(American Thinker)   With the wait until the most important election of our lifetimes measured in hours, not weeks, many have come to see Mitt Romney as destined to be America's 45th president   ( divider line

lennavan: Funny question - Assume Mitt Romney is going to be POTUS, how does that make you feel? Think about it. If you have listened to Mitt as a candidate, everyone in the United States should be simultaneously scared and excited because the directions Mitt might take the country are endless. He might appoint justices that ban abortion entirely, or he might appoint justices that are pro-choice. He might lower our taxes, or he might raise them. Maybe he'll invest heavily in green energy and enact powerful environmental regulations a-la his 2004 "THE NEED FOR ACTION IS NOW" stance, or maybe he'll cut funding entirely and disband the EPA.

Whatever side you're on, if Mitt becomes POTUS, all things are possible -- your nightmare scenario, your dream scenario and everything in between. So how do I feel about Mitt as POTUS? I dunno.

Mitt Romney is made flesh.

Felgraf: Ah, cognitive dissonance I can explain at least. 'S keeping two clearly contradicting thoughts in your head at once. Like

Poor people and folks on welfare are immoral leeches
I am a poor person and on welfare
I am a just and moral person.

That's not quite cognitive dissonance.

Cognitive dissonance is the discomfort caused by keeping two clearly contradicting thoughts in your head at once.

Poor people and folks on welfare are immoral leeches.
I am a poor person on welfare.

Poor people and folks on welfare are immoral leeches.
I am a poor person and on welfare who is a just a moral person.
Oh, dear, there's conflict there and it's making me feel bad.
But, I deserve the welfare because I'm good and doing the best I can.
The other people on welfare just don't want to work.

/Red = cognitive dissonance
//Green = cognitive dissonance resolved/dissipated

eyes moist with tears of joy, I hugged the frail octogenarian so hard I fear I may have broken two of his ribs...I watched sadly as he limped away.

this touched me deep inside, where i am soft like a woman.

That was the progressive master plan -- that, and portraying Mitt Romney as a Dickensian villain intent on destroying the nation in service of his own greed.

Oh yes, I agree. It is pretty silly to portray your political opponent as some evil villian trying to harm the US for nothing but purely personal reaso...

but I will not suffer in silence as men like Barack Obama attempt to transform the nation I love for no other reason than their own vanity.

Well, certainly the Mormons feel this, yes.

I find it weird that so many conservative Christians are willing to basically acknowledge Mormonism as the one true faith by helping Mitt Romney fulfill a mormon prophecy.
