heh. thanks for that . flopping was addressed via a rule change in the NBA, and is a POE this year. we'll see if the NBA refs address it. I'm thinking not, especially when it's a "star."

Well, well, well. An NBA thread on Fark. Now I've seen it all.

Alright, the Lakes take out their frustration on a horrible Pistons team. Let's see if they can roll it over to face anyone else. I still see big issues with this team. Not impossible ones, but clear and present ones.

It's up to the league front office to address the flopping through fines and suspensions. NBA refs will continue to call it as they see it and as proven by past examples they fall for the flop.

yep. at the NFHS level, the penalty is a technical foul. In many years of ref'ng, i've only seen it called once, and that was in a jr. high game. What I do, if someone clearly flops and goes to the ground, I come out strong with a blocking foul. The kid is on the floor, usually saying,"i didn't touch him." then I say,"then why are you on the ground?"

After going 2-0 by a rather large margin, the Magic now only need 14 more wins to meet ESPNs expectations.

R Kelly's Doo Doo Butter: Does a win against the Pistons even count?

I didn't even know the NBA teams played D-League teams in the regular season.

And those issues are...?

To me, the only issue is the same one they've had, Mike Brown. Dude is a terrible coach. He was terrible for the Cavs, and now for the Lakers. Just get rid of him now.

Extremely slow team. Especially perimeter defense. Sessions could at least keep up, marginally, with the faster guards in the NBA, but Nash has always been a terrible defender. Kobe and Artest are no longer the defenders they used to be, not by a long shot.

Teams will be able to get transition baskets at will, like the LAC did the other night, unless they make some changes there. Howard and Gasol are not good transition defenders.

Terrible bench. There is no one on the bench you can expect to step up and change the course of a game. There are a couple players that are decent, but not even that good. Jamison looks done.

Kobe is still ball-dominant. Nash needs the ball to be creative, or even effective. This may be resolved and may be a non-issue.

I'm not sure the Lakers have been completely exposed already, but this doesn't look much different from the team that lost badly in the playoffs last year. I'm not sure Howard is much better at his position than Bynum. If Nash is too broken and/or is not used well, then he may be not much more than a small net-plus from Sessions.

In short, they are a very slow team in a league where speed increasingly kills. And there is no one on the bench you can expect to do much, if anything. Brown is not a good fit, but who is? This is an overrated team that looks like it goose may already be cooked. They're a playoff team - they're far better than the drizzly shiats like Detroit - but they cannot be considered close to a contendor.

You would be wishing Dwight Howard success if you weren't a racist.

It takes some balls to flop a little, then bump Lee on his way to get the ball. WTG, NBA tough guy!

A bit sensitive aren't we? I'm sorry, but the only reason anybody would not cheer for Dwight is if they are a racist. You should feel ashamed of yourself.

I will mostly be around during the finals so I can label anybody who isn't cheering for the team I like a racist. I only posted here because IAmRight is failing to practice what she preaches. I'm just trying to do my part to make this a better, more tolerant world.

During the last NBA finals, IAmRight kept calling people racists for doing things like not liking LeBron or cheering for the Thunder. I've seen her use the "they're racists" argument before when explaining the difference in popularity between the NFL and NBA as well (you will have to ask her how that works). She's a farking idiot and I enjoy making fun of her.
