Finally, an upside to being a hideous, malformed beastman.

They also don't feel pain... and you thought honey badgers don't care...

I make a point of bringing up naked mole rats at work whenever possible or at least once a day.

/whichever is greater.

That's because they look like penises.

Pretty much. These guys have a very slow metabolism for mammals. Perhaps a bigger reason this rodent lives to be 2 decades. Most rodents live 1-3 years, most being done before they see a 2nd year. If I recall these guys have practically lost the ability to thermoregulate like most mammals. Not needed in those conditions.

Now I would be impressed with an animal like a squirrel having cancer resisting properties. They live around 7-15 years and have a cracked out metabolism.

This was already known about mole rats. They have additional cancer-preventing genes. This means that more of their genes have to be inactivated before a cell becomes cancerous. I read about this years ago.

CSB, from me. I had sexy time with a girl once.

First sharks, now mole rats.

Doubling the sample pool has got to make the research easier.

So ... Farkers don't get cancer, then?

There was an article in the Fark Geek tab maybe a year or two ago about why naked mole rats will become the next dominant species. It was a good article. Why don't one of you nerds look it up.

Naked mole rats (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naked_mole_rat) are not the same as the blind mole rats (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spalax) discussed in this study, but naked mole rats seem to share the anti-cancer super powers.

Naked mole rats are right wacky as a mammalian species because they have an queen-and-drones society reminiscent of social insects. Crazy inbreeding + matriarchy = no cancer?

As God is my witness, I have never seen a fuzzy penis with feet. TFA has a picture of a fuzzy penis with feet. Never seen that...
