Grand_Moff_Joseph: And, now that his prominence has risen dramatically, an additional question: Will 538's servers melt before the first polls close?

xelnia: Voted on Saturday. Feel kind of lame for being excited to see how this turns out...

There is no shame in feeling excitement in having the opportunity to select our leaders when so many people in the world can not. No shame in feeling pride in Democracy.

I'm counting on you all to keep me entertained at work tomorrow. Let's see some pics of redheads and cats and Arrested Development Romney quotes. I want an equal amount of Pocket Ninja and Mike Lowell. A few updates on the freepers. The words Frothy, harmonizing statisticals, and acorn to be included in one out of every five posts. And if it's not too much to ask, could we have a few of those Ron Paul Legolas pics?

Thanks everyone, looking forward to a hell of a derpy day tomorrow.

Why are people playing up this election? It's not that big of one. Whoever wins is just going to keep doing what we have been doing.

theewhiterhino: King Something: Are the results from that one hamlet in yet?

Y'know, the town with like 50 people in either Vermont or NH that pride themselves on being the first in the country to vote. Polls open at 12.01am and close once everybody's finished voting (usually before 1).

Ya mean this one...

skullkrusher: Dixville Notch was a tie! We got a horse race ladies and germs!

After the election someone please take the phrase "horse race" behind the barn and shoot it. Thanks

It's not even that. With the exception of 2008, Dixville Notch has always leaned Republican.

Don't blame me folks, I voted for Nixon and Elvis

Pincy: It's plain ridiculous that we continue to allow the weather to have an impact on elections. As Bathia Mapes can attest to, we here in Oregon know how to do elections. I only hope other states will come join us in the 21st century sooner than later.

Indeed. My household's ballots were mailed in over a week ago.

This election, oddly enough, I'm breaking my own personal rules. I'm voting straight democrat without even knowing 2/3 of the candidates. The Republicans have gone off the deep end, and in 2008 and 2010 I abstained from voting in races I was unfamiliar with. Now, I've become just jaded enough to vote party line without a second thought. I really, truly, sincerely hope that I don't have to do that again in 2014 and 2016, and can instead vote for 3rd party candidates I like. It's just, after these past 4 years, I cannot in good conscience do anything to increase the chances of Republican victory, and that includes not voting for the Democrat. Again, given a few years time to cool their jets, I hope the Republicans come back to sanity and ignore or explicitly distance themselves from the crazier elements in their party, so that I won't have to make my vote an explicit attack upon them once again.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, I know, crazy, but... Obama is going to win.

2012-11-06 01:10:07 AM
I just want to say that the Obama supporters here have been delightful. I know the politics tab can look like an Obama-Biden campaign office at times, but I don't think the support ever got obnoxious. It was always thoughtful, fair, and hilarious. And it made for a nice respite from bumping heads with Conservatives out in the real world.

If things don't go our way, it's all good. Better to be right and alone than wrong and crowded. And I still wouldn't want to be associated with any other group of losers than you guys. I say that as a Cubs fan.

Washington's exclusively vote by mail as well.

Well, the largest political thread on record (according to the Top Comments page) is the HCR voting thread, at 8573 comments, so we have a high bar to clear. :)

I'll do my part to add to this thread. I'll add something random every couple of hours just to boost the numbers.

I don't care who you vote for individually. All I hope for is that you educated/educate yourselves and vote accordingly.

Feels like where I am, I didn't care who they were, at this point I'm sick of the Republican bullshiat, and voted Dem all the way, there was an instance of a Rep/Ind and i went with the Ind just cause I'm that sick of the Republicans... also if they didn't have party affiliation, I did my research to see where they stand and if they had GOP support

I voted for a Republican for Lt. Governor - Bill Finkbeiner's an unusual (R).

My biggest worry is R74. Marriage Equality polls are never accurate, and it's leading within the margin they can be off (10%).

Probably going to need to change the way we vote in order to do that. Some sort of preferential voting system. Other countries manage to do it but yet for some reason we aren't capable here in the US?
