Muta: Has anyone ever noticed how fat Christie is?

I think you're the first one on Fark to ever notice that.

AkaDad: Sandy didn't wash Romney's chances away, since he was going to lose before that, but it did wash Christie's chances away at becoming the Republican nominee for President, since he gave Obama praise for his handling of the disaster.

Haha...you don't think the GOP will un-person Romney faster than they did Bush if he loses?

Christie has at least 4 years to kiss butt if Romney wins.

I think they un-person both, but I could be wrong, it's happened once or twice before.

Mitt already said he's not running again, if Mitt loses the GOP needs to kiss a HUGE Christie ass since he would have a clear path for the next election.

/especially showing he can work both sides and his eff you speech to people asking why he let Obama help NJ so close to elections...

More precise.

Oh fark. That was a joke. Shiat. Sorry. sorry.

What I find humorous is the difference in how hurricanes "change the game" traditionally for Democrats and Republicans. Republicans lose elections by their incompetence in handling the damage done by hurricanes while in contrast President Obama has probably ensured his re-election by his competence in handling the damage done by a hurricane.

Boxcutta: Diogenes: The storm could make Obama look incredibly strong, but it won't make a difference if the people in the blue states affected are hampered when trying to vote.

Fox News is trying very hard to make it appear as if FEMA's response has been entirely inadequate and that blame for everything from the storm itself through the lack of power lies squarely with Obama.

Obama would create a storm that would interfere with his lock on a state. That's how evil he is.

If R-MONEY LOOK AT ME!! LOOK AT ME!! I HAVE MONEY AND MANY SONS!!!1! loses,
I want him to vanish like a popcorn fart in the Sahara Desert.

I want people to say "Go-olly, I dunno, Sarge!" while very thoughtfully picking their noses two years from right now when asked
"Who was that guy who ran against Obama in 2012?"

I want him to sink into the dread obscurity of the lost pharaohs in the ancient Valley of the Kings whose tombs were looted
thousands of years ago, while he is still breathing.

Nothin' personal, mind you.

dickfreckle: Jesus, this asshole actually laments that the president responded to a natural disaster. In his world, it would be preferable that Obama abandoned the victims.

I didn't read it that way. I read him describing what happened as a misfortune for Romney, not for everyone. Larry Sabato is an academic, and while he's conservative compared to me, that's not exactly surprising.... so is Obama.

Has he endorsed Romney somewhere that I haven't seen?

Not sure where all of you are getting the idea that Sabato is an anti-Obama conservative, when he has always been a very liberal democrat.

The GOP may have un-personed Bush but the base never did. How many "Miss me yet?" stickers, posters, and forum posts do we STILL see? However, I do think they'll distance the hell away from Mitt at the first possible chance--like around 8pm tomorrow. The base never liked him and are only voting for him because he's not Obama. And face it, that's the only real motivation the Tea Party has ever had. We've seen time and time again that it's not Obama's policies they despise, it's merely the fact that Obama supported them.

As for what the GOP will do w/Christie, I don't know. If Bachmann, Akins, & Mourdock lose MAYBE the GOP will begin to regain some semblance of sanity and look for a more moderate candidate like Christie seems to be painting himself in the past week. But it's really hard to predict the Teabaggers. They may still argue that they lost because Romney wasn't conservative enough and go even FARTHER right. I fully expect a tight primary between Jeb Bush & Christie in a few years. And I honestly can't even guess who'd win that one.

Corvus: monoski: Were NJ or NY ever in play for Rmoney?
Right because only NY and NJ cares about Obama doing a competent job about their disaster relief. *facepalm*

Do you really think Real Americanstm care about NY & NJ

Yes, Hurricane Sandy forced Romney to show the country and the WORLD that he has absolutely no idea what people in need actually require, but he DOES know how to pose for a photo-op.

ghare: God sent a hurricane to shut down day one of the Republican convention, and then another one to seal the deal for Obama.

Pretty clear whose side God is on this time.

April, 2011: Texas Governor Rick Perry calls for the state residents to pray for the end of the drought.

Summer of 2011: Drought continues to worsen.

September 2011: Much of the state is now on fire.

October 2011: Atheist Alliance International holds their 4th annual Texas Freethought Convention in Houston. On the last day of the convention, it rains.

If you're the kind of person who believes stuff like this more than coincidence...

Well the way I see it Mitt was just Palin 2, which proves once they get down to the one candidate it will become a thing of R vs D and R will always vote R. Since most independents seem to want to vote R it as long as the R candidate can at least not be a Romney type that has no real stance on important issues and/or is too secretive about it then they have the advantage.

Since Christie didnt push or pull towards or away one party too much and went heels down when either side tried to make the storm about politics, he will already have a big advantage over a weak D party once Obama is out of contention.

I've been getting his weekly emails since 2006 (the Macacca election here in VA) and he's never been liberal.

While I don't disagree that those two are the likely contenders at this point can we please, as a country, say enough with the Bushes? Neither were particularly spectacular as president, why do we want to stick our dick in that outlet a 3rd time?
