fark Israel.

I thought that Sheldon Adelson's puppet Romney was the BFF for Israel? Or maybe the US government just does that regime's bidding no matter who wins.

Obama, like every other president, is pretty much forced to kiss Israel's ass.

Adelson cares more about keeping his pasty white ass out of prison. Enough of Congress has already been purchased so Israel's bidding will be done.

As I'm dancing in the rain of neocon tears after the election, I'll also be looking forward to watching the investigation and prosecution of Adelson proceed under Obama. Mitt turned out to be a bad investment.

Why is that? I'm not arguing that it isn't true, but honestly wondering exactly WHY the USA gives two shiats about Israel.

Obama has neither been good for this country and without a biased media covering for him, only the far left would think otherwise. Obama chance at reelection basically comes down to counting on people not knowing what has been going on in the last four years or more insidiously, knowing full well what has been going on in the last four years and liking it.

Voting for Obama is essentially saying "I'm voting for a proven failure over somebody with proven track record of success"

Interesting.

So ... there's more to Israel than Netanyahu and the Likud party, then? They're not one and the same? There are other political parties and opinions and stuff??? It's not like Republicans say?

Cool.

Lobbyists, Jewish voters, lobbyists, various realpolitik reasons relating to the balance of power in the mid-east and lobbyists.

My theories are that it has something to do with Christian fundies believing that as long as 'we' (see Zionists) control the holy land, Jesus will be able to come back for the rapture. Or some other bullshiat like that.

The other theory is that we need a strong ally in the middle east region to help exert our influence over the area.

There have been minor candidates in the past who have made criticisms of Israel, and they get lambasted for it.

Take Ron Paul, for example:

http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/12/29/us-usa-campaign-paul-israel - idUSTRE7BS03W20111229

Link

There was some HINT that he might not be a total Israel kiss-ass, so he actually had to make a statement he loves Israel.

http://communities.washingtontimes.com/neighborhood/high-tide-and-tur n /2012/jan/29/ron-paul-and-israel-question/

Link

The article goes on to say how much Republicans like Ron Paul on many issues, BUT WHOA, he's talking about cutting off our billions in aid to Israel (which, incidentally, is a pretty wealthy and powerful country,) and HOLY shiat HE'S THE ANTICHRIST NOW.

Meanwhile, Israel could give two farks about the United States. Israel has been caught spying on us and trying to steal military technology despite all the shiat we give them anyway. But fundies love the Israel regardless.

Well they are our number one ally in the area. They also spend a vast amount of money buying our weapons (a very large chuck we give them in aid). I would have to say that their opinion while not a real deciding factor should be paid some attention.

If Romney loses, it can't be that proven a track record, now can it?

Besides, I thought were weren't allowed to ask about his 'success' at Bain and the olympics, since it tended to bring some... uncomfortable issues to light.

Well, since the President hasn't been inclined to call Israel out on it's invasion of Palestine and it's piracy of international aid ships heading for the Gaza Strip, I'd say the hardcore Israel lobby shouldn't be that angry with him.

The Stealth Hippopotamus: Well they are our number one ally in the area.

You mean Turkey?

Israel picks enemies that are more reprehensible than the actions of Israel.

Israel has a large PAC that is active here.

Antisemitism is a powerful accusation - unlike other bigotry no Democrat is going to pick up hate-votes to match the lost votes.

As powerful an accusation as it may be, people need to get it out of their heads that criticism of Israel is not criticism of the entire Jewish faith, any more than criticizing the Vatican for the enabling of boy-rape is a criticism of the entire Christian faith.

Bain: government bailout
Olympics: government bailout
Massachusetts: 700 veto overrides

Doesn't look very successful to me.

Yeah, they're our bestest buddies! They didn't cost us billions of dollars and weeks of time when they didn't allow us to stage troops there. Nope, no siree.

I still want to know why we're paying billions of dollars a year in aid to another first-world country. Still waiting for an answer.

Sorry I'm not up on this sort of thing. Did they even let us use bases there during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars? How many ground troops did they send to battle?

Must have been epic, since they're our number one ally in the area.
