gas prices are down. Nationwide."
"Oh yeah, how convenient."
"It is because of the giant storm that knocked out the North East. They aren't buying gas at the moment which is driving down national demand. Has nothing to do with the president, it was just a point of order."
"Well, if he cared so much about jobs why'd he pass that health care bill?"

-_-

I just turned around and got to work at that point.

Funny. At that point I think I would have turned to murder-suicide.

She is not a very intelligent person in general, and she makes an artform out of remaining uninformed. Talks over people when they try to explain things *related to her job* to her. Derails meetings with inane conversations about her husband. Gets her political news from Howard Stern.

You're typical American, basically.

Also, Murder Suicide would reflect poorly on my end of year performance review.

Indeed. Straight up murdering is the sort of entrepreneurial attitude we need.

"You've misrepresented my record, SIR. I don't kill JOBS. I kill EMPLOYEES. Thus decreasing the labor participation rate and lowering overall unemployment. It's simply the responsible thing to do in this economy."

This brings me to the point about Republicans: Why do they let some Australian control their political views? Murdoch owns Fox and he has more control over the political views of our country than our own damn president. How do God Fearing 'Muricans fall for this? They aren't real Americans is why, they're 'Muricans!

Because they're not smart enough to know when they're being used.

Fox News knows it's audience..they've done all the PSYOPS, profiling, and research to know how to say what their audience wants to hear. They are masters at not only bias confirmation but adding to it, They have mastered how to appeal to their viewers already predetermined prejudices by confirming what they already think they know and by presenting it as "news" to give it the extra added aroma of legitimacy. As an extra added kick, they have also convinced their viewers that everyone else is lying while creating this imaginary world that feels comfortable and provides refuge from harsh realities that they find upsetting.

Murdoch Inc. has found a way to use division to make a profit. He is not a US citizen, nor is his number two shareholder, the Saudi prince, so they have no loyalty to this country except to mine it for everything they can get, without consideration to the destructive effect it's having otherwise. When the US implodes, they have safe havens elsewhere.

Fox, like it's UK tabloid counterparts, appeals to sub-literates who lack critical thinking skills and are easily manipulated for profit. It's marketing genius but aggravating for those of us who live in the real world and not Foxistan.

Leeds: Dwight_Yeast: Leeds: I stand corrected by a previous comment- the statewide votes still count, it's the local elections where the liberal vote stamps out the other votes in Philly.

That's the dumbest farking thing I've heard today. Would you likewise say that Republicans in Texas "stamp out" the Democratic vote there?

Philly and its suburbs lean Democratic. We're also 20% of the state's population All those red areas on your map contain a very small percentage of population.

Are you retarded?

That's the best you've got?

2012-11-06 10:18:31 AM
Over the last few years I've begun to realize that what I once feared is becoming reality: I am turning into my father. He was a lifelong Republican, but a moderate who often disagreed with his party's stances, and more than once voted third-party.

I've never voted for a Republican for president, but today is an exception.

Why? Ever heard the saying "if you work in a hot dog factory you'll never eat one again?"

I work for the agency that implemented universal healthcare in MA under Romney, and although I've often said here that I support universal healthcare, I simply have too many reservations about the president's plan to fully support it.

I also do not think there is a ghost of a chance that Romney will get his wish and repeal it.

So that leaves the least undesirable option: put someone in who has solid real-world experience executing healthcare reform in a cost-effective manner. I can say authoritatively that this is in fact the case.

So, nose firmly held, I will be casting a vote tonight that will not matter one whit, since I live in the bluest of blue states, but one with which I will feel OK.

// This opinion is strictly mine and does not reflect the views of my employer, MassHealth.

Zogby is still releasing polls and they're getting more and more ridiculous: Ohio O +7.4, Virginia O +10.6. I don't think even Obama's most optimistic internal polling believes that.

I hope partisan and irresponsible polling firms are the big loser of tonight. They don't help anyone and just make the job of smart, reliable aggregators that much harder. And I don't care how "established" the name is. All internet polling firms should be ignored and mocked whenever possible in 2016.

Let me start with Obama is mah nubian. I don't vote, but if I had to Vote or Die, I'd vote for him. But can we stop pretending he is pro-stoner just because he admitted to getting high. nubian has been relentless with the federal raids. That being said, to get me through the conservaderp I have come up with a system. If they are allowed to believe that Obama is a secret Kenyan Muslim, then I get to pretend that he is Baracka Flocka Flames in real life. That being said, nobody deserves my vote until the legality of LSD is on the table.

Pathetic. I've never heard of anyone in Canada waiting more than an hour to vote and we have better turn-out than the US.

Apparently, a lot of suburban counties in the United States only have one or two polling locations, leading to long lines. Basically, they haven't increased their number of polling locations since they were farmland.

Here in the city, in Philadelphia, we vote by ward and have over a hundred polling locations. I've never had to walk more than two blocks to vote.

FTDA: coeyagi: evoke: I remember the polls favoring Kerry just before the election back in '04 as well. I voted for Bush that year - first time I was eligible to vote. In '08 I voted for McCain. So I am 1 out of 2 so far. Today I am voting for Romney and there is no doubt in my mind that he's going to win it.

Screenshotted. Thanks. Will repost later with snark.

No. Assholes analyze their votes in terms of whether they "picked right" or not and appear to have no idea what all those other names that show up on their ballots mean.

GhostFish: pciszek: Linux_Yes: i find it amusing that republicans seem to think that all they need to do is believe and it'll go their way. reminds me of religious zealots.

Redundant. Republicans are religious zealots. Oh, I'm sure there are some atheists who consider themselves Republican, but like the log cabain Republicans, they aren't actually welcome.

Being gay or atheist as a Republican is like being a theocrat or a white nationalist as a Democrat.

"We're gonna change things from the inside! One day, this party will see things our way."

farking delusional.

I'm not quite sure what you're getting at. I'm a Christian and a Republican, and I don't have any problems with gay people or atheists. I subscribe to the, "live how you want to live because it's YOUR life," point of view.

I was really happy with my better half this election cycle. His opinion on the race for prez is that it's the devil or the deep blue sea, but instead of saying 'nobody gets my vote, screw voting,' he was diligently looking up the propositions and other local stuff.

That's what everyone should be doing if the presidential race has you indifferent.

The commercials against 64 are ridiculous. What really ticks me off about the thing the most is, all the most vocal opponents of it (in my neighborhood at least) are ex flower children / hippies from the 60's and 70's who still regularly smoke pot and only vote against it because they don't want to pay taxes on their "meds".
