Strange, he showed so much more compassion for loved ones when he was electrocuting and strangling dogs.

I wouldn't even take Marcus Vick's advice on how to be a criminal, because he even sucks at that.

Darn, you beat me to it. However, I would have added that he was just trying to put his foot down to defend his brother.

Sweet, my first greenlight! I accidentally gave Marcus too much credit in the quote- it should be "see brother play."

Owners deluded enough: Jerry Jones, Al Davis, or Dan Snyder

On behalf of those fan bases, I hope Vick stays an Eagle for many, many seasons.

Or goes to another bird team after Falcons and Eagles. maybe Cardinals next?

Vick's O-line doesn't give him any protection, but he doesn't do himself any favors by holding the ball too long and not throwing it away.

From what I saw of that game last night, the three plays in a row he got sacked, he had a combined 2 secs to throw it away..

Yeah, I only watched the first half but if you want Vick to throw it away in a couple of seconds, off his back foot, you going to see picks and flags instead of fumbles and sacks but it's same result. He had no time at all last night, not that I care, screw him.

Are you including plays where he didn't account for the overload pressure the Saints were clearly showing, or plays where he ran himself back into where his tackles were clearing out the rushers in his drop? Not saying his line isn't awful, but with all the injuries, it's kind of incumbant to put them in a position to succeed.

Marcus Vick is one of the biggest scumbags I've seen in sports and frankly I'm surprised he isn't doing a long bid by this point.

Can we hijack this into a Fire Andy Reid thread?

And no, Nick Foles isn't the answer either.

Eagles - tank the rest of this season (and likely next year too), draft any of Alabama's offensive linemen you can get (Barrett Jones ideally), throw Foles to the wolves next year and pick up whoever the stud QB is in the 2014 draft.

A lot of people were at fault. Coaches, QB, everyone.

QB needs to see what the defense is doing and change the play and/or call the protection to protect himself. If the saints are rushing 7 guys and you only have 6 guys in to block....you're going to have a bad day.

The hits he was taking (IIRC) weren't because individual players were getting beat (Yes, they were at times), it was because saints defenders were getting getting free paths to the QB. It was poor play calling and missed assignments.

While this discussion was hashed already in the "Mike Vick is elite" thread, here is the relevant link: Only updated through Week 8

Philly is ranked 21 in pass protection, which is bad, but here are some teams worse than them:

29 - GB
30 - SF
31 - CHI

Now SF is #1 in run blocking and CHI is #13, but GB is also #29 there too. Philly is also actually worse in the run blocking rank at #26.

Eagles play-calling most of the night didn't account for it. I counted at least three times where Cameron Jordan simply slapped Herreman's hands away and ran around him. I haven't seen the Eagles line play so incapably since the 2010 playoff loss against Dallas, where Ware was doing the exact same thing to Jason Peters all night.

There are unblocked D ends teeing off on him. Unchecked on many occasions. You could say some of that could be Vick's fault for audibles and protection adjustments that he should be making, but what I saw last night was failure on an organizational level. Vick played well IMO, and most of his incompletions were blatant drops and chest hits, especially in the red zone.

Oh don't get me wrong, I think Vick sucks too, that whole effort between him and the O-line was a cluster.

I still enjoy mocking Eagles fans because they fired their DC when it's clear their offense is a bigger mess.

Vick's contract (for all intensive purposes) runs out after this season.

I would welcome the cutting of Mike Vick from the Eagles, thus I agree with Marcus Vick.

One of my coworkers at my first job out of college went to VA Tech and was there when Mike Vick was the QB. He said that one of the girls in his circle of friends claimed that she hooked up with Mike at a party one weekend. The next week when they were watching the game, they said to her "look, there's your boyfriend on the field" and she responded by saying that it wasn't Mike Vick at QB because Mike Vick was white.

I dont like Vick,

But in his defense that #77 on his "O-Line" was getting clowned ALL NIGHT LONG. Hes supposed to be a professional and it looked like he had never stepped onto the field before in his life. It was absolutely disgraceful.

Normally I am not able to pick up on the lines mistakes so often but there was a good full series where this guy had 2 penalties for holding and also allowed his block to go straight through to vick 3 seperate sacs. It was one of the most ugly things i have ever watched in football.

In my eyes it goes down as one of the single most pathetic single game performances by a lineman ever.

the Eagles/Cards trade (Kolb for DRC and Arizona's #2 in 2013) has to be one of the worst trades in the past decade.

it sealed Vick as Philly's QB (kolb missed a chunk of his last season in Philly) , but now Vick is on borrowed time. Kolb has done little for Arizona and quite likely could be a cap casualty in January 2013, which would mean -- given that he's played in only 15 games in two years and may not return for another 3-4 weeks -- ARizona will have given up a Pro Bowler (DRC, who is also underperforming for Philly) and a precious #2 pick for perhaps, ohhhhhhh, 19 games in two years.

I'm sure that Arizona wont' miss that pick next April. It isn't like there are needs all over the offense. and if in fact Kolb is a cap casualty, that will mean we will once again be looking for a QB.

Not sure how the nat'l media can defend him anymore. This year will be 4-straight without a playoff win.

For the past several years we've heard the national media say Philly fans are nuts for wanting Reid gone. He's had total control for many years and the team is falling apart around him.

Same thing with McNabb.. when he goes to DC and Minn, he sucks it up.

I remember the same thing with Kotite.. then he went to NY and was a joke.

The O Line is all hurt but the Eagles are a farking mess. Blow up everything. Get rid of Vick, trade McCoy to someone who deserves him, find a DC you can live with for more than 10 games in a row and LEAVE HIM THERE so he can get the defense in sync.

A couple of the plays where Vick was sacked in a second flat were because there were 6 rushers and 5 guys back to block. Well gee, maybe that's not going to work out very well.

Given the injuries, and the obvious difficulty the Eagles have with protection, why haven't they worked with Vick taking shorter drops? Rolling pockets so the opposition can't tee-off on his expected spot? It just seems to me if they rolled to his right on occassion, it'd make his throw harder, but the penetration would pass to his left, he'd be rotating away from it, and be presented with routes crossing into his view left to right, and potential running lanes if he wanted to. What success the Saints had was because they understood exactly what the Eagles were going to try to do and how they were going to do it. The Eagles knew almost immediately that this was the case, and it shouldn't have been surprising for them. Poor execution can be aided by a little unpredictability. See the Saints defense (although this is what people expected Spagnolo's system would be more like when he was hired).

On some level I have to credit the Saints defense for understanding their situation well enough to come up with some sort of game plan.

"Ok our coverage has no chance against these Eagles recievers, we're just going to quit on that pipe dream. I'm ambitious, but not foolish. So here's what were going to do, blitz into their tendancies, we're just going to sell out, a lot, you'll get home, but if you don't get your hands up. Keep practicing your flag drills and "dozen palms" tackling techniques, especially you DBs, we just have to contain enough of the 80 yard plays into more managable 40 yard gains, and Vick and the Eagles might just do the rest for us. God willing."

But I would be completely stunned to see them be quite so commited to it versus say the Falcons, Giants, or 9 ers.
