I'll let them slide on QoS, at least they kept it going. I want all Bond movies to be wildly successful so I'll have new Bond movies the rest of my life....

Dying to see Skyfall this Friday....

Fair enough.

That said, I'm really looking forward to seeing what Craig does in the name of crafting his unique interpretation of Bond.

TFA: Worldwide, Sony titles have generated $3.6 billion in ticket sales so far for the year, putting the studios on course to reach a record $4 billion.

So when I torrent it download it from the place that shouldn't be mentioned, they won't miss my measly $13, right?

Personally I find Gladys Knight's License To Kill to be the best Bond theme of all time.

"Skyfall is where we start
A thousand miles and poles apart
Where worlds collide and days are dark
You may have my number, you can take my name
But you'll never have my heart"

the lyrics are atrocious... i like her voice etc... but that was a tired ca$h grab.

"hey Adele...can we stick skyfall in there somewhere?"
"ell it's kinda stupid sounding...but ...is that a chequebook?"

they need to get rid of the Duran Duran/Adele etc crap theme songs. the skyfall song is garbage.

Hollywood Lieberals are so desperate to steal the election that they are outsourcing premiers of one of America's greatest film franchises (behind harry potter) So the demorats aren't too distracted from not having a job to vote for obummer instead of seeing this film.

Considering it was left up to the director and the actors to finish the script - that movie could of turned out a lot worse.

Agreed.

Probably the best recent Bond theme song, right up there with "The World is Not Enough."

fusillade762: Thirded. 95% on Rotten Tomatoes right now.

Sooooooooo jazzed. I can't even TELL you.

mark12A: Imma let you finish, but Casino Royal is the greatest!

That was pretty solid, too.

As Bond themes go, it's divisive among the fanbase, but I dig it.

basemetal: Well, you are alive......

*tips hat*

Joliebleu: :)

Howdy there!

fusillade762: Many of QoS's problems were due to the writer's strike, if I'm not mistaken.

According to a December 2011 interview with Craig, "We had the bare bones of a script and then there was a writers' strike and there was nothing we could do. We couldn't employ a writer to finish it. I say to myself, 'Never again', but who knows? There was me trying to rewrite scenes-and a writer I am not."[50] He said that he and Forster "were the ones allowed to do it. The rules were that you couldn't employ anyone as a writer, but the actor and director could work on scenes together. We were stuffed. We got away with it, but only just."

That would make sense.

I didn't care too much for the theme song and shakycam crap, though.

I DETEST shakycam. Hate it. Hoping there isn't much in Skyfall.

Interesting thing about Casino Royal: Zero smoking. None. Not that I'm a rabid antismoking nut (puffing my pipe at the moment), but I found it interesting that they could eliminate it entirely and not hurt the pacing at all. Mathis snacking on nuts while talking showed how to do it.

Adele's theme song is fine, I've heard a lot worse (Duran Duran suck big hairy sweaty balls) but for me the favourite is Live and Let Die - closely followed by Thunderball.

It would be tough to dislodge Madonna's "Die Another Day" as the worst Bond song.

And yes, I include Lulu's "The Man with the Golden Gun" in that statement.

mark12A: I DETEST shakycam. Hate it. Hoping there isn't much in Skyfall.

I haven't read many reviews (because ZOMG SPOILERS) but the general gist of what I've read suggests that there's less/no shakycam.

I can't confirm that, but it's promising.

Duran Duran suck big hairy sweaty balls

I liked View to a Kill only because it's a foxhunting term and I foxhunt.

"Dance into the fire" is an oddly descriptive phrase of hunting, since we all get dressed up and go out and do something truly dangerous (galloping and jumping walls and fences on 1/2 ton beasts). I've had one friend get killed hunting, another with a broken neck and others with various serious injuries. So I listen to it to get psyched up....

I hated QoS the first time I saw it. On repeated viewings I found myself warming to it. It's got some good fights and the opening chase scene is decent.

Agreed it is THE song that screams Bond, but ages ago someone gave me a Bond cd and it got stuck in the car cd player and stuck on that track so it played every time I started the car. It was about a week before the garage could fix it and now it's ruined the song for me. Also, Diamonds Are Forever is great. You can't really go wrong with Shirley Bassey, unless you car has tortured you with it.

One scene that impressed me was when Bond knifed the guy in the apartment and calmly held him down while he bled out. Now that's some professional killing there....
