They could have repaired the coaster but were fresh out of Technic Angular Beams.

"However to our relief, we saw technicians guiding passengers to safety via the emergency rescue platform."

...during a storm. Shiatting bricks indeed.

Being stuck at the top of a rollercoaster during a storm is the only thing that can make Legoland interesting if you are old enough that any part of your body needs to be shaved.

...Okay, so the storm part kinda sucks, but I'd be willing to bet 1 million Internet dollars that other Farkers have been stuck on rides for FAR longer than 15 minutes.

/Hell, I could name at least 10 times
//One was in the final show scene for "It's a Small World"

Why didn't they just put the kids to work and have them construct a roof when they saw the storm rolling in?

* Building cars and smashing them against the kitchen cabinets to see how well they held up
* Building planes or helicopters and throwing them down the stairs (same reason as #1)

This is nothing special. I worked at one of the big Florida parks for 4 years and I can tell you that "technical difficulties" are a daily occurrence. The latest attractions have a ridiculous amount of false positive shutdowns, simply because modern PLCs are checking physics on top of traditional "occupied block" systems. For example, if a ride gets to a certain point on the track at a different speed/time compared to what the ride computers have calculated, the ride shuts down - even if there's no risk of danger.

I watch my kids dance across the damn things, and I'm sure I did the same as a kid. I don't really remember when they went from fun yay! to deliberate crushing of my pinkie panful.

I was there for a few weeks doing an install for my company, and the ineptitude of the locals was just frightening.

Why is a website called Relax covering roller coaster horror stories? Don't lego the safety restraints.

My friends and I preferred Loc-Bloks (in the slightly-larger-than-Lego flavor). We would design ornate fleets of Star Wars-like starships and use the small curved bits as one-man fighters. Ah, childhood.

There is a coaster at Six Flags NJ called Kinda Ka that might not make it to the top of the hill if the weight is too much on the coaster.

The ride shoots you to a 128mph as you head toward the summit at 456 ft in the air. We got close to the top, but then I quickly realized we didn't have enough push to get us over the top. We came back backwards, safely, to the station. But there was a split second where I had no idea if gravity was going to force us to crash back into the station uncontrollably or not.

A few riders were asked to leave the car and they tried again. Worked the second time. It apparently happens frequently on the ride. Things like wind, friction, and weight of the car effect the performance.

Yeah, it happens a lot on that one. I actually want to to happen to me because "yay! free ride"

What kind of asshole gets on a roller coaster during a storm?

They bought their tickets, they got on the ride, I say, let 'em get hit by lightning.

How stuck? You mean like two thin Lego pieces stuck right after your mom cuts your fingernails?
