Lukeonia1: O hai guise! What's happening in this thread?

Does anyone have any suggestions for where I can get my election news fix tomorrow evening while I'm at work? Difficulty: no TV, only FM radio, no streaming internet, and will be too busy for anything more than a brief refresh every now and then.

NPR should be over to the left of your FM dial.

Omahawg: with iowa's constitution I'm not sure it matters who they throw out. there's a reason little black and white kids went to school together here over 80 years before brown vs. the topeka board of education. that's our constitution, which is a real pain to change, and was written by some forward looking republicans who would now be all RINOS and democrats. so it goes.

Which, btw, was on the ballot in 2010 (do you support a constitutional convention?) which could have led to an amendment or otherwise altering the Iowa Constitution. The convention did not get the support to proceed. Apparently that talking point didnt get spread enough by the family values party.

Iowa is a progressive state, although the conservatives have surged since 2000, they are still in the minority. The marriage equality issue has been led by out of staters.

Lenny_da_Hog: Bathia_Mapes: Lenny_da_Hog: Bathia_Mapes: Wow. Hope they were able to rectify any of the ballots she messed with. Stupid twunt deserves a stint in prison.

They've said they're throwing out the two ballots she tampered with. They won't be counted.

Her vote still counts, though. She likely won't be voting anymore after this. Felony and all...

Will they be re-issuing ballots to the two voters that had their ballots tampered with?

Nope. They'd already been removed from the envelopes and placed in the anonymity stack. No way to prove whose they were at the point. Two people get deprived of their rights because of this nimrod, even though it's easy to tell which ones she added -- she used a pencil and the originals were in ink.

They've been seized as evidence. It shouldn't make much difference -- if those two votes make any difference on the final totals for any race, there will be a lawsuit to include them, I'm sure.

Just like provisional ballots -- they don't count questioned votes unless mathematically they can make a difference to the tally.

This biatch needs her ass kicked repeatedly.

I get the feeling that my preferred Romney win and Democrats sweep congress outcome probably has no chance of happening.

I'm now leaning towards voting Cthulhu.

(In my ideal world it's actually super sekret moderate Romney who has been running and the tea party wing of the republicans gets thrown the hell out of office, the weather is nice and sunny on my planet this morning.)

Voted weeks ago, because Oregon is the best state in these United States, and knows damn well how to run an election.

Looking forward to seeing Measure 80 and Obama win. Everything else is secondary.

I got a little shaken up by the info I was reading too when I deliberately stepped out of my perspectival 'bubble' for a bit-but it did give me better understanding of why Obama is up so much on Intrade and what not.

Freepers are funny creatures. Some, at the edges, get just a glimpse of reality, and it scares them. But then get back into Freeper land, and they take comfort from the others, the ones who shun reality entirely, and happily inhabit a world all of their own. They will be the ones most rattled on Wednesday, when actually reality intrudes upon them. I think this quote is quite prescient:

The list of those who deserve a heaping helping of schadenfreude is a long one.

I think the media is trying to save him for 2016 hoping he'll ripen with age. Okay not really the truth is I've been trying not pay attention these last few days and well ... it seems that isn't possible.

I don't know. I get the feeling like Barack won't email me 10-15 times a day anymore. I'll miss the attention, and it's a real confidence boost having someone continually tell me how important I am.

When you listen the the DU-Types, you have to take into consideration the major (IMHO) difference between Libs and Conservatives.

Libs place huge trust in AUTHORITY and put very little effort into trying to make rational sense out of what they see going around them.

Conservatives are just the opposite. We reject AUTHORITY and count on our brains to figure things out.

Libs accept the idea of global warming, rampant racism and all the Oboma spin machine stories and lies without question. That's just how they're wired.

So Nate Silver is their God and he has spoken. That's all they need to know.

Christie will make a play. But the billionaires have to decide. Will their anti-tax, anti-government, privatize everything, regulation is the root of all evil ethos win out over the religiosity. But the reality is that the religiosity part is a shrinking demographic, if a passionate one.

The economy will continue to struggle, through no fault of any president. There just isn't an economic base like manufacturing to drive wealth creation the way it did post WWII. Americans will want to blame somebody and will blame the Democrats after 8 years. But if they stay as far to the right as they are, it will be hard to win.

A good day fro me will be an Obama win, a Warren win, a Kennedy win, and MA Ballot Questions passing (Right to Repair, Right to Die, Medical Marijuana, and the Community Preservation Act).

See you folks later tonight for all the whining, blaming, excuse-making, gnashing of teeth and rendering of garments!
