RadioAaron: Champagne is in the fridge. It will be opened:

1) When Referendum 74 passes here in the great state of Washington, OR
2) When the president is reelected.

Both would be just tits.

Is that the REEFERendum? If so, GOOD LUCK and may the Force be weed you.

Last election: Voted absentee, living in Canada.
This election: Voting, in person, on election day, in Florida.

So very glad to be back with you Farkers (many of the same ones as '08).

/Obama second term, coming right up!

Sweet, merciful crap...it seems like I voted ages ago.

October 21.

Obama.

Didn't vote for him in 2008. He got my vote this year.

Is that EV betting pool for the election stiff going on? I dunno if I've seen the guy who was running it post in a while. I wonder if the mods killed it or something since he was posting in random threads.

Either way, my bet is Obama 303

How does your vote count other than the popular total? DC doesn't have any electoral votes, does it?

Tomorrow instead of the country moving ahead together to do the best with the next 4 years the following will happen:

1. One party will claim the tears of the other party are delicious
2. The other party will claim the current president isn't theirs and is going to ruin the country.

/One thing for sure: Either way your country will still be strong, still be proud and will still clog my vacation to Disneyland with your handifat.

I am voting tomorrow and I hope Obama wins but I feel that my vote will actually mean a little bit more if I vote for Gary Johnson. I'll admit that I didn't know much about him until a few days ago, but everything that I have read about him I agree with. I live in Georgia so an Obama victory is about as likely as Christianity being outlawed in the state tomorrow.

Pincy: fst_creeper: I don't care who you vote for individually. All I hope for is that you educated/educate yourselves and vote accordingly.

//would love it if we got some real opposition parties to raise the chance of breaking up the Laurel and Hardy duo we currently have.

Probably going to need to change the way we vote in order to do that. Some sort of preferential voting system. Other countries manage to do it but yet for some reason we aren't capable here in the US?

Going to a popular vote would do it. And we can do/have done it in congress. The biggest issue is the "I'm throwing away my vote mentality!"
It's complete nonsense. The only vote you throw away is the one you fail to cast. If 15% of the voters chose to avoid the two major parties, it would start reminding the self serving bastards in Washington who they are supposed to serve and that we are getting angry.

/nope, not jaded why do you ask?

thisispete: It's important, even if you're the bluest person in the reddest state or vice-versa.

No, it really isn't. That's feel-good philosophical nonsense. For the individual, voting in an area that's totally dominated by one side is functionally the same as not voting at all.

Y'know, the town with like 50 people in either Vermont or NH that pride themselves on being the first in the country to vote. Polls open at 12.01am and close once everybody's finished voting (usually before 1).

Ya mean this one...

After the election someone please take the phrase "horse race" behind the barn and shoot it. Thanks

It's not even that. With the exception of 2008, Dixville Notch has always leaned Republican.

I know overall it hardly matters to my day-to-day life mostly (although I recently got fired by a staunch Republican for no real reason other than he just hated me) (and wow unemployment sure has changed under Gov. Rick Scott, now it's called "REemployment" and you have to fill out math and reading comprehension quizzes for some reason) but um,

never mind. Republicans are the devil. They are the worst part of America. They are a cancer. We can let those evil festering ignorant pusbags try to take over our decent world, or we can fight back. Republicans refuse to lend a hand to their countrymen in times of need.

They are no countrymen of mine. They need to be ostracized and shamed for their filthy morals and philosophies.

If, somehow, the Democrats beat the odds and take the House of Reps while also holding the Senate and the Oval Office, I will laugh and laugh and laugh.

Hell, Oval Office + Senate is enough for me to laugh, but I honestly don't think the Dems will capture the House of Reps in the next decade. I hope the voters surprise me in that regard.

Help a farker out.
I've been arguing on a different medium (RL) about regulation and how it has divided the nation. I'm gonna dumb it way down for time's sake.

With regulation
1. Farmer A biatches about not enough water and all the bugs. Farmer A hates Farmers B & C and the town and "regulation".
2. Farmer B biatches about not enough water and all the bugs. Farmer B hates Farmer C and the town and "regulation".
3. Farmer C biatches about not enough water and all the bugs. Farmer C hates the town and "regulation.
4. The town spends a lot of money cleaning the water.

Without regulation.
1. Farmer A needs a whole bunch of clean well water and a whole bunch of pesticides to maximize his profits. Farmer hates regulation.
2. Farmer B downstream from A needs a whole bunch of clean well water and a whole bunch of pesticides to maximize his profits. Farmer hates regulation and Farmer A.
3. Farmer C downstream from B needs a whole bunch of clean well water and a whole bunch of pesticides to maximize his profits. Farmer hates regulation and Farmers A and B.
4. Town D dies. As do Farmers B and C. Farmer A wins.

But either way, the enemy is always "regulation". Weird how that works.

Pincy: It's plain ridiculous that we continue to allow the weather to have an impact on elections. As Bathia Mapes can attest to, we here in Oregon know how to do elections. I only hope other states will come join us in the 21st century sooner than later.

That explains why I'm not allowed to pump my own gas when I drive through Oregon, I guess.
