shower_in_my_socks: bunner: Does it bother anybody that the governance of the free world comes down to a beauty pageant, a schoolyard name calling match and who has the most millions to back a pony for what is, essentially, a four hundred thousand dollar a year civil service job? Just curious.

A few hundred years ago, it was settled by wars. So this would be an upgrade.

Which cost more, wars or the ad campaigns? On the one side, the loser of the war was vanquished, exiled, or that other thing. In this system, they try again 4 years later, and in the interim drum up more herp than a Calcutta brothel. In the end, we all lose.

/just here for the funny pictures

Good luck to them, seriously. That won't stop the feds from busting folks if they want though.Look at California. Obama told the feds to lay off, which they did for a few months. Then they started raiding the medical dispensaries again.

/The feds won't bother with individuals but I bet they still go after larger operations.

Ted Kennedy's Brain Tumor: Lenny_da_Hog: Summoner101: Cucullen: Not sure if anyone has pointed this out, but regardless of what happens with obomney, CO and WA are going to legalize pot tomorrow. Thats gonna get interesting.

And possibly Oregon.

Oregon made the mistake of letting pot-heads write the measure. It's pretty inept. They call for massive administration for testing, quality control, a commission, etc., all within the first 90 days with no funding.

One of Arizona's upstanding radio personalities made the most prudent of points: don't let pot heads right the pot legalization initiatives. It detracts from the sensible legalization people's genuine efforts to reign in our overbearing government. STAY AWAY AND GET HIGH (AFTER VOTING).

This is how the WA bill was written, or at least it's initial intent. It's main supporters are a former DA and law enforcement professionals tired of wasting resources on solutions that don't address the problem. It's now as far as pot heads would like, but it's definitely the more pragmatic of the approaches.

Everyone should be farking congratulating me. I voted against Romney to save the two party system in America. With his defeat, the Republicans will be forced to nominate Marco Rubio in 2016 thus saving them from regional party, old white person status. I have single handedly saved democracy!

I for one would vote for Obama (if I didn't live in a state that will 100 percent vote for Romney) and I'm a Republican. Although if Romney wins I am going to love to see the fark thread with all the liberal crying.

I'm mainly looking forward to Washington and maybe Colorado legalizing weed, and the crazy clusterfark that happens afterwards.

I can't wait for them to more even further to the right, so that no moderate will ever again run for president, and thereby be elected.

The Financial Times of London has an article that points out that in the event of a tie the election of the President gets thrown to the House and the election of the Vice-President gets thrown to the Senate, which means that you could end up with Romney-Biden.

Ooooo! very scary, kids!

Lt_Ryan: Schroedinger's Glory Hole: Yes, both toward the center. If you think there is a huge difference between Democrats and Republicans, check out the political disparity outside this country. I would prefer an Obama win but am holding out on voting until there is a truly pro-science president that will stop raiding dispensaries and start collecting taxes from religious organizations. You know, Change.

Democrats and Republicans may talk about science but neither side sees it as a priority, mainly because the majority of American's don't either. It doesn't matter what people or parties say, it matters what they do and for government that means funding. Both sides will fund or defund science to whatever degree is needed for their priorities. A Democrat may say they are pro-science but at the end of the day they don't spend the money on it. A Republican may come off anti-science because they will say they don't believe in evolution, but they'll spend money on science because it helps out a business.

How are you going to tax a religious organization? If you taxed them as a corporation any church with even a half decent accountant would show 0 profit and pay no tax. The only thing it would do would be to make donations non tax deductible, but even then some portions would still be considerable charitable and therefore tax deductible.

That was well reasoned with a gloomy outlook on the prospect of increasing NASA funding. I was hoping we could start with taxing their property. At least we have a shot at three states legalizing recreational marijuana.

My only regret is that someone like Santorum didn't get the party nod, so his far right freakshow ideas could have been soundly trounced. It's time for the pendulum to swing back the other direction. Romney's loss will bring out the "we just need to go FURTHER right" idiots, delaying the swing a few more years.

Rumors are that Obama will have the Feds fight the states over it, assuming that he wins. (GET OUT AND VOTE, KIDDIES.) But I don't know about that -- I think Liberals would be a lot more vocal when it comes to criticizing Obama in a 2nd term knowing that they don't risk hurting his re-election chances, since it would be his last term. And I think that with the issue turning the corner in public opinion, that the other Dem leaders might start vocally supporting pot legalization, too, and lean on O as well.

That we should legalize pot is probably the only major issue that my ultra-conservative parents and I agree on. That should tell the Feds something.

Yeah, if it happens it probably gonna get challenged by that twat Holder. Based on precedents, the SC will over turn it. In WA the Lt gov is strongly antipot, so he's gonna be fighting it as well.
I have a sinking feeling that the SC will be deciding the presidential election as well. And based off precedent...

Nah. It'll certainly be closer... but the math just isn't there. I'm going 290 - 248, Obama victory; Romney takes NC, VA and FL but can't eek out OH or PA (or NH/WI/NV or any of the other useless battlegrounders).
