The next mission will be to oppose Obama at every turn

How will we know the difference?

2012-11-04 09:52:22 AM
Soooo, nothing changes.

2012-11-04 09:56:11 AM
Business as usual.

2012-11-04 09:56:56 AM
they started doing that on inauguration night 2009.

2012-11-04 09:57:48 AM
If Obama wins, the excuses will start coming; the excuses will mushroom quickly into reasons why the victory was illegitimate; illegitimacy thus "established," the next mission is to oppose Obama at every turn with even greater fervor. Any political means necessary to stop or even remove him will become justified.

well yeah. I mean that's kind of a no brainer.

If Obama wins, you will see a level of derp that makes the last 4 years look like a mensa convention. The wingnuts are so deep into their echo chamber, they can't imagine any scenario where Romney loses. An Obama victory would therefore have to be a complete and utter usurpation of the will of the electorate, and will be justifiable cause for any and all resistance to the government.

2012-11-04 10:03:56 AM

FlashHarry: they started doing that on inauguration night 2009.

The first "Impeach Obama" website was created on Jul 28, 2008, before Obama was even elected.

Perhaps the House will go blue and the senate will retain control?

The house is already turning blue, but that's from them holding their breath until they pass out.

I can't understand why the nopublicans wouldn't cooperate. Their goal was to make Obama a one term president, and now he'll be down to one term. They should revere mittens for doing that.

Dear Republicans,

You're too stupid and corrupt to run this country.

Kthxbai.

Has anyone pointed out that there'd be no discernible difference yet?

/because... yeah

The big difference is in Obama's second term he'll be invoking Executive Order much more often to circumvent all the GOP roadblocks.

Those won't do much. The president can't create laws through executive orders. I would like to see more recess appointments and, should Congress continue with their BS schedule, declare Congress in recess then make appointments. Maybe, just to be a dick, call them out of recess around Christmas for a special session.

It's already happening.. The few Teabagger Fb friends I have have gone into overdrive posting stupid graphics and Breitbart links proclaiming Obama was at fault for the credit downgrade, and not passing any jobs bills, etc.

November 7 will be National Teabag/GOP Butthurt Day on an epic scale.

This. Which is why the very first thing the new, slightly more liberal senate should do is nuke the filibuster. Announce it before even a single piece of legislation comes their way.

Equally happy with this.

So they're going from "Stopping Obama from getting a second term by opposing and obstructing him on everything even if it was originally our idea" to simply "opposing and obstructing Obama on everything even if it was originally our idea because illegitimate election"?

Wow, that's a nuanced approach.

Wonder how long before enough people wise up to the GOP"s utter uselessness.

2012-11-04 12:36:49 PM
Actually the first the GOP will do after the election (well probably some time Tuesday evening once it's obvious to them that Obama will win) is rant and rave how they didn't go far right enough. It's the same thing they do after every election, no matter who wins or loses

I prefer the other recent article,RIP Romney

2012-11-04 12:52:15 PM
If Obama wins, nothing is going to change, as far as the GOP is concerned. That's par for the course. I don't expect them to suddenly decide to work with him and behave like intelligent human beings, because they're not intelligent human beings.

Maybe we need one-party rule for a while so that a reasonable alternative to the Democrats can emerge.

It's awesome that the GOP still hasn't noticed the provision in Obamacare that makes all his second-term decisions instant law without any Congressional approval.

I look forward to the sweet, sweet tears of outrage come Wednesday. I will have to savor them as long as possible because it won't be long before the blind obstructionism and "patriotic" violence starts up, I fear.

I'll just leave this here.

Remember to vote this Tuesday. Should President Obama win reelection, we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

As opposed to Democrats, who would shrug and say, "Well, we ran the best campaign we could, guess it's time to get back to bipartisanship" if Romney wins.

I was telling my wife the other night that the more EC votes Obama wins, the more likely the chance of a series of small-time terror attacks by right-wingers across the country. Pipe bombs, a few shootings, and so on. We've already seen that there are a good numbers of nuts out there on the right; add the frustration of a blowout, and we will unfortunately have a few people getting killed.

Oh my god I went to the store and there were libs they have bumpers stickers and they were buying groceries and they're everywhere you look. They're at gas stations and on the street. They have signs in their yards and at the mall. Making phone calls and going door to door. You get in the shower and they're there. They're coming for your children and your pets. The libs are taking over. LIBS! LIIIBBS! Under the bed and in the cabinets. They're everywhere I tell you everwhere! LIBS!

That and Reid said they would curtail the filibuster.
I'm cautiously optimistic
