Biatches please. You have exactly zero intent of working with the President unless he utterly caves to precisely what you are asking for, and even then, your past history indicates that you will abandon that position in favor of one further to the right.

If he wins on Tuesday and keeps the Senate, I hope he walks into the Oval Office on the day sequestration takes effect, whips out his dick and flops it onto the desk, and calls the Press Corps in for a photo op.

The GOP already blew its collective load. They can't get any less cooperative, so the plan will be how to work around them.

Why make any concessions if they aren't going to get you anywhere?

sammyk: So let me get this straight. All of the Bush tax cuts are expiring on 12/31 if no deal is reached and these clowns think they are bargaining from a position of power? I call BS. Same goes for the fiscal cliff. Forget about uninformed voters that will forget all about it by the next election. The defense contractors will remember that the republican led congress let all those automatic cuts go into effect and when they do you will see a whole lot of congress critters get cut off of the campaign donation Christmas list in 2014. They are going to be ready to deal.

If Obama wins he has the bully pulpit.

And he better effin use it for once.

Nothing from this Congressional period matters. Obama will likely get re-elected, Reid will get the Senate back to normal in January, and then we can proceed to actually pass bills. Mind you, this is with a Republican majority in the House, so there's still going to be some battling going on. But the next Congress will have a sense of normalcy that we haven't seen in something like 6 years.

And this election will likely reduce the Republican majority in the House, anyway. I'm not huge on trifecta majorities, even with my own party, but given how badly the GOP has f**ked up Congress (as well as the Bush years), I really can't justify them wielding ANY power right now. They can come back to the dinner table when they stop acting like babies.

That's all we saw as "compromise" from farking republicans. FFS I hope Obama and Dems have learned it by now and ram whatever shiat has been held hostage by the GOP thru the lame duck session.

Let's see, when he came into office in 2008 the GOP warned him of consequences of railroading them.

...so he played nice and as a result nothing got done.

In 2010 the GOP had some legislative power and as a result, nothing got done unless it got railroaded.

So now n 2012 after years of accusing the President of being responsible for not getting enough done you're warning him of the consequences of not railroading you.

Seriously? This is the best you can come up with?

You should be asking less about getting or not getting the pounding you so richly deserve and thinking more about how to minimize the beating and making something positive out of it.

And yes, the second term is always the term to leave a legacy. Anticipate as such.

Republicans aren't conceding that Obama will win Tuesday, but they're warning that allowing tax rates on high-income Americans to increase at the end of the year - as Obama and Hill Democrats have proposed

You mean the EXPIRATION of the TEMPORARY Bush tax cuts? I'm pretty sure that's a done deal. But Congress can make them permanent, all they need to do is get 2/3 of Congress to vote for them. If they're all that popular, that should be easy.

House Republicans won't work with you on anything? Holding you hostage on the debt ceiling? No problem; let's arrange matters during the debt ceiling negotiations so that when nothing happens, military spending gets cut. Oh, and we'll time it for the lame-duck session after a presidential election. What's that you say? That's the same the Bush tax cuts expire, so when nothing happens, taxes go up as well? Must be coincidence.

Probably also coincidence that when House Republicans come to the negotiating table in February of 2013, they'll be arguing in favor of more spending and an increase in the budget deficit, while the Democrats get to don the mantle of fiscal conservative. (Whether or not the Democrats can capitalize on this is a different question.)

This is the long game we were talking about when this all went down, you know.

More than that the Republitards shot their load on the Debt Ceiling Disaster. They left a grand bargain on the table that would have made any Republican from 1980-2010 cream their jeans with delight.

The only question for the next four years, if Obama wins re-election, is are the Repulitards going to do absolutely nothing and obstruct the government at every turn? Like they did the last four years, but with worse results for them.

This just in. For the first time ever, the Congress has received a negative approval rating, at -3%. This has been achieved as everyone polled disapproved and then just to reinforce the point, most of congress also called the pollster unsolicited to exclaim how f*cking terrible they were. Several sovereign nations also called the pollster to register their voice.

This. The expiration of a temporary cut is not a tax increase. And the Democrats, including the President, have allowed that narrative to go largely unchecked.
