You can't have a reverse October surprise.

2012-11-05 08:05:16 AM
Mark Halperin was on Morning Joe saying that Sandy was the cause of the Mittentum(TM) stoppage.

Seriously, we're going to blame the loss of the candidate that hasn't held a significant lead in any poll throughout the election, and just barely made it out of the primaries on a hurricane that hit deep blue country?

There is not, and there never was a horse race. Please, stop trying.

NJ Republican Governor Christie sure did more in that one interview to show romney to be an asshat than any debate ever could.

all y'all need to watch the daily show segment on "a tribute to institutional competence" if youve not seen it already.

Heh... The GOP is already lining up their excuses. Scarborough was touting this this morning.

"Sandy stopped the Mittmentum! We would have won if it weren't for that storm!!"

The whining is going to be epic tomorrow night.

I wonder how that computes in the average fundie's brain, since they prayed so much for God to intervene on behalf of Rmoney?

Does this mean that even God has joined the list of "Liberal things we hate"?

In 2008, I was willing to give the GOP the benefit of the doubt and assume after the election they would settle down and work with Obama to help fix the serious problems we have in this country... Instead, these shameless bastards went on a four year bender of extreme partisan lunacy and showed they were willing to put Americans in worse financial situations in order to further their political goals.

If Obama wins re-election, there will be no benefit of the doubt given from me. I want to see the GOP crushed under their own hubris, regressive bullshiat and willful ignorance and, yes, I will whole-heartedly enjoy their whining.

I think that Sandy is the go to excuse for all the pundits and columists that have been promoting the horse race. They don't want the Bill Kristol treatment on Wednesday morning, so I expect to see more of these narratives coming out over the next couple of days. That way they can absolve themselves of pushing the close race when it, most likely, won't turn out that way.

That said the Clownhall link above has convinced me that R/R will when in a landslide. So, there's that.

2012-11-05 08:19:14 AM
So, Obama only acted like he is against global warning in order to cause this storm in order to win the election.

YES.

Until the center reemerges in the Republican party, they are not a party worthy of holding power.

Republican Jesus didn't account for the staying power of Chris Christie. He was not supposed to live to praise the President.

He is gale force wind resistant.

It is still too close for comfort.

Get the fark out there and vote, fellow libtardos!! No pre-hatched chicken-counting.

2012-11-05 08:28:43 AM
I have a hard time believing that the storm will have any effect whatsoever on the election. Obama didn't do anything special, yet he didn't screw the pooch either. He did what any President ought to do in such a situation.

2012-11-05 08:29:01 AM
The partisan news outlets ran night and day. We were that close to never being able to have a rational conversation about politics forever. But there was one man who taught us to fight, to storm the wire of the camps, to smash those republican motherfarkers into junk. He turned it around. He brought us back from the brink. His name is Obama. Barack Obama. Our president, our soon to be reelected President.

Still, that was more coherent than when Mika brought up the early voting in Florida.

I never considered that, according to them, it was a bona fide act of God that ensured Obama's re-election.

That's quite delicious.

Thats No Moose: Now imagine a scenario where Romney picked Christie as VP nominee and he helped fix the damage from Sandy.

I dont like that. Not one bit.

However, who's to think that Christie wouldve even taken it? Perhaps he was even offered it...

I think Christie is biding his time til 2016 and will run on his own. Why settle for Romneys sloppy seconds when he can have all three holes on his own in 4 years?

The difference is, we've seen how well a Republican administration can handle a major disaster, and how well a Democratic administration can handle a major disaster.

Turns out one party is better at it than the other. Considerably better.

My mom says that god used the hurricane to hit blue states to tell people to vote for Romney.

I then asked her: 'So, what was god saying with those red states he set on fire during the drought last summer?'

She quickly dropped the subject.

If you're comparing this to Katrina, well you certainly do have a point there. But regardless of party, Obama acted exactly as I would expect any President to act. Bush meant well, but he certainly did screw the pooch when it came to Katrina. Obama did what he was supposed to do, which at least SHOULDN'T be anything special. He's got my vote because he appears to be competent. That SHOULD be a given for any President, but I guess in recent memory, it hasn't always been.

Yup. We're voting for a guy in part because he's not completely screwing up the job he was elected to do.

And that is exactly as depressing as it sounds.

Yeah, it's a pretty low bar but, well lesser of two evils and all that. I'm not positive enough that Obama will win PA to go third party.

The point of the article is that one party screws up disaster relief and one doesn't. Obama is part of the latter.
