What's with this Democratic desire for heredity monarchy?

Michelle is Barack's daughter?

OMG!

I bet you thought the Bush 1 and 2 were father and son. BROTHERS. Just look at the "mom". She's WAY too old to be anything but grandma!

JohnnyC: mediablitz: I am looking forward to the "throw Romney under the bus" tour that the inside folks are going to have after he loses. All those "party first" farkers who pretended to support Romney are going to make the post-election Palin thrashing look like a day at the beach.

Made for TV movie?

As many years as he's been running?

Does it bother anybody that the governance of the free world comes down to a beauty pageant, a schoolyard name calling match and who has the most millions to back a pony for what is, essentially, a four hundred thousand dollar a year civil service job? Just curious.

Out of curiosity, what do people here think qualifies as a "landslide" victory? Double up on the opponents EV? 400+ in the EV? 500+? I'm going to say the minimum threshold is 358.

I'm busy and out of internet range until 7:30 p.m. MST tomorrow night. Should be just about the time they start calling a couple states and the Romney "roll up the carpet" procession begins.

2012-11-06 02:33:04 AM
I'd bet at least a couple bucks that somewhere at this hour Marco Rubio is meeting with important GOP backers, planning how to react to Romney's loss in the most presidential way as he begins not just looking at but working towards 2016.

Treasure Coast Florida reporting: I early voted last Tuesday and I had an hour wait at 2pm. My brother was going to early vote Saturday but left when he found out it was a 2+ hour wait. He will try again today. Ive never seen waits like this. Seems anecdotally at least that turnout around here is pretty large.

I will be so glad when this is over. I cant go anywhere, pick up the phone, open my mailbox, etc without political garbage being foisted on me. Florida is still a swing state though I think Romney will take it. The other reason for it being as bad as it is around here is that Im in Allen Wests new district. So much superPAC money has been dumped here from both sides trying to get this seat. I think he is probably going to win. Yay me...sigh.

/also I expect this thread to be a well reasoned and thought out discussion...bwhahahahahahaha...who am I kidding?

Wait, is it leader of the free world when it's a Republican, and overpaid civil servant (oxymoron?) when it's a Dem, or the other way around? I'm so confused.

John Henry Eden: [www.nndb.com image 243x307]

VOTE BUSH 2000.

George Bush is a true example of a COMPASSIONATE CONSERVATIVE. He will bring honor and decency back to the White House.

We agree that $1.25/gallon is a ludicrously high amount. George Bush is a former Oil Man with many close ties to arab oil interests. He'll be able to talk with the middle east and truly be the Inside Man to ease the stress on struggling motorists.

America is in no way the world's police, and has no business going abroad sacrificing young american lives telling other countries how they should be doing things. George Bush will put America first, and focus on true Homeland Security by dedicating his administration to a mighty MISSILE SHIELD.

We cannot have the proof... a smoking gun... to come in the form of a mushroom cloud. By building a Missile Shield, American families will be prototected from any and all harm from rogue nations. George Bush will combat the true dangers of the 21st century, all the while helping families grow at home.

By encouraging deregulation in the private healthcare and banking industry, free market forces will ensure competition drives prices down, making private healthcare and the American dream of home ownership affordable to all. It is unamerican to inject the Government in other people's business, and it is a core Republican belief that Government should be so small as to be able to drown it in your bathtub. Privacy, above all, is the God-given right of Americans.

Vote Compassionate Conservatism.
Vote fiscal responsibility.
Vote small Government.
Vote GOP.

Vote Bush 2000

When my guy wins, it's a landslide, and he has earned himself a mandate to rule the country as he sees fit. If the other guy wins, he barely eked out a victory, and must constantly reach across the aisle in order to effectively rule over a divided nation.

Duh.

It's been a while since I've read A Short History of Byzantium, but I do believe it was Michael VIII Palaiologos who insisted that Byzantium did not need a good Emperor: it needed a good manager. Alas, Babylon Washington...

Oregon made the mistake of letting pot-heads write the measure. It's pretty inept. They call for massive administration for testing, quality control, a commission, etc., all within the first 90 days with no funding.

It's too bad you can't get someone who doesn't want to be President as a party nominee. Indeed that it's only people who really really really want the job could be seen as part of the problem.

But if the leader of any given nation is elected by money, is there actually a nation, or is it just money? Cause so far, this ain't working out so hot for those who have none and the only thing we manufacture here is lawyers, code and debt.

Rumors are that Obama will have the Feds fight the states over it, assuming that he wins. (GET OUT AND VOTE, KIDDIES.) But I don't know about that -- I think Liberals would be a lot more vocal when it comes to criticizing Obama in a 2nd term knowing that they don't risk hurting his re-election chances, since it would be his last term. And I think that with the issue turning the corner in public opinion, that the other Dem leaders might start vocally supporting pot legalization, too, and lean on O as well.

That we should legalize pot is probably the only major issue that my ultra-conservative parents and I agree on. That should tell the Feds something.

For me the scary part about this election is the social issues that are at stake. It seems clear to me that those voters who are not in the top 1%-5% and are voting for Romney are doing so because of social reasons; gay marriage, racism, abortion, etc.
