Honestly,. What did the Republicans expect? They nominated a phony-baloney magic underwear wearing cultist.

It's truly amazing that the election is as close as it is.

On Fox News today they're spending a lot of time running stories about "possible" voter fraud incidents. I guess their plan is to watch their guy lose, and then spend the next few weeks/months moaning about how it was impossible for Obama to win without cheating.

Thus the news cycle is revitalized, ads sell, consumers consume, and the powers-that-be have exactly what they planned for when they selected the face-man/President years ago.

Of course news sources are going to be biased. If you really believe your favorite news source is impartial you're either a farking idiot or in denial. The only differences is that some try to be more subtle about it while others are blatantly obvious.

I love how the article doesn't really mention the biggest criticism of Romney, namely that he's not held a consistent position on any of his campaign points. Funny how you left that out, Fox. Cause I've heard concern about that in the media hundreds of times more often than I've heard them bring up his faith.

It cracks me up, it makes me wonder that if you use "Fox News" and "Facts" in the same sentence, enough times do you create a black hole of derp that will swallow the entire world?

Yea, Faux News, you are not part of the problem. In fact, your fair and balanced reporting is simply a beacon, a beacon that tell everyone "Here lies Bullshiat! Stay Away!"

Not sure what a "liberal" is, we really don't have more than a handful of them in DC.

But sometimes, when you take a series of positions that are unbelievably ignorant, delusional and potentially dangerous to the public welfare, you are going to experience some blowback.

"If you were President Obama, you got the best of coverage and photos of you with halos around your head. Your made-up autobiography and "composite" girlfriend were a blip in the news, your radical positions downplayed and the ongoing failures of your administration - economy, fast and furious, foreign policy in general - were all given short shrift in the major media.
Even your massive failure on Libya where four Americans were killed was somehow "utterly contrived" and CNN's Candy Crowley covered for you during the debates. Every silly thing your PR people thought up from Big Bird to bayonets to binders received journalistic attention.

The major media, on the other hand, turned Mitt Romney into a caricature straight off a Monopoly card. They hollered "Bain" like it was a scene from "Batman," dug into long-forgotten high school pranks and tried to depict him as radical right-wing, a well as bash him for his faith. A casual comment about the "47 percent" became "seismic" or a "disaster." Things like the massive decline in the job participation rate and Obama's $16-trillion nation debt were afterthoughts to news coverage."

Fox already publically sued to be able to present fictional news. They already declared in court that what they present isnt meant to be factual, that they are strictly entertainment - why does anyone care what they say?

2012-11-05 06:33:27 PM

Incontinent_dog_and_monkey_rodeo: The desperate need for a close race has made the coverage pretty sad. Because the electoral college doesn't show a close race, the media insists on only looking at the popular vote. If the EV was close, they'd be going over the math in every state every night. But because the EV is practically a lock for Obama, they can talk about anything but how close the national polls are.

That's right, and the next time your candidate leads in the popular vote but is behind in the electoral vote, you'll be whinging about the evils of the electoral college.

The media always covers based on the popular vote, and they don't write off a candidate either.
Remember Dewey? No?

Because millions of people still think they are a credible media outlet attempting to present something that, when viewed in the proper light, resembles journalism, rather than the television news equivalent of World Net Daily?

Thunderpipes: Not sure how liberals can even attempt to deny that almost all media is actively campaigning for Democrats.

Straw man, party of one?

Much of the domestic media is biased one way or the other. That includes Fox, who (if they wanted to be accurate) could change their name to the Tea Party News Enquirer. That doesn't make it right, nor does it alter the irony that Fox is biatching about media bias when they've spent the last year sucking the balls of their conservative funding base.

"Yeah, it's horrible how the media has influenced the campaign. What's that? Why am I mumbling? Sorry, it must be this teabag in my mouth."

arentol: So many FOX haters....

I have noticed we have a lot of "attacks to the source" of this article, but no arguments against the points raised in the article itself. I have to assume from this that nobody here can find any fault with the article and most people here are just a bunch of blind FOX haters.

Thanks everyone for supporting the article with your failure to address it in a substantive manner!!!!

BTW, does anyone know if Biden really said that, and what context it was in? I am asking because I don't watch FOX and I NEVER heard about it from anyone else. I would be really curious to know just how much FOX is spinning it. On the flip side, I know for a fact it can't be as bad as the liberal media spin on "Binder full of women", which in context made 100% sense and was not offensive at all. But you damn sure know the liberal media took that one and tried to run Romeny into the ground with it. If they were unbiased they would have not done that, or would have done the same with Biden.

I agree with you (and the author of the "opinion piece") up to a point. 24 hr news, whether it be FOX, CNN, MSNBC, HLN, etc. , no longer exists to provide the news: They exist to tell a narrative, because a narrative sells and keeps ratings up. And they will do what ever they can to keep viewers entertained, and to find stories that play into that narrative.

But lets not pretend that Fox is anywhere near innocent in this. Or that even for an opinion piece, that it was incredibly biased or unwilling to consider that they themselves may be at fault.

/Excellent (correct) use of Ironic tag, BTW.

When you have seven news networks openly cheering for The Dope, and Fox News is the only one cheering for Romney, clearly it makes a lot of sense to pick on Fox News.

Because, you know, fairness is so important.

factoryconnection: A friend posted this on Facebook; this friend completely agrees with the source. This friend has worked his entire career for the military, driving desks at increasing pay rates. I'm serious, I served with him after my sea tour. He is the very picture of wasteful military spending and pretends to be a tea party patriot.

He thinks that me characterizing this column as an "Onion-worthy stinker" is an example of me trying to defend the left's malfeasance by pointing out Fox's foibles.

No, this is an example of a histrionic opinion piece straight out of corporate marketing.  "Fox is your beacon through all the "mainstream media's" lies about our (now that we like him) hero Mitt Romney!"

The "libertarian" dude I work with is on disability and takes a smoke break for 10-15 minutes every hour, which he gets paid for because his boss is in DC, and he doesn't count lunch or smoke breaks towards his hours. He also does jack shiat all day long. He totally earns his money through hard work, and he is always complaining about government waste. Oh, and he talks to me about all the things he sees on Fox & Friends because my desk is next to his.
