If Romney loses, it will be because of Chris Christie. Since Obama had very little support among white voters, it means he won't have a mandate.

/have read both of those claims already

With their last bit of strength, they'll arrange their spilled innards to say '10/10"

In reality, very little will change. Republicans will certainly not have a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, and unless we have another 9/11 the minority will not just roll over like they did for Bush.

So in the unlikely scenario that Mitt does win, there will be no Iran invasion, no Obamacare repeal, no medicare vouchers, no new abortion laws, no radical overhaul of our taxes. Congress will not abide. Unfortunately, the same thing will be true when Obama does get re-elected.

Either way, it's going to be four more years of a do-nothing congress.

If Obama loses, Mitt Romney will inherit the authority Obama and his lawyers granted to the executive to kill Americans overseas without due process. Do you really want that psychopath having that authority?

In order to stay sober tomorrow night, I will only drink one beer for each state Rmoney wins.

If Obama loses, there will be mass accusations of voter fraud. My hope is that there would be peaceful reconcilliation. Also, scritchy underwear futures would increase to new highs.

Obama were to lose, Democrats would suddenly be leaderless for the first time in half a decade and would be forced to confront agonizing questions about the viability of their party's agenda - health care reform, most of all.

In other words, the Democrats will learn exactly the wrong message. They will assume that the centrist Democrat was "too liberal" and will lurch back to the "center" like they always do. The problem isn't the message, it's that the party as a whole isn't bold enough to defend.

I'm gonna go with a brainwashed electorate and a bunch of people who aren't voting, either because they hate both sides but can't figure out how to change the system, or because they simply don't bother to vote because they are lazy.

People in this country, on the whole, are dumb, ignorant motherfarkers.

I was watching the Will Ferrell movie The Campaign the other day. I said, "See those two guys? They are basically the Koch brothers." My sister, who college-educated and pretty smart, said, "Who?" I then had to explain to her how two billionaires basically created the Tea Party using AFP as a front for their anti-tax anti-regulation anti-labor bullsh*t.

In other words, people just don't know anything in the US. They are uneducated, low information people, driven by the media's perception. And even high information people are swayed by the media.

The idiocracy is here, and nicely controlled by the plutocracy.

It's unlikely that Obama will lose.  I see pretty much all the toss-ups going to Obama in close races.  The internals on the polls tell a different story, but I don't think this is the Republicans' year.

If any one thing would change the ability of legislation to be brought to the forefront and actually allow some things needed to be passed to be completed and actually have a budget would be returning the Senate rule on filibustering to require the senator filibustering to remain speaking instead of just calling in a filibuster with no other effort than a phone call.

So we have that to look forward to.

America won't be ruined. We'll continue our recovery and eventually reach "normal" employment in the next four years. It's just that a well-connected, privileged plutocrat will take credit for it instead of the smart, moderate, populist who didn't get much handed to him yet still got the ball rolling.

So what else is new?

2012-11-05 12:09:21 PM
I don't "adore" Obama. At all. I am a liberal.

He's a center-right president. His USFWS has delisted gray wolves, which are now being hunted pell-mell. That's a big no-no. No true liberal president would allow the various egregious environmental insults Obama has allowed.

However.

I'm voting for Obama because voting for Romney is a vote for:

- War with Iran
- Discrimination against gays and lesbians
- Discriminatory Mormon policy-making in the White House
- Open mocking of climate science and climate change
- A war on women's rights to choice, family-planning, fair-pay
- The Ryan Plan
- Vouchercare
- Slashed funding for national parks

Et cetera.

If Romney wins politicians on both sides of the political spectrum in America, and abroad, will have confirmation that a campaign based almost entirely on lies can successfully win the presidency.

If you think this election was bad wait until the folks in power confirm the Romney strategy is a viable option.

You know most media outlets already have the bulk of their stories written for tomorrow for either outcome, just waiting for a handful of details. I think it would be very interesting to see the NYT or Washington Post bizarro-world front page for Wednesday.

No - since corporations are PEEPLE:

Secretary of Interior: Exxon/Mobil
Secretary of State: Bain Capital
Secretary of Energy: British Petroleum
Secretary of Education: Disney
Secretary of H/HS: DuPont

... and so on.

Sure there is. At the end of every page you can do your little teabagger wheeze and snort before going on to the next part, and they get page-click revenues. Win-win.

I hope I could be so sure as to you.

For one, he may get to select one/two SCOTUS judge. And add that you may see a reversal of abortion law.
ACA will remain, but House may screw it up by blocking any necessary change, or Mitt giving executive order to exempt all state from participating.

In short, probably no new significant law will pass, but with SCOTUS and House with him, he can screw up so many things (remember, House controls the finding) in such a sort time.

Secondly, the recovery will be doomed. Top down economy will be good for only one thing, increasing the income gap.

So, yeah, hell can break lose.

2012-11-05 01:02:39 PM
1) First debate in Denver
2) Bush economy
3) Obama not laying out a clear second term vision
4) Citizens United decision, plus lots of PAC money
5) Obamacare was worth it
6) Race

I'm not sure #3 is a big deal; Romney isn't much clearer. All the others... yeah.

Though I'll particularly note #2 seems more precisely from the under-pessimistic report of the Bush economy's close. If the GDP drop in Fall 2008 had been reported accurately at about an eight percent APR drop rather than the four initially reported, Obama might not have been damnfool enough to promise/predict five-point-something percent unemployment.

2012-11-05 01:07:10 PM
It would be a traumatic experience: the death of the dream of liberal realignment embodied in Obama's insurgent 2008 campaign. And it would be all the more distressing to Democrats because so many of them fervently believe they will win tomorrow.

So basically it will be 2004 all over again?
