Guantanamo Bay is still open because Congress denied the funds to close it. The economic recovery has materialized. We have one less war in the Middle East than we did under Bush and at least two less than we will under Romney.

How are people as farking stupid as the author of TFA able to use a typewriter?

I guess Bin Ladin, Health Care reform, and GM still being open and not being run by Saab, and a recovery slowed by obstructionism in Congress, and the end of DOMA and DADT are bad things too...

FTFA: And it's not as though Obama has lived up to his promises. Guantanamo Bay is still open, we're at war across the Middle East (waging it less competently, perhaps, but still at war, and in new places), the promised economic recovery has never materialized, and, heck, Obama's even cracking down on marijuana users. Where's the hope and change in that?

Open letter to Glenn Harlan Reynolds:

Dear Wingnut;

Gitmo? Starting with Gitmo means you have nothing and you know it. Gitmo isn't closed because of Republicans in Congress. Here's the deal, Wingnutty WE opinion guy, you assholes get to either A) Be obstructionist pricks or B) Complain that nothing's getting done. Doing both at the same time just makes you look even crazier and more pathetic than you previously did and that was already pretty bad. K?

Competency? Yeah, about that... The guys who totally blew 9/11 by sitting on their hands, did a half ass job in Afghanistan, abandoned that to lie a country into war in Iraq do NOT get to even use the word "competency" in regards a foreign policy discussion for at least another decade. Still with me Shiat-fior brains?

Economic recovery? The country was in a farking economic death spiral due to Bush's ruinous domestic policies. It has recovered. It will recover more. The biggest impediment to said recovery has demonstrably been, once again, obstructionist Republicans in Congress and the Senate (not to mention some Blue Dog DINOs). See: America credit ratings drop due to newb Teatards playing chicken on a relatively innocuous debt ceiling bill and the upcoming sequestration due to the GOP backing off of an 11th hour compromise even after getting 99% of what they wanted.

Marijuana? Obama has taken a few baby steps towards decriminalization and while it may not be much are you seriously making this argument while touting Mitt "Hey you pot smokers I'm calling the police on you" Romney? A guy who thinks God frowns on cola beverage products? Really really?

TL,DR?

STFU, GTFO and go EABOD cos once again... You. Got. Nothing.

"Interesting"? What's interesting about the same crap the GOP has been spewing for at least 2 years?

I think we should "throw the bastards out!" every four years if they don't do exactly as they promised, and as we wanted them to do, because the entire world runs in four-year cycles and revolves around my temper tantrums. Also, I suck at delayed gratification in any form, and can't remember what happened in August, let alone more than four years ago.

Guantanamo Bay is still open... because Congress stonewalled every attempt to bring the prisoners to trial and the administration had no other choice except to do nothing...

We're at war across the Middle East... except we're not

The promised economic recovery has never materialized... which must be why corporate profits are at or near record highs, we have millions of more people employed, and the markets are at or near their record highs

Obama's even cracking down on marijuana users... I'll give you that even though it's also less than entirely honest about what's actually happening.

100% lies. Fark off Examiner, fark of submitter, and fark off whoever greened it.

/ I ain't even mad, tho

House Republicans prevented its closing, we could have finished by 2005 had Bush not deliberately half-assed Afghanistan in the first place so that he'd be able to run Operation Daddy Issues in Iraq, hamstrung by the GOP, and I thought the GOP LOVED tough-on-crime politicians.

Except the law-abiding part. We had this discussion yesterday. DEA has been busting in cities with zoning and other laws against dispensaries. Just because the state legalized medical marijuana doesn't mean some cities haven't passed their own laws. Tjose cities have asked the Federales for help.

Not sure about other cities, but here in the SF bay area both local and state officials support the dispensaries the DoJ is cracking down on.

It's a clear example of Obama lying and going back on a campaign promise.

"It will not be a priority to use federal resources to prosecute patients with serious illnesses or their caregivers who are complying with state laws on medical marijuana, but we will not tolerate drug traffickers who hide behind claims of compliance with state law to mask activities that are clearly illegal."

--Attorney General Eric Holder

I would like to know which legal dispensaries and growers are being harassed by Holder and his "thugs."

Also, Mitt Romney wants to outlaw even medical marijuana.

"Obama's not making it better fast enough, so let's vote for someone who either doesn't have enough pull or patience and will f*ck it all up, or maybe the guy who wants to reverse any and all progress on the issue! Rock on!"

So wait...the complaints are because Obama is being harder on marijuana users than Bush was? Really? Just curious because I'd be willing to bet that if Obama did something like announce "Okay, I've decided to make this weed thing legal... ", the republicans would have a coronary. The ones that survived that would probably seriously injure themselves in their rush to get to a keyboard to start screaming about how Obama was soft on crime, friendly to potheads and other degenerates, wants your children to smoke a KNOWN GATEWAY DRUG!!1!!1 so they'll move on to the harder stuff, and is almost certainly in league with the Mexican drug cartels.

Maybe I'm just reading it wrong.

Yes and no. The GOP leadership does very, very well channeling its minions' outrage and irrational thinking into action, i.e. the absoluting silly Tea Party. That movement swept out moderate Republicans who would compromise with freshmen Representatives who were in compromise = surrender mode.

Point of information: DOMA is still on the books. It's been found unconstitutional by lower courts but it's still technically in effect until it gets to the Supreme Court and is overturned there, or is repealed by Congress itself.

I'm seeing campaign material now blaming Obama for both the continuing existence of Gitmo and the downgrade of the US credit rating. This is despite there is readily verifiable factual evidence proving that these are both things REPUBLICANS did.
