Paychecks are shrunken after more than a decade in which the workplace has asked more of wage earners and rewarded them less.

Speaking as an employee of a company run by Bain Capital...

IF YOU'RE CONCERNED ABOUT THIS, THEN WHY ARE YOU ENDORSING MITT FARKING ROMNEY?

Headline makes no sense, Obama supporters wouldn't change their vote simply because a newspaper endorses Willard, hence why they are called Obama supporters. The random idiotic independent voter might be swayed but newspaper endorsements are nothing more than quotes for campaign commercials nowadays anyway.

Fortunately, Obama supporters people don't read the paper

Mort Zuckerman wants a war with Iran which is the reason he supports Romney. That should tell you all you need to know about the man.

What are newspapers? Oh, I remember. Those irrelevant bird cage liners with day old news.

Paychecks are shrunken after more than a decade in which the workplace has asked more of wage earners and rewarded them less.

So in the wake of decades-long structural issues affecting wages, as well as a financial/housing crisis that damaged the economy more than anything since the Great Depression, we should blame the guy who has been in office for less than 4 years, and took over after the housing and financial crises hit? And, better yet, we should vote instead for the guy who built Bain Capital?

We need more newspapers. Seriously. Last week I had nothing to carve pumpkins on.

2012-11-05 12:35:13 PM
But Obama is responsible for the last decade, and most likely for the previous decade.

I wonder if the fact that the editor was the editor of News of the World when it was shut down after the phone hacking scandal.

In January 2012, former News of the World and New York Post editor Colin Myler was appointed editor-in-chief of the Daily News

And yet companies have been reporting record profits. I bet if they got another tax cut, they'd give everyone a raise.

Then, the subway fare, still paid by token, was $1.50, gasoline was $1.23 a gallon and the median rent for a stabilized apartment was $600 a month. Today, the base MetroCard subway fare is $2.25, gasoline is in the $3.90 range and the median stabilized rent is $1,050, with all the increases outpacing wage growth.

Obama killed bin Laden AND the NYC subway token.

The Daily News is the US version of The Sun.

Good sports coverage though.

You can't actually use tokens, but I'm sure there are plenty still out there.

It's worth noting that if you're getting employer sponsored health insurance, most of that paycheck is actually being siphoned off into the employer paid part of your insurance, which has been going up tremendously.

Yeah, I still have some leftover, and I'm in Texas now. Can you trade them in for Metro card credits?

Good question. We've been on the MetroCard for so long that I honestly can't think of anyone I know that's even thought of that. I'd imagine that you can't since a ride costs so much more than in the token era, but that's just a guess.

At least we proof read our headlines.

Like it matters. It's a totally meaningless gesture as New York is solidly blue. The last time they went red was nearly 30 years ago (1984). For a Democratic nominee to lose New York (or California) they'd have to come out as anti-union, for privatizing social security, against same-sex marriage, for shrinking the government, for cutting taxes, and against legalization of drugs...so basically a Republican with a D next to their name.

I was a bit surprised by it, but I assumed that there was some Israel or 1%er crap was going on there.

NY is blue. This was a stupid endorsement.

Stupid libtard.

You read all of those things and misinterpret them as being BAD. If you're Bain, the NY Daily News, Newscorp, Exxon, etc, lower wages are something to be encouraged, so vote Republican.

So the polls all show Obama ahead (except for Gallup), so now the right has turned to counting newspaper endorsements. And in their universe, this isn't desperation.

2012-11-05 03:58:58 PM
Yep, this makes sense. If there is one candidate that is concerned about workers wages, it is Mitt Romney. He understands that the lively-hood and well-being of a company's employees are more important than corporate profitability and stockholder earnings. He will fight those overpaid CEOs to improve the lives of the little guys. Trickle down economics will work this time.

2012-11-05 04:00:10 PM
Which Romney did they endorse? Conservative Romney, Moderate Romney, Business Romney or Generic Candidate Romney?

Here's the summary:

We will blame Obama for the Bush economic disaster and not fixing in a couple of years. So instead lets vote for the guy who wants to do the exact same policies that got us in the shiatter again!!!

The Daily News is fairly centrist. They run editorials by Charles Krauthammer on a regular basis and every now and then S. E. Cupp will pop up as well.

/I can't wait to hear Mitt's plan to lower token fares . . .

Nationally, over 56 million newspapers are sold daily. On Sunday, over 60 million are sold.

I also can't understand the mental disconnect of voting for a guy who complains about welfare and no jobs in the current economy who consistently aided the shipping of American jobs overseas.

2012-11-05 04:02:01 PM
Serious who the fark thinks Romney is going to be about getting the average worker a hirer wage? How the fark could your head be up your ass that far?

2012-11-05 04:02:01 PM
Paper? What is this paper you speak of? Are you talking about that thing I buy occasionally to get local news but mostly so I have something to put under the cat box when they miss occasionally?
I'm supposed to take the paper's political opinions seriously? Why should I when it's a dying medium with the internet cutting it's profits daily?

2012-11-05 04:02:19 PM
"Achingly slow job creation has left the U.S. with 4.3 million fewer positions than provided incomes to Americans in 2007."

Clearly Obama's fault.

/Yeah, that's some fine analysis, Lou.
